Yep. And Beane double dipped at DE the following draft. I liked the strategy, but I definitely wasn't feeling the Basham pick. I was all for a defense heavy draft this year. I actually love it.

Seems like explosiveness is an area of emphasis this year. Was badly needed. D lacked it bad last year.

I oversee a sales team that has 27 sales people. 37% of our book of business is generated by the top 3 people. Is it better for me to give them everything that they need to go further or to spend time/resources worrying about numbers 25-27? That’s the WR argument. Who cares if your 5th corner or 5th DT sucks? I don’t care if my 25th best sales person isn’t good. I’ll never invest in them in place of those top 3 people that make wins happen.
I mean that I expect Keon to take a jump in his 2nd year. I think he is talented and will be a producer. I don’t feel like he’s a scrub.
Don’t get me wrong I love weapons and I want to set Josh up to kill.
But the defense is what is keeping us from a SB imo.
I’m thinking the offense will continue to be top 5 again this season and I’m ok with putting resources into the D.

I guess the bottom line is the offense is going to hum as long as Josh is the qb. Added some pieces in FA and the OL is basically still intact. Hopefully Keon takes a step and the Cook situation resolves itself. Defense is what is holding this team back. I’m ok with going D heavy rest of draft.
