To suspend before legal matters are resolved would be to assist Prosecution or Plaintiff's attorneys by giving them an institution to point to that has already completed their own investigation and held the player responsible for the crime or allegation.
Rashee Rice's criminal matters have yet to be resolved. Justin Tucker's allegations didn't include criminal charges or a civil suit. This is also why Von Miller got suspended fairly quickly compared to others - his girlfriend didn't go forward with criminal charges or sue him.
There is also a rule called “The Taylor Swift’s boyfriend plays on my team” exemption.

Lol Bama has three non conference games. Two of them are Louisiana-Monroe and Eastern IL. I half expect them to play a online university at some point soon. The tide rolled 352-0 over The University of Phoenix who participated over a Zoom call Saturday! The UP defense couldn’t stop Bama as they were not physically present. The score wasn’t higher because of 87 delay of games assessed when Phoenix’s offense was supposed to be on the field which burned clock.

Golf has always been far and away the most stringent on applying it’s rules. A prominent golfer, I think Ray Floyd, not sure, was disqualified for kneeling on a towel to keep his pants clean on an awkward shot. That’s because the towel “elevated his stance” or some such. But Rory shouldn’t have to answer for an illegal club? Why is that? Because you’re a fan?
