Dorsey is a problem.  He just is and for a lot of reasons.

Josh also has a problem where he sometimes does not make the better decision.  He is a gunslinger and has 100% confidence in his arm, and he should.  But he also needs to know you don't have to score on every play or get a big gain on every play.  It's ok to get 6 yards instead of firing a 30 yarder down field.

My biggest concern:  Post Game Interview by Dorsey - He literally said they are trying to limit Josh and keep him safe.  To me, that is a huge flaw in Dorseys approach.  We are in "lose and go home" portion of the season, let Josh take off with his legs.  One thing that was painfully apparent was the lack of runs by Josh against Miami, something he has TORCHED them with on a regular basis.  Not only were we not flat out running the ball enough or effectively, but they took Josh's legs out of the game too much.  TURN JOSH LOOSE in that capacity.

Against Cincy and likely KC next, running the ball and controlling the clock to limit the number of drives Mahomes and Burrow get will be huge.  I would much rather see Josh and the Bills take a 10+ play drive to score and chew up a bunch of time then score in say 5 or 6 plays.  That is where Josh needs to use his head and take what the defense is giving him rather than force lower percentage passes down field as frequently as he was trying against Miami.

So for me, its a 2 part problem...some Dorsey and some Josh.  Do NOT neuter Josh, just call plays that scheme some easy throws open and have less guys running deep.  On several plays, we had 2 or 3 guys going deep with one underneath.  If Josh sees one of those deep guys get a step or one on one, he is gonna fire before he ever reaches his check down in his progressions.

If we struggle to run, then scheme up some short throws or screens to the RB as an extension of the run game.

Right. It’s more than okay to take shots down the field. It’s not okay to make taking shots down the field your entire offensive identity.

Mahomes knows what Brady knew: yards after catch are still passing yards. Let the wrs/rbs get the ball in the short and medium fields and make plays

    Sometimes Josh Allen deserves criticism.

    Sometimes Ken Dorsey deserves criticism.

Anyone who is only ever willing to criticize ONE of these guys is wrong. ALL of the fault and blame for failed plays or dormant stretches of offense do not belong to one or the other. Both mess up sometimes. That's the truth.

Any time someone points out a mistake that Josh makes, it shouldn't elicit a mob with pitchforks. He's an excellent quarterback and we all love him, but he doesn't turn water into wine. The hero worship really gets out of hand sometimes.

Likewise, Ken Dorsey has coordinated an offense that, overall, has been successful this season, as the #2 PPG and #2 DVOA rankings illustrate. Still, pointing out his instances of poor decision making or poor play calling should not elicit accusations of being a "negative Nancy".

Criticism is okay. No one is perfect. Not Josh, Not Dorsey. It's okay for fans to point out times where they mess up.

I was listening to some ESPN analysts who were baffled that after Hines runs back two TDs last week that we don’t have some exotic packages set up for him this week.

I just think Dorsey’s ceiling is this. Our offense is very very straightforward. It’s a lot of Josh improvising and boring route trees. There isn’t a lot of different looks.

For the umpteenth time, the first interception was on John Brown for cutting off the route (and then compounding it, by not tackling Howard at the 5 yard line).  The second bounced off Beasley's chest.

Shakir was wide open and dropped a perfect pass that as stated in my thread cost the Bills probably 15 points and then the second int doesn't happen and in all liklihood the strip fumble (which was a helmet to helmet hit).  Gabe as always did too drop a long ball.

I vaguely remember a strip sack going for a TD bc he didn’t protect the ball again. Was that Sunday? Or September…

So fire Dorsey and bring in a Norv Turner or Darrell Bevel type?

I was honestly hoping McDaniel would get fired. I think he’s a solid OC and could tweak Josh’s game to be more efficient with more calculated risk.

Waddle dropped one that would have put them around the 30 yard line early in the game.  And you're conceding a TD on that drive?  The Hill drop was a 8 yard pass on the Miami side of the field, and you're claiming it would have been a game changer too????  Not even I'm so cynical.

You quoted my post but said nothing about that I said as I pointed out drops (and catches too) on perfect balls that somehow shows Allen making the wrong read.  That was a joke video imo.

Espn just said Waddle had three drops. The one was on our 28. Maybe a TD maybe a FG. Either the way we won by 3. He makes those catches, we’re in trouble.

  6. I don’t hate Dorsey, it’s just clear Josh is calling the shots. Next year, Josh needs a veteran OC to keep up with his growth. Someone who can take him to the next level and put him in a position to excel in a system where he’s the captain of the offense not the entire offense.

Some here love the idea of three yards & a cloud of dust offense.....🤣🙄

Just watched the video in the thread and see Gabe drop the long ball (i.e. the semi-contested catch we haven't seen all year).  Shakir drops a perfect 54 yarder, Beasley causes an Int as it bounces off his chest.  Brown breaks off route resulting in another interception.

The best is the video showing the perfect read to Davis (was a nice catch as underthrown) and anticipating and hitting Diggs for 50 and just missing him on the first play from scrimmage.

I say double down given the same opportunities.

Drops go both ways. If waddle and hill catch their passes, we lose this game. Deep shots are fine, but the high risk, high reward long ball is not a real offensive strategy.

How does he do it? Josh Allen's offense put up 34 points yesterday with three turnovers (call it 27 if you want to deduct 7 for not eating the fumble). Joe Burrows no interception team put up 17 points yesterday.  34 points should be sufficient to win most NFL games.  17 points is not.

During the course of the season Burrows, Allen and Mahomes were all among league leaders in interceptions.  Why are these teams not cellar dwellers?

The 1970's caveman mind set the is pervasive on this board seems to believe that a time consuming drive where they other team takes possession of the ball at their own 20 after a punt is a great offensive outcome, but a pick off in the endzone brought out to the 20 is an epic disaster.  In fact, these are identical outcomes.   Understanding that, is how you learn that a QB putting up 34 points with two interceptions had a good game (not great, but good).

True. The issue I’ve seen this year is Josh is making really good heroic plays for TDs but had to do that because he put us behind the 8 ball earlier in the game. He’s cleaning up his own mess. Maybe if he played cleaner earlier, we wouldn’t have to keep sweating 4th quarters.

Stop! All evidence to the contrary. Eight straight wins! Just to make sure you hear it because I’m not sure it’s getting through: eight straight wins! Your quarterback doesn’t regress when you win eight straight games. Not even debatable. All quarterbacks make bad throws including Burrow and Mahoney. You have no sense of perspective on this.

I despise ANY injuries. All this does is give the Phins false hope that things might have been different if he played. The Phins have been a pretender all year....but somehow they don't recognize it. Must be all that salt water lowering their IQ

During the patriots Super Bowl runs im sure they were very concerned about the optics of beating JP Losman twice a year. It really sullied their legacy.

GMFB this morning was joking about how you won't see or hear from Kingsbury for a long time. He's going on a vacation for a loonnnnnng time.

He may coach again, but to me it sounds like he is quite comfortable laying low for a while

I believe it. I was listening to his interview on pardon my take and he just seems like the anti coach. In a good way. But definitely a guy that’s not afraid to walk away.

  11. I would be okay with how the Bills play offense this year if I didn’t see them play last year. I know what they’re capable of and it’s unsettling to watch them stop and start.

Huge plays followed by bad plays and turnovers and stalled drives. I’m not sure what has changed but it would be nice to get back to basics and see way way more running.
