Got to be a tee shirt day at TBD tailgate party.  Raffle I can come up with a couple things. Get 89 to come

a big thank you Scott for TBD.

    You still hang around.

I pop in from time to time for a little perspective and to see what topics are on other fans' minds but I generally don't have the time to reply, chat, or engage.

Good to see that guys like you and the Panda are still here - hope you are well!

Sorry guys, looks like I can't post my stuff here. If rules change, please consider letting me know. I'm not backed by much and I'm trying to get my stuff out there while working my ass off.

I liked your write up.  Maybe consider submitting your articles through the link at the bottom of the TBD main page.  In the meantime, are you on Twitter?  That might be qa good way to get your work read if you are unable to do it via TBD.

  3. As OP asked for favorites, I knew I'd have a tough time getting down to one but I didn't expect to get stuck at seven.

    1. Jim Braxton
    2. Lou Piccone
    3. Bobby Chandler
    4. Shane Conlan
    5. Leonard Smith
    6. Mario Clark
    7. Reuben "Stone Hands" Gant

    Growing up I loved:

    Lucius Sanford
    Isiah Robertson
    Ben Williams
    Sherman White
    Jerry Butler

PS That 1980 team was good enough to win it all.

Guessing we're close to the same age because a lot of those names popped in to my head too.

As an aside, I thought Lucius Sanford had the coolest name in the league!

  4.

The answer is "yes" (injury, character stuff). Fractured his ankle last November, required surgery. Titans waived him at the final roster cutdown and Dolphins picked him up but he apparently didn't stick. Unclear why. It is possible he is not fully recovered from injury.

He was arrested, charged, tried and recently found not guilty of assault and battery for a bar fight that took place in Virginia Beach 2 July. Not clear what action if any the NFL will take if any since Goodell is like the 350 lb gorilla in the room

    Character issues? That's a stetch.

Even the complainant testified it wasn't Hunter who broke his jaw. Most locals believe it was just another case of VBPD's 2nd precinct targeting the biggest fish at the ocean front (as they are prone to do).

Hunter does not have the reputation of being a trouble maker or having character issues here in his hometown.

  5. Then as fans you have lost your way. Hope for lots of QB hits and sacks sure.. Hoping that it hurts the person a tool move.. Like pats fans rooting for P manning last year get his neck hurt again.. I called them tools as well...

Methinks you might be confusing hurt with injure.

I learned the difference from a hockey coach when I was a kid. Paraphrased, every time you make contact, you do it with intent to hurt. You want him to feel it and to be sore from it. You hit him hard and he's going to be thinking about you next time you're on the ice with him. But never hit with intent to injure - that's a different thing all together.

And if you don't believe that 100% of NFL players target an opponent's hurt or sore arm, shoulder, wrist, etc, you may be incredibly naive.

  6. Does anyone remember a season where the fans and media gave up on this team so quickly? I've never seen it like this so early and that includes the 3-13 season. Maybe because that year, we knew we were going to be bad.

But seriously, I can't find a single article of hope, optimism, anything.

Things were much more grim in the mid-80s than they are now - fans and media gave up on the team before preseason games started.

There was no realistic expectation they would finish above .500 and in '85 nobody was shocked when they posted a second consecutive 2-14 record.

Rich held 82,000 people and while I don't recall exact numbers, it seemed half full at best. - and half of the people that were there rooted for the visiting team.

So yeah, it's been worse IMO.

  7. Yes, because believing that natural foods and supplements that contain active ingredients in their natural form are somehow better than man made ones is insanity apparently. Funny how those repeatedly are shown in studies to work better than prescription drugs in many cases with none of the side effects but yet people who aren't brainwashed by the Western Medicine pharmaceutical companies, doctors, hospitals and the FDA who all work in conjunction with each other to push people into drugs at the earliest opportunity are somehow "quacks".

Well, count me as a quack. Almost 41 years old, jacked with abs, 183 lbs at under 10% body fat on no prescriptions with all blood work normal. I'll take my chances doing things my way. I see how "their way" works on a near daily basis and I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I can do better.

If only you read the article you'd realize the guy's a quack for claiming his "natural supplements" prevented concussions.

  8. how could they not expect Harvin would be available? everyone knew he would be cut. i don't believe that for a second. maybe he meant that he didn't expect that he would be interested in joining the Bills. they probably thought he would want to go to a team with a QB. i'm honestly shocked that he would want to play for us too. if i was him i would play for the league minimum in NE and rack up 1000 yards receiving and then get a big long term contract next year.

I was surprised to hear Crabtree was interested in coming to Bflo, too. Maybe it's the difference having a known player's coach makes?

  9. Translation - "This Pats fan is mad Percy signed with the Bills instead of New England."

Not necessarily. Harvin has a long (and I mean long) history of being a trouble maker.

In high school, he was suspended a game as a junior for a post-whistle unsportsmanlike penalty. As a senior, he was suspended the last 2 regular season games of his high school career for shoving a ref and using foul language. A couple months later playing basketball, he started a fight with an opponent that resulted in the game being called and a ban from competing against out-of-district schools. That meant he wasn't allowed to participate in state track events in the spring, too. He had won 5 individual state track titles up until then but he cost himself the opportunity to win an unprecedented 6th title and perhaps even worse, his teammate's an opportunity to win a team state championship.

One of his former teachers, now retired, told me he was the most ignorant, arrogant,self-absorbed, and self-entitled students she ever met. In fact, the only time I've heard her cuss was when she called him "just a real ass."

That's the kind of kid he was. Extrapolating that to adulthood - and with stories we've already heard about him - Rodak is right. He might not be worth the trouble.

Hopefully Rex can keep him in line all season. But the odds appear to be against him.
