He must have listened to Mike Schopp on WGR who kept saying the EJ needed to be "banging down Marrone's door" to play. Yeah right - he probably has never listened to that show... but regardless Marrone made the right call.
EJ's smart enough to know what happens if Lewis beats the Pats and has even a decent game.
-
Not much effect... the worst of the rain should be later at night and wind won't be a factor.
-
We can def sit CJ Spiller given the fact he is limping every week. I would dress the other starters though, and give the ball to Wingo a bunch to see what we have there. No need for Freddie to get more than 15% of the snaps. Then Goodell couldn't claim we "tanked" the game. That said, I want them to win this game. I also want to see what else we have at RB as Freedie will one day hit the wall.
I agree with you, I would have shut down Spiller and Kyle Williams after the Atlanta game. No need for guys with lingering injuries to be out there struggling.

Winning culture!

Vick won't work here. He, and most of the fanbase, will quickly wonder why he's not starting. EJ must not be questioned as our "franchise QB". Plus, odds are another team signs him a starter.

I think Marrone is awful and brings nothing in the way of innovation or intelligence, but even I wouldn't fire him now, unless there's a potential hire that's too good to pass up. Which isn't happening this offseason. Let him build his system... whatever it is... before the requisite 3 years passes and the public finally starts turning on him.
-
Goodell wouldn't allow losing teams to tank like that without fining them hard, and possibly losing draft picks.

Do any of the people posting this nonsense actually work for a living? I doubt it highly. How could they? I just cant wrap my noggin around the volume of idiocy here.. On a board where you'd expect knowledgeable football people. Thankfully, we do have some of those and I appreciate the hell out of that. Good grief though, there is a lot of basement "fluff" ...... and thats putting it mildly.
My opinion, and thats all it is. We have a good coach here. You can highlight all his failures and ignore his personnel decisions but in my opinion he's gonna be a winner and I'm damn glad we have him.
Who are you going to replace this coach with.....that is a better coach?
Sure...Gruden, Cowher et al will break their ankles rushing to Buffalo to coach. Not Happnin.
I'm proud to have Marrone coaching my favorite football team.
People who question Marrone obviously don't have jobs.
This is my new favorite homer post.

Buffalo 45 NE 42
Thad Lewis 6 TD passes and 400 yards. Now is your time, Thad. Put the team on your back.
-
Keep beating that drum.
Sure. The stupid teams reached for Manuel and Smith last year, and are now stuck in poor situations.
-
I guarantee, if a QB prospect falls to where the Bill pick, he won't be considered a better prospect than Manuel.
Manuel was considered 4th round talent by most. This draft is significantly better at QB than last year.
-
Oher's played right tackle mostly. And he's been among the worst the last couple years. No thanks, I don't think he's even an upgrade on Pears.
-
he could just be another guy saying what i want to hear
He is. You'll get there in ~2 years.

I really think the preseason spat with the media over Mario spooked him. I feel like he thought he was being called out as being a liar.
So, since then, he's been very open--too open-- on talking about injuries. In his pressers, he always says things like, "I am not lying here; just telling you what I know", etc.
He should just be like belichick and say as little as possible.
Agreed. That Mario situation was very embarrassing and unnecessary, and the set the table for how Marrone was going to handle the media.
I should just ignore Marrone... everyone gives him a pass and he is just so inept at everything.
-
Now I really REALLY want the Bills to win
That would lead to a fun offseason

Amen. So many people believe the clowns on GR55 who proclaim that all 1st round QB's should be the next Andrew Luck or RGIII, in today's NFL.
Not even Schopp comes close to saying that.
But please continue, EJ fans

Some to do with opponents, some to do with weather, typically harder for offense in bad weather (even though there are some monster high scoring games in bad weather this year).
Not just this year, every year in the long run. Wind (and very heavy precip at the time) are the only elements that lower scoring. Snow actually raises scoring. But, I won't complain, I've made some nice money knowing that on people overreacting.
-
Not to be a naysayer, but what were the record of our opponents in the 1st half of season vs 2nd half of season? That probably explains, in (large?) part, why we are so improved.
It also helps that the secondary was healthy then, and not being forced to play Justin Rogers.
-
The best "D", no. Carolina, San Fran, Seattle... they're loaded with talent that Buffalo can't match yet. Especially in run defense. If Barr slipped to us, I'd take him in a heartbeat. So much pass rushing skill, he'd be a double digit sack guy immediately. I don't think Mack is a good fit here in Pettine's defense, but I know that connection won't go away.
-
Unlike the rest of the Boston media, the Hoodie actually knows something about his opponents.
And the Buffalo coach.
-
Lol.
Don't read more national articles about EJ this offseason, because you're not going to see rainbows and sunshine.
-
Peters has had his attitude issues in Philly, also. It's a shame, he should be up there with the best of all-time. When he's healthy and all there mentally, easily the best LT in the game. I can't fault for the Bills for moving on from him, but it's frustrating.
-
Some teams get more attention, especially the NFC East, but they also get slammed more when things go bad.
The Bills will get respect when they start winning.
-
It's understandable to build the team's market, but in no way is it necessary.
Is Your Opinion Of EJ Tainted By The Fact That He Was A Round 1 Pick?

I know some teams liked Manuel. We also know 2 teams that didn't with proof (Cowboys 4th round on their sheet, Raiders). Consensus is likely that EJ was worthy of a Day 3 pick, but that doesn't matter, it only took 1 other team to draft him before the Bills. They took a risk on a likely bust. That's how it goes.
