1. I'm not concerned with what other teams have done.

The problem is that poor Bills OL play basically ran Kelly out of the league in 1995 and 1996. Since that time, the Bills have never had any real consistency from year-to-year in either their rushing or passing attacks. Their OL is simply too weak to allow it. The front office has never bothered to correct it, with their only major addition being Mike Williams, who appears to be a borderline bust.

Its been probably 10 years since I can honestly say that I think the Bills fielded an OL that was in the top 20 of the league. That's pathetic.

  2. 1. Zero rushing TDs.

    2. Penalties.

    3. WRs with hands of stone.

    4. Poor playcalling.

    5. Crappy o-line.

Don't misuderstand, Drew is a big part of the problem, but when Losman gets in there and we experience many of the same problems we have now, please don't start calling for his head like a lynch mob. A rookie QB isn't going to fix this atrocity. Temper your expections with a new QB. Patience.

Of course, you are correct. The Bills have had a revolving door at QB since Kelly retired in 1996. At some point, you have to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe the QB position isn't the big problem with this team. No, I think the biggest issue the Bills have remains the one they've had for a decade, a pathetic excuse for an OL. The fact that they can't maintain much of a running game with two good Rbs should also be a red flag.

But if the Bills feel it necessary to bench Bledsoe, so be it. They're 1-5, and they may as well go to Losman at this point and get him some playing experience. Unfortunately, I doubt the results will be any different.

  3. One point I would like to make is that Henry has generally started slowly early in the season. He was averaging only 2.7 per carry through his first five games a year ago, then he only proceeded to post 1,096 rushing yards in the final 10 games of the year. 2002 was a similar story. While he had a great first game, he disappeared for the next month, before finishing very strong in the final 11 games.

The point is, don't write him off just yet.

  4. I don't think four interceptions today would validate anything 5-18 in your last 23 starts validates that, we just wanna win, not wait around to see if a washed up QB can regain what he had 8-10 years ago

Whatever. I thought the Bills did win today. Was it a perfect day? No. But isn't a win what you wanted? You seem awfully upset for someone who's team beat its biggest rival today.

  5. Some of you Drew bashers kill me at times, i know its fashionable and all but really the guy hasnt played all THAT bad this year - considering the slipshod protection, penalties, bad down and distance and dropped passes we've endured this year on offense.

I mean I know he hasnt looked like Bart Starr or anything, but if you watched all the games you can see the problem (at least this year) has been 80% line 20% Drew (at least on sacks) his accuracy and protection of the ball has been pretty good (especially if you take away all the drops we've had this year, including this game).

Today, for some reason, you saw the first team that didnt blitz our O-Line like crazy (NO idea why they didnt since they had to have seen the success everyone else has had with free defenders coming unblocked and getting sacks) and therefore you saw the line look halfway decent and Drew stand back there with enough time to take a 5 step drop and actually find a receiver.

Indeed, it seems that we've arrived at a point where the Bledsoe-haters are making excuses when he plays well.

    Sigh...

  6. While I think it would be a big mistake to trade Henry (I'm still worried about McGahee's durability, not to mention that its nice having two very capable RBs), the fact that he didn't play today makes me wonder if something isn't up. There were times when we could have used him and he's played with worse injuries before. Perhaps there is a trade in the works.

  7. Bush is pulling out of PA and NJ -- it's not in play.  (No, I don't have a link).

This rumor has been making the rounds and it doesn't appear to be true. In fact, Bush has a scheduled campaign stop in NJ Monday. You'll find proof of that in the right hand column on the following site, in the section dealing with the poll.

I don't immediately have anything regarding Bush's visits/ads in Pennsylvania, but given that I think everyone would consider him much more likely to win there than in New Jersey, he's probably not pulling out there, either.

BTW, here's a much better article detailing his Monday NJ visit:

  8. Brandon...I agree...how about a Cheney/Edwards ticket?

    58474

Edwards is doing better than Kerry, but he still stinks. I'd rather see a Cheney/Lieberman ticket, in no particular order. In fact, I've often said that this conservative Republican probably would've voted for Lieberman over Bush had the Dems not kicked him to the curb this spring.

  9. Cheney is hammering Edwards. That said, I doubt enough people are watching this thing for it to make any kind of difference.

The sad thing is that I now believe both of these guys are actually better candidates for their parties than either Bush or Kerry. Granted, its not necessarily because they're all that great themselves (although Cheney is giving a very good accounting of himself and his positions tonight).

  10. Well...WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT...

This isn't little league where everybody gets their manditory 3 plays....

We were moving the ball at will in the 1st....Evans doesn't play much in the 2nd......and this coaching staff couldn't see the connection?

    56672

You'd think they could see the obvious, wouldn't you?

At any rate, in his first game with substantial playing time, he had a very good outing. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of Lee Evans in the coming weeks. If he can continue this, combined with Reed's continued struggles, it wouldn't suprise me to see him starting opposite Moulds in another month.

  11. I think Kerry is the big loser here.. While his presentation skills were clearly superior to Bush's, I do think he left a lot to be desired in terms of content. The specific details were few and far between. He really needed to give people a reason to vote for him, and he didn't do that tonight. This was a wasted opportunity in that regard. Meanwhile, Bush just needed to avoid the big mistake, which he did, and I think he put Kerry on the defensive a few times.

Kerry also had one statement tonight that could really come back to bite him in the ass, that being his remark that pre-emptive strikes should pass some sort of global test. If Bush chooses to pounce on it (and judging from his response in the debate, I think his campaign will be all over it), it could be catastrophic for Kerry. He and the Dems already has significant problems on the issue of national defense and this statement will certainly be used by the Bush administration to paint him as a far left candidate who will outsource US defense to the UN.

  12. Well there's the rub.  You can spend tons of money getting the latest/greatest of anything.  Sure you might be one of the first to have/play it, but it becomes outdated pretty quickly and then something new, better, and more expensive comes along and then you need to get that.  I just can't justify spending $350 on a card that will be surpassed in several months' time and whose price will drop to of that by then.  But that's just me, even though I can more than afford to buy a card like that.  I guess I'm just cheap. :D

    34543

You really don't need that powerful of a graphics card to play the game and play it well, unless you insist on the absolute highest detail levels at a ridiculous screen resolution. If that's what you're going for, its going to cost you, but the game looks good enough that dropping down to 1024x768 with still high image quality settings is more than enough for most users. The high end cards of the last generation, such as the Radeon 9800 pro and Geforce 5900, should give you that much. They're not exactly cheap at just under $200, but that's far more acceptable than buying the latest and greatest.

As a side note, although I haven't played either one yet (new PC with standard Geforce 6800 is due to arrive any day now), I think the screenshots I've seen of Far Cry look better than Doom 3.
