  6. Great article on how Silicon Valley has turned 180 degrees away from its pacifist stance and is fully committed in human capital, finance and organization to create the tools of the trade to fight authoritarian governments. Sam Houston said before the Civil War that the northern people are not a hot tempered people, but when angered they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche. 7. https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/16/europe/ukraine-withdraws-avdiivka-intl/index.html Ukrainian forces have announced the withdrawal of its forces from Avdiivka, a key town which in recent months became one of the most fiercely contested battles on the eastern front. The move followed an intensification of Moscow’s attacks on the area, as Russia pummeled it with airstrikes and artillery and sent wave after wave of ground assaults by armored vehicles and soldiers. While the town’s strategic significance is limited, Avdiivka marks the biggest gain for Moscow since it captured the city of Bakhmut last year and is an indication of how the war appears to have turned in Putin’s favor. Ukraine meanwhile faces renewed pressure across the eastern front, compounded by ammunition and manpower shortages. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the decision to pull back from Avdiivka was made to “save our soldiers’ lives.” “In order to avoid being surrounded, it was decided to withdraw to other lines. This does not mean that people retreated some kilometres and Russia captured something, it did not capture anything,” he added. Avdiivka has been on the front lines since Russian-backed fighters seized large portions of the Donbas region, including the nearby city of Donetsk, in 2014. It has been under fire since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022. Withdrawing from the town, to the northwest of Donetsk city, was “the only correct solution,” Ukraine’s commander of southern forces Oleksandr Tarnavskyi said in a Telegram post Friday, adding that some Ukrainian troops had been captured by Russia during the process.
  8. ***** Smirov? Russian stooge? Smirnov is the same person that Republicans have called "a highly credible FBI source" and have used to claim Joe Biden is corrupt, according to multiple senior congressional sources.
  9. If Speaker Johnson would just allow a vote, the United States could show the world that we still stand for freedom. But MAGA happens
  10. Putin murders a guy and the MAGA trash goes after our government. Not a bad word about Putin, though.
  11. LOL, bogus charges. MAGA is just stupid
  12. Hopefully this moves people in that caucus on the Hill that opposes funding our allies in Ukraine to at least let a vote, that will pass, to go forward. Biden can't act alone.
  13. You were speaking generally not specifically. Of course loss of life is a consideration in foreign policy considerations And you have no idea what the pull out will cost, If anything Biden did a good thing pulling us out of there And Afghanistan is closer to Japan than Europe
  14. Are you actually saying there is no consideration given to how many casualties it will take to accomplish a mission? Off the top of my head, how about Truman's decision to drop the bomb? The estimates of our casualties--which might have included my awesome dad--was the key factor cited in not invading and dropping a-bomb instead. Of course lives lost are a major consideration. Was Afgahistan worth American lives? I don't think so. Good job on Joe pulling us out of that mess
  15. More guns cause more deaths More=more
  16. Ummm....that's a terrible analogy Afghanistan was not WW2 . Or even close. What the hell you talking about?
