  1. Yup. If you are under 50 and counting on social security to fund your retirement, you may be in for a big surprise.

Might want to change that to WILL be in for a big suprise. It isn't going to be there.

I'm growing more and more concerned as many Americans are dipping into their 401k's to live off of while trying to get through the recession. My neighbors across the street have recently begun living off of theirs since both of them lost their jobs. I'm quite sure they're not the only ones doing this.

The truth is our whole financial system is a giant Ponzi scheme that the Gov't is trying to prop up.

  2. Here's a funny prank for white elephant gifts: Go to Spencer's Gifts and get those fake lottery tickets. I did this a few years ago when we had a $5 limit on office gifts and bought four real ones and one fake one. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen when the Marine who ended up with the tickets scratched off the fake one that said he won $10k.

He was going nuts and showed the ticket to a few other people to validate what he saw. They were whooping and hollering until one guy read the fine print. Too funny!

  3. Good point. Bush tried to eradicate the middle class and almost succeeded. This would, ironically, have been the ONLY thing he'd ever succeeded at in his life. Unless, of course, you consider !@#$ing up (at which he excels) to be his goal...in that case, he's definitely a standout.

Are you really this deranged that you believe the tripe you write?

So in your world (or one of the worlds in your brain) Bush wanted two types of people, mega-rich and poor...right?

BTW, how many RV's, dune buggys and other assorted toys does an American need to qualify as middle class?

  4. What are you talking about???

Feinstein isn't bad, actually in my opinion, too acomodating to Bush, Boxer is rough a la Slaughter, but I don't get that off Kennedy... Do tell what you are talking about.

First off, both are worthless hacks IMO. You should see the ridiculous responses I receive from their staffers when I write them about issues. I'm not impressed with either, though if I had to choose a favorite, it would be Feinstein over Boxer. The Lefties here love to bash Palin yet completely ignore the ineptitude of Boxer. I don't get it.

Back on the subject of Ms Kennedy Schloshburg, what has she done that warrants an appointment as a US Senator? Do you like and support aristocracy in this country? The whole Kennedy name as a reason to appoint her is beyond anything that resembles common sense. That's all I'm saying.

  5. By the way, yesterday was Bristoal Palin's due date. The baby is apparently a boy...I found a list of potential names om the web. I kinda like the first two.

    Tractor Budweiser Johnston

    Goalie Dragon Johnston

    Rake Trinket Johnston

    Bronx Mowgli Palin

    Levi Johnston, Jr.

    Any favorites in there?

Of course you know if the baby's late enough those who claimed that Trig (Trig?! give me a break) is actually Bristol's first "oops" will have a field day.

Maybe they should name it NozzleNUT in the hope that it'll be schitzo like you!

Nozzlenut, you rock my world!

  6. If you can't see how WALL STREET has screwed the entire economic system then you are willfully stupid. As late as 2001 the big three were booking record profits. They were making money hand over fist.

They did EVERYTHING right. And I mean EVERYTHING.

The american consumer wanted big SUVs. The BIG THREE DID NOT hold a gun to anyones head and make them buy them. YOU the american consumer wanted to buy them. Bling! Bling!

After OJ killed Nicole, SUVs started flying off the lots. Because OJ drove a Ford Bronco and Nicole drove a Jeep. Free pub man!

Then suddenly, gas prices went to $4 dollars a gallon, because WALL STREET drove the price up with speculation and all of a sudden it's the big three's fault that we don't have small cars.

Then, suddenly, gas prices drop because CHINA has decided to go back to riding bikes (YEA RIGHT!). And the American consumer will return to driving big rigs . . . and all will be right with the world.

    Get a clue!

OK, now you're making sense... :wallbash:

  7. This is really getting interesting. The more information that comes out about her, the less attractive she is as a candidate. The Left would be having a epileptic seizure if the shoe were on the other foot.

If Patterson appoints her you people are going to get what you asked for.

But what can I say...I've got Barbara Boxer and Feinstein as my Senators...yuck!

  8. The union is doing the right thing.

They are waiting for the last possible moment before they act. They are waiting for TARP to kick in if they don't get bailout money.

Actually, the union and the White House have been together on this and that's a good thing.

The union is right to buy some time. All three CEOs and the union chief went to Washington to see if they could get bailout money.

There's no reason to cave in to these southern Senators because they want to union bust. I don't think the union should give away the benefits that the older retired people get.

People complain about legacy costs, wait until you get old and don't tell me about 401K's saving the day. They won't.

And where has the talk about buyouts gone?

They worked. The UAW people took them. Why not offer them now? It seems to me to be the fair way to go.

$150K and out the door to both former and current employees. It seems it worked once, why not again?

All I can say is wow! You are in a different universe than I am. First off, let me be clear, I was not in favor of any of the bailouts. Call me naive, but I feel that the sooner we take our medicine, the sooner the recovery can begin.

If you think all of those entitlement you mention above should happen, good for you. Just don't use taxpayer money to do it.

The sooner the unions are broken, the sooner Detroit can start being competitive again.

My Dad retired from Ford, so I'm not unsympathetic or unfamiliar with the issues, but life is all about competition. The reason the US is what we are is because of our competitive nature. This should never be compromised in my opinion. If the automakers want to remain competitive on the world stage, they had better start making the changes that will make them that way, like, yesterday. The problem is the unions don't get it and are living in the past...just like the people of Buffalo in general. But that's a different thread.

  9. Kudlow is a right wing string puppet

Would you rather keep these people working in jobs that already exist, at least for now, or would you rather find them new jobs--good luck with that? Because unemployment hurts all of us in the larger scheme of things

I'd rather not pour my grandchildren's money into a failed business model.

  10. Because he didn't stick a gun in their face and risk their lives. There isn't a dollar threshold that equates to violence.

So he didn't ruin one life, he ruined thousands of lives...nice.

I usually agree with most of what you post, but if this guy did what he is accused of, and the reports are that he basically admitted he is a scam artist, then he should be placed in a regular prison like any other common prisoner. In the meantime, he should be in a holding center instead of a seven million dollar apartment!

No it's not jealousy of the wealthy that makes me feel this way, its the disparate treatment in our justice system.

  11. Other than winning the birth lottery and being born into our brand of royalty what has she done?

Is she even an attorney? Some of you opined that being a political outsider will serve her well. Are you serious? She's an outsider? So is Nancy Pelosi.

Good luck with that WNY...Another limousine liberal. Good for you.

  12. Palin got crap because she was/is an idiot... Kennedy appears to be well spoken, understand how to deal with the press and has some dignity and understands, having been behind the scenes in a lot of politics, including within her family to at least know what is coming at her from the NY press.

That being said, I am not crazy about her being anointed because of her name.... Sounds like the Dems what to make sure they hold on to this Senate Seat and how better than a well known, well liked Candidate with a Kennedy last name....

P.S. Don't compare Palin to her... Palin gives Dan Quayle a bad name. :bag:

Seriously, what is so bad about Sarah Palin? While I don't want her running for President, she is a very impressive woman. She became the governor of Alaska by taking on corruption in her own party. I really don't want to have the "she's stupid" debate with you, but i would argue that she's accomplished much more with her life than that of Ms Kennedy without being born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

  13. You mean like these folks....

    http://www.nypost.com/seven/12162008/news/...hing_144414.htm

How about the charities he defrauded, theya re some of the biggest victims.

SAR Academy, a Jewish day school in The Bronx, is believed to have lost up to $4 million in endowment money placed with the firm.

The Chais Family Foundation, which gave more than $12 million annually to Jewish causes in Israel and Europe, has already shuttered its doors because of its losses.

Two Manhattan-based civil-liberties groups - the JEHT Foundation and The Rockit Fund - said they were set to close in January because of the fraud.

C'mon you're better than this jealousy-fueled rant. This was a crime of epic proportions and everyone hurting from it deserves some sympathy.

You're right that the scam if far reaching any many good people and organizations have been taken advantage of. I really don't hate rich people, but I guess I'm a bit beyond frustrated at the bailouts and golden parachute many of these crooks ran off with. I do not want the "Palm Beach Crowd" to be the recipient of my grandchildren's tax dollars so they can continue to live out their extravagant lives. I don't know that they are bad people, and admit to a bit of demogagery (sp?), so yes, you are right ..this was a bit of a rant.

As far as white collar criminals being coddled in summer camps, I say screw 'em. That dude should be thrown into Pelican Bay or Attica (I know-they're state prisons) in with the general pop.

  14. Ok, who's logging in under SD's account?

WTF does that mean? Wrong is wrong. You clearly have the wrong impression about me. People who steal >$50 billion should be summarily executed in my world.

I do have compassion for those who are hurting, but also believe in calling a spade a spade. As for the uber-wealthy who are crying about their losses...too bad. I don't begrudge them because their wealthy, but I absolutely hate their sense of entitlement, just as i do from those who do nothing for themselves and want Uncle Sugar to support them.

That's the nice thing about principles. <_<
