Dude they were winning 27-0 at the half. I don’t care how many FGs you kick you don’t lose that game bc of FGS or being aggressive. They melted down in an epic fashion. I can’t say it any better than that.
man’s to whit it should be 17-0 Bills had they taken the 3. Scoring on 3 straight possessions

I agree it takes a special mix of things to lose a game like that. Still, you can't help but think they took their foot off the gas.

For what it's worth, this 4th down bot agrees with you in the Chargers case but the Bills decision was a strong go-for-it

Seriously we have underused Dawson this year. He is really, really good. The second best weapon on our team after Stef. Next year he has to be used like that.

I do wonder if it took him some time to get mentally right after Luke, as some of us have discussed.

No an epic meltdown cost them. Geez.

If you don't think kicking multiple <30 yard field goals was part of the problem, I don't know what to tell you. You gotta go for the throat.

Yep, that's true. It was more about the guys that went right around that pick that I just thought were better.... either Humphrey or Myers as IOL, Cisco who went to the Jags at safety and if you had to have a second defensive end Joseph Ossai who went to Cincy and after losing his entire rookie year to an ACL has had more production than Boogie this year in a very similar rotational role (actually Boogie has played a bit more than Ossai). Now obviously my board and Brandon Beane's board are not the same but they said they had Boogie "sticking out" so suspect they had him graded much higher. I remember when it got to that pick being pretty excited because there were lots of guys still on my board who I was high on and thought were in play and then they picked someone I was lukewarm on.

Yeah it really would have been nice to plug Humphrey or Myers into the line. Still hoping Basham can do something over the next couple years.

The Bernard pick is going to be a head-scratcher for a while I fear. Curious to know who you would have liked in that slot instead?

  4. Congrats to Milano, though I also thought Tremaine deserved more votes. At the same time I wouldn’t  have voted him over the guys that made it.

I think the results and how many Bills were represented is accurate. Didn’t have a lot of truly dominant players this year but as a team we have played well.

Their AV measure is essentially their NFL equivalent for WAR (MLB; wins above replacement) and VORP (NBA; value over replacement player).

    Here are the leaders: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/leaders.htm.

Hurts really had a great year too; such a great runner (13 rushing TDs, passer rating of 101.5). I never expected it of him, and kudos to him for proving me wrong.

Allen was first overall last year (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/leaders.htm) and 3rd in 2020 (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2020/leaders.htm).

I like this stat and have referenced it often over the years. Even if you don’t think running QB play is sustainable, you know it makes a huge difference in the game. That’s why you see Allen and Hurts up top and even Fields in the top 8. I do think Fields was put in a catastrophic situation in Chicago and has carried the offense on his back.

Regarding Hurts, I always saw him similar to Allen in that he had the physical tools (though not as elite as Josh) and he had the right attitude and if he put in the work and the staff built around him he could be great. He is a hard worker and a locker room leader. Happy to see him blossoming in year two.
