Jeffery would have been a top 10 pick at least if he wasn't fat and lazy his junior season, they were huge red flags. He's not a good example to use.

You can get drafted first round in the NFL draft after a highly decorated collegiate Career then start as a rookie for a pro football team averaging 200 yds a game without being able to throw?
Timothy Richard Tebow

Trestman's offensive success is the main kick in the gut.
I think he was mentioned in every Bills hiring period since Mularkey.
-
The rest of this season is for EJ, I said that after the Chiefs debacle
Unfortunately, he's been quite bad since then

Accountability, lol what a freaking joke. Only teams with losing records talk about things like "accountability" and "taking ownership". I don't want to hear that nonsense anymore. Ever notice how you don't hear winning franchises talk about anything like that? All that stuff is just common place. I guess i'm just tired of the excuses. The whole franchise is accountable, from the owner down to the players.
Good point
For a team that goes on about "winning culture", the way they talk about effort, accountability, etc... isn't what winning teams do.

A veteran is not coming in, at least not one you'd ever want to play.
Hence why I'd like to draft another QB.
I don't think EJ is a bust yet, but I also don't think this team should rest on their laurels.
-
Somewhere along the line at FSU, someone seriously messed up his throwing mechanics. It affects his accuracy, and everyone can see it.
Don't blame FSU. Jimbo gave every possible chance for EJ to succeed there. They know how limited he is.

Cutler is sooo much better than Losman ever was it's not true. Cutler is a very talented QB IMO
It's funny listening to homers trash Cutler on the radio today
He's been a top half starting QB for many years now
Please, the Bills would be so darn lucky to have him
And there's no way Chicago is letting him go anyway

I'll be ranting until Marrone and Brandon are gone. This is a poor organization.
-
McCown is the one QB I'd consider for a veteran backup in this awful FA class, if you want one which I don't really. He's been decent throughout his career in some really horrible situations, and is playing well this year.
-
Schaub's not getting traded. Houston may release him. And he's going somewhere where he'll start.
-
I hate buzzwords like accountability, but Stevie struck again with his weird "happened early, so it doesn't matter" comment. I wouldn't mind trading him this offseason, even if it's not for great value.
And Eric Wood is praising Doug Legursky now for his "leadership" because he started in Superbowls. A fine example why I hate babble like accountability. Dude sucks at football, he shouldn't be here.
-
They're 4-9, and have had some lucky wins and unlucky losses in there. This is a bad team. I honestly have no idea what this team is getting right beyond "attitude" nonsense.
-
Andy Dalton is making the playoffs too
Cincy can gladly have him

You can't tank. Players care more about keeping a job in the league than the team's desires. You piss off the inventory for home games. Dear Leader Goodell probably fines the team millions if it's too noticeable.
Just lose, baby.

Drafting another QB in 2014 does not mean we are giving up on EJ. It just means we are bringing in competition, at a position where we are getting poor/subpar results. What is so wrong with that?
Nothing, but that's new thinking which people can't accept in the NFL. Manuel is a ~$2M cap hit for the next 3 seasons. That's cheap even by backup standards. There is no reason to avoid having a QB competition, even if Manuel was good.
If you can draft a QB that you feel great about, you do it. Period. They're that valuable today.
Of course, there's a 1% chance this Bills staff does so, so this is pedantic. But, one can hope. I always do. I'm a Billiever.

Brett Favre had this list of problems too. Yep colts are probably hosed.
If anything the fact that luck hasn't been flawless exemplifies how uncertain this whole franchise QB selection biz is.
Yes, Favre did. But he was a remarkable talent that could get away with it. Luck's arm isn't to that level. And Favre is overrated himself by people who seriously consider him among the best ever.
I'd take Luck on the Bills in a heartbeat, but it's becoming more accepted that Luck is nearing that "elite" range. I don't think he's there.
-
I'm lower on Luck than everyone. I think he's a reckless "gunslinger" that's going to rack up INTs for years. One look guy that trusts his arm too much. I don't know how he's avoided injury with how he runs, either.
Until I finally found a Luck hater today! Thanks

I would have liked to see what Gailey could have done with this kind of talent added to his O & Pettine as D coach !
I would have too. Alas, Gailey insisted on hiring cronies his entire mediocre career. Main reason he had to go.

It's a MUST to bring in a Veteran QB with 3-5 good years left in the tank to challenge for the starting role. Not one with a glass vag like Kolb either.
There aren't any
The best may be Tarvaris. Let's not do that again.

Jonathan Football is an easy 1st rounder, I don't think he gets past the top 10
No surprise that Bills fans hate him, though
I don't think he'd be a good fit in Buffalo either, he'd work best in quick west coast passing type offense
-
Running read options with a QB who runs so infrequently is something I can't understand. Defenses don't have to take EJ running seriously.
And like 714 up there said, EJ was not much of a runner at all in college. That was partly due to scheme, but he's never been proven as a natural runner.
Along with EJ's propensity to not throw downfield, and when he does it rarely goes well, where is the upside?
-
Not at all. The NFL continues to grow in popularity. There's certainly flaws, I'm losing interest because defenses can do basically nothing these days to stop prolific passing attacks. But, what Goodell is doing so far is working.
However, I do think the concussion and serious injury issue is going to be a huge problem in a decade or so. Parents are gradually realizing it's not wise to let their kids play football. So, either the NFL is going to have a severe talent drop or Goodell has to turn the game into flag football.

If he's there at the Bills pick, I'm really tempted
It's always a fun day here in Dallas when...
