  1. The dude just isn't comfortable in the pocket for whatever reason. He had good protection tonight and just got all jittery and just bailed. Cardale is a long shot, but he is more composed than Tyrod and EJ in the pocket. There's hope for him at least. Pocket presence is something you either have or don't IMO.

  2. I'm happy the defense is coming together. Once everyone is healthy and eligible they could have something special. I'm worried if Rex is let go, the D will have to learn a new scheme and take a step back like last year. Any way possible they retain him as a defensive coordinator and hire an offensive minded head coach? Has that ever happened in the history of firings? I know a lot head coaches go back to coordinating, but ever for the same team right after??

  3. Just in reference to the first play, thought this might be nice for people to read:

Interesting that the safety would cheat to the opposite side of the field of Sammy in cover 3. Those are things Tyrod needs to be picking up on and exploiting.

Nice...promote that kid to team staff...

I don't know why we don't see it more often out of teams. I think it gives you a big advantage in the mental aspect of this game. And the mental aspect of this sport is under-appreciated in my opinion. There are so many ways you can use the mental part of this game to your advantage.

Get defenses playing scared by throwing deep early and often. Get inside quarterbacks heads and get them down on themselves by bringing overwhelming pressure early in games. Going for the throat on the first play from scrimmage after your team intercepts a pass. Stepping on the gas by throwing the deep ball on the very next play after your offense makes any sort of big play. (things like that)

I agree on this logic. Roman obviously wants Buffalo to be a run first and run heavy team. But I feel like a few deep balls and a threat of a big play can go a long ways in softening up the D.
  4. No offense Bill, but I don't think this is a good take. Watkins played a fine game and by all accounts from those at the game was open often.

The offense ineptitude probably has more to do with not taking chances and playing into the defense, only taking what they give you.

Also, not sure how to blame some of Taylor's sailing throws on Watkins. Taylor was just off yesterday. Let's hope that doesn't continue or this will be a long year.

Edit: and now here's proof from the first offensive snap,

WR at top, probably Woods, was wide open. I'm willing to bet there were guys wide open most of the day.
