  1. Just a thought....we could do exactly what Washington did last year in drafting multiple rookie quarterbacks. This would give us an even greater chance of success with finding a franchise quarterback. From what I'm hearing, EJ Manuel is a project QB and shouldn't start right away in the NFL....now that's not to say that we won't, but that over time, he could develop much more and become a greater starting-caliber QB when given time to adjust to the league. Does drafting Nassib make sense for not only Quarterback competition, but because he already knows the system and could be our stop-gap quarterback? Having Kolb on the roster complicates this belief for me, so I doubt we draft Nassib at all, especially with any of our 2 -2nd round picks. #41 - Robert Woods #46 - Shamarko Thomas #78 - Tyrann Mathieu! LOL Honey Badger P.S. PLEASE NO TE'O
  2. I sure hope you're wrong....I don't like the thought of any of this year's QBs for us, besides Nassib. He is the only QB that can come in and challenge Kolb best within Marrone's system. I get it. YES we need a QB. YES we can take one at #8. YES it feels a need. BUTTTTTTTTT and it's a big but, WE HAVE NIX RUNNING THE SHOW PEOPLE!!!! Why in the world would you trust Nix to make the RIGHT selection at #8 after years of awful front-office decisions. Heck, if you're saying to just select our guy at #8 to play it safe, how do you know who that is? For all we know they could like Wilson the best, would you be OK with that selection at #8?? With the Kolb signing, we are safe to wait in Round 1. That is my point. Does anyone REALLY think the Jets are going to take Nassib before us @ #9 or #13? I certainly hope not. Let's be honest, the only 2 (maybe 3) QBs which will go in Round 1 are a combination of: Smith, Manuel and Barkley.
  3. Sounds like our front-office is down to 2 choices which could VERY well be @ #8.....Barkley or Nassib. Either I would be fine with....but any trade-down scenario for an extra 1st or early 2nd is definitely inviting...
  4. This is the best point made thus far. If this is our FO strategy, I would definitely be supportive. With our schedule this year it's going to be rough on any QB, so possibly taking a chance is worth it IMO. Whichever rookie is at the helm will get to compete against the likes of Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan this year. Not bad if they can take notes for a solid sophomore campaign (and hopefully a less challenging schedule!)
  5. Check out our last 3 coaches and what position they drafted during their first year. I don't have the specific post, but another fan showed how Gailey, Jauron, etc. drafted their 1st rounder based on what positional coach they were and what side of the ball they used to coach too.
  6. It's all about value I agree, but any QB this year in the Top 20 is a "reach". Why take Nassib when another QB may not even be taken within the 1st at all?? Odds are after working out 6 QBs during pre-draft workouts, that taking Nassib in the 1st is not our ONLY option. There's a reason we brought Kolb in as a back-up QB AND as our back-up plan come draft day. Would I be upset if we went QB @ #8? No. But after a decade of NOT taking a QB in previous drafts where there was far better talent than in the current....I will be upset that we decided to pull the trigger in a down year for the position overall.
  7. Last year, it was called the Year of the QB. Luck, RG3, Wilson, Ponder, etc. This year? It's called nothing. The year of NOT the QB. That's not to say there isn't a gem, but that there is no obvious/definitive Franchise Quarterback. First off, new head coaches typically draft according to what type of coach they originally started out as. Marrone? He used to be an Lineman Coach before becoming head, and loves to build his OL (Pugh may be a 1st rounder). If it were up to Marrone, I'm sure he'd love to trade back and nab Nassib & Pugh both at the end of the 1st. In all likelihood? Here's how I predict it will all lay out come this weekend. 1st Rd - #8 Lane Johnson/Jonathon Cooper 2nd Rd - #41 Ryan Nassib/Matt Barkley 3rd Rd - #71 Shamarko Thomas, S Syracuse 4th Rd - #105 Travis Kelce, TE Cinci If this were to happen, I would be a happy man. We simply would be filling every one of our needs besides WR and LB, which I am OK with our current fill-ins. Alec Lemon and Marcus Sales may indeed go undrafted unless Marrone spends a 6/7th rounder on Lemon, so I'm sure he's fine with signing one or both of these guys as a FA post-draft. Would this make everyone happy? Marrone is a lot smarter than we all are giving him credit for, and kudos to him for even making it seem like the Bills are putting up a smokescreen for their #8 pick this year. Hopefully Buddy takes a convenient bathroom break once we are on the clock so Marrone and Co. have the freedom to choose who they want to start building this team.
  8. Isn't a little too early to be on something? Trading Byrd within the division is HIGHLY unlikely and for the #13 overall?? This is crazy talk, the kid has been a HUGE defensive presence for us and without him, we would simply have no safeties. The only way I would ever do this is for the Jets #9 pick and maybe if they threw us a 3/4th rounder. Other than that, this is just typical crazy talk on a bored Tuesday AM.
  9. This is bad....At best? 5-11.....but more likely and at worst? 2-14. Tank for Johnny Football? Maybe. Probably we'll just go 6-10 again.
  10. There is no chance in hell that the Bills take Nassib with the #8 pick, regardless of if Geno Smith is off the board. The only other QB at this point who COULD be taken by us @ #8 will be EJ Manuel, who ACCEPTED an invite to the Day 1 draft. Maybe his agent knows something....but Nassib's certainly doesn't. I forsee us passing on a QB @ #8 anyway, and possibly trading back IF a team has interest in a player who falls to our #8 pick (Johnson, Milliner). Nassib is good don't get me wrong, but we can always trade back in to the 1st (SF) and grab him, or hope that he or Barkley falls to #41.
  11. Yes, I do. He is that good. Getcha popcorn ready folks Superbowl or Bust
  12. Jets are realizing that no one is willing to give up a 1st for a guy who just tore his ACL - I'm just saying that it makes sense if A. Jets are desperate and B. Revis is willing to take less money.
  13. Regardless of Revis - this team has a solidified defensive unit with a lot of potential and $$$ invested. If I were the Jets, I wouldn't trade with us either. I only see our draft picks being on the offensive side of the ball unless we take a LB in Rd 2 or 3. Nassib is our man. Why do you think Marrone was the hire?
  14. Can someone please tell me why we are not making a move on trading for Revis? I understand that it's a division trade but they are looking to dump him for picks. Unless Pettine doesn't like his character I see this as a logical move to bring him back in to an already familiar defensive system. Imagine our young secondary with our DL putting pressure if it headlined Byrd, Gilmore, Aaron Williams and McKelvin + Revis. While I don't see us doing this, it would make sense to trade the #8 pick for Minnesota's pair of #23 & #25, then give our 2nd Rd pick & a conditional 2014/15 pick for this guy. I know he tore his ACL but even if he came back @ 75% that's a steal for any Rook this year. Projected 2013 Draft #23 - QB Ryan Nassib, Syracuse #25 - OT/G Justin Pugh, Syracuse A 3-way deal could even work out w/ Tampa calling us @ #8 for their #13 and a 3/4th with or without Revis involved. Nab TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame and hope for Nassib to be there Day 2 @ #41. Anyone who is projected that we take Patterson or Austin is highly mistaken, since I'm sure Marrone is content with signing Alex Lemon & Marcus Sales from Syracuse as WRs. Minimum contracts, know the system and hopefully will have our man Nassib at the helm. Since this makes so much sense to me, I highly doubt that Russ/Nix will make it happen. Who's to say we even draft a QB at all since we opt out time and time again. #Kaepernick#Wilson Thoughts?
  15. Minnesota offers the most attractive trade-down deal with 2 end of the 1st round picks. This would give us a potential impact player whose stock has slid into the bottom portion of the 1st, then nabbing the QB early that we were targeting with our original 2nd rounder. In a best-case scenario, we would trade our #8 this year and a conditional 3rd or 4th rounder from next year(or maybe this yr). Ideally this would give us the opportunity to draft as such: #23 Tyler Eifert or Tavon Austin then #25 Nassib, Wilson or Barkley and #41 we could grab Pugh or the best ILB available. P.S. if we wanted to really shake things up, we could go Mathieu with #41 ONLY if we traded back for 2-late 1st rounders. This would kill the Patriots gameplan of waiting to take him in the 2nd and give us some press for taking the Honey Badger. Just a thought from a marketing perspective!
  16. I think that Ansah, if there is our pick as well as the potential for an OL. Marrone has always coached up his offensive lineman and loves them as his building blocks. More likely I see all of our possible targets NOT being there at 8, with us having the potential to trade back to the 15-25 range and pick up another 2nd round pick either for 2013 or 2014. This would give us the ability to pick up Nassib at the end of the 1st Round as well as possible drafting Pugh or a solid WR2 with our 2nd rounder. Deep down, we have to believe as Bills fans that Marrone will likely draft Nassib for the short-term (and if it works out, long-term). Other options I would like is us trading back 5-10 picks, drafting Tavon Austin, Ogletree, or Patterson and then taking Nassib with our 2nd Round pick. This would make the most sense so that we're not overdrafting at the #8 pick and gives us another solid potential rookie in Round 2.
