  1. I look at Miami in Marino's last year, Dallas a while back, Philadelphia two years ago, Washington a bunch of times in the past. The team that finishes #1 in free agency doesn't seem to have success.

I'd be happy with a SS brought in to compete with Searcy, and re-signing Byrd and Levitre.

  2. This is just an educated guess on my part, but I sincerely doubt you'll have to trade back into the first round for Manuel. He was looking like a 3rd round pick prior to the Senior Bowl, but there's a chance he's a 2nd rounder now.

Most likely 3rd at best on a few team's boards, although I'd suspect he's hovering around the 4th-6th rated QB on most boards.

Couldn't the same thing be said about Nassib? Yet many fans want the Bills to trade back into the 1st or take him in the 2nd because he played for Marrone.

  3. I say this every year because it's true every year.

There is always -- ALWAYS -- at least one QB who was OK in December, or maybe even a prospect in December, but then shoots up the draft charts because the experts get impressed. Last year it was Ryan Tannehill. The year before that, Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker. I'm always amazed at the guys who get better every day without playing a game than they were playing every week.

Maybe some guys actually are worth it (Tannehill showed better than anyone expected, but let's not get carried away for one season); others make you wonder what everyone was so excited about. That's where I am on Glennon: he could be this year's Combine champion who never does anything else.

Locker was considered the number 1 pick entering his last year at Washington. Gabbert was considered the 2nd best QB prospect in that draft and worthy of a top 10 pick. If anything Ponder flew up draft boards. Mallet fell because of off the field issues.

  4. I watched Nassib and he didn't impress me at all. I could live with Barkley, Smith, Jones, or Wilson. Didn't watch enough of Glennon to make a judgement. Just play the rookie. If they take a guy in the 2nd without playing him and at least seeing what they've got I think they're taking a QB again next year if picking around the same spot. I don't think that a QB will be taken in this years draft before the Bills pick. I'd rather the Bills reach for the top rated QB in rd 1 than reach for a guy like Nassib in rd 2.

  5. I think he left when Fox was fired...wasn't retained under Riviera

Fox was fired in 2010. Could've been a situation where Fox is told he has to let a few guys go in order to retain his job for the 2010 season then was fired.

Just looked he left voluntarily. Was offered contract extension and decline to go to GB.

  6. You both are probably right. Do you think Chan is rethinking his decision not to get Jackson ready during the bye? And thus have him ready after one of the games that Fitz laid an egg in??

Fitz was not the only reason the Bills missed the playoffs for sure. Their was a period where the D started playing better and if the O had put up 25+ we probably would have had a shot at watching meaningful football in December.

Gailey was loyal to a fault. Spiller was clearly the best player yet seemed to play less after Gailey said he'd be getting 60% of snaps. Even if Jackson was ready I don't think Gailey would sit Fitz.

  7. The reason for the Titans was because of hasselback starting...hes better than locker but has to ride the bench. Other issue was poor decisions by Gailey.

With the Jets they were actually motivated..not because of something buffalo did byt what the NY press did just prior to the oponenr and totally tipped them apart which motivated them. Since then you saw the real Jets.

Hasselbeck's numbers vs the Bills were pretty average. They're giving up the most points in the league. Bring back Wannstedt would be as big of a failure as bringing back Gailey.

  8. McKelvin was an upgrade over Aaron Williams. The coaches didn't see that at the start of the year? Kyle Moore should've been playing ahead of other guys at the start of the season. Since Mario had the wrist procedure he's been much improved. Wannstedt has to go. The Jets scored 48 and the Titans scored 35, were those offenses impressive last night? The defense has some talent, not getting any sort of performance has to cost some people jobs.
