  1. I'm curious for your answer then. If the Bills were to go 10-6 every year for the next 5 years, but never win a playoff game, would you consider them a successful team?

I would consider them having more success than a team that can't win more than 8. Not the best team in the NFL, but if you make the playoffs, you're top 12.

In another sign that Marshawn Lynch is poised to come out of retirement to play for his home town team, Lynch is at the Raiders’ facility in Oakland today.

Former Colts punter Pat McAfee reports in his new position as a Barstool Sports contributor that Lynch is at the facility talking to team officials.

  3. Who is in a division with the Patriots? And who is in a division with the Browns? reverse the two and I see the same record... Tyrod is a more than decent QB.

    You're kidding, right?

The Bengals have to compete with 2 very good teams every year in the Ravens and Steelers. In fact, the NFC North regularly puts out 2 playoff teams almost every year. When you have 3 teams that regularly compete for the division title, it ain't easy to always make the postseason.

Yes, the Browns suck some years. Some years the Dolphins and/or Jets suck. Lame excuse.

  4.

I suppose it comes down to how you define success. The Bills have appeared in 4 Super Bowls since the last time the Bengals won a playoff game.

If it was still 94, I'd say we've been more successful.

If TT had led us to back to back 11-5 and 10-6 seasons and two playoff appearances, he'd be considered a successful QB, there would be less debate, and he'd be making more money here because we would never pretend to consider letting him go.

    That's really it.

  5. You are using alternative facts. Dalton has more INTs and I didn't see fumbles lost on there but went to another spot to check and Dalton lost more.

You said "it is insanity" and that is why I went through that exercise (again). Let's look at the facts instead of what we think is reality. They aren't terribly different. They are pretty close in just about everything but sacks. Dalton has the advantage but also has played with the superior pass catchers. Again, Dalton is underrated in real life and on this list. He's a good QB.

We use 15-14 here because that's really what happened. He did "start" that game just didn't take the first snap.

Here is the problem. They are "pretty close" doesn't mean to you what it does to me.

You see a WR who catches 100 balls for 1400 yards and 10 TDs and a WR who catches 80 balls for 1200 yard and 8 TD's and you don't think one is better than the other. I disagree.

The stats bear out that Dalton is superior in just about every category. On a per throw basis, better. On a gross stat basis, better. On an eye test basis, better. On a consistent level on success in the NFL basis, better. He has thrown 3 more INT's. That's all TT has got. But it's easy to not throw picks when you play not to lose.

The argument is not "would you take TT on the Bengals over Dalton on the Bills." The argument is that Dalton has clearly performed and played better than TT. The stats bear that out, repeatedly. Making the argument that 2 guys are "close" when 90% of the stats (not an exaggeration) are one sided is ridiculous. There is a reason that one was an MVP candidate in 2015.

    http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/183541/five-reasons-why-andy-dalton-is-the-leading-mvp-candidate

Like come on please. Dalton has shown he can lead a team to 10+ wins repeatedly. He has shown he can bring a team back repeatedly.

You can continue to do your exercise of demonstrating that TT is worse than Dalton in just about every stat you link and then telling me it's crazy to think he's obviously better. It's an interesting tactic. It's like telling me EJ's rookie year was close to Derek Carr's, except for all the numbers being better for Carr. Someone's bias is clouding their judgment here, but it ain't me.

  6. I am on it. Dalton 12.0 YPC, 7.9 YPA, 61 sacks, 4 GWD, 14 fumbles. Tyrod 11.9 YPC, 7.4 YPS, 78 sacks, 3 GWD, 13 fumbles. I'm not seeing this chasm that you keep insisting exists (outside of sacks)? I've said I'd have Dalton a few spots higher (and above TT) but your bias is clouding the facts. They aren't terribly different.

If you'd do the exact same drill with Tannehill you will find that TT actually has been more effective. I'm not going to put this together all night but you get the point.

I mean when every stat is better (you ignored fumbles lost), one is clearly better. Dalton has more TD's, less INT's, better YPP, better completion, less sacks, etc etc etc.

You continue to post that TT is worse than Dalton in every single stat and you don't understand why he's clearly better?

Says who? Dalton has peaked and is on the downside already. Take away AJ Green and he is a terribly flawed QB. Give TT a healthy Watkins and 31 of 32 GM take TT over Dalton any day.

I forgot that was why TT with Sammy Watkins almost all year in 2015 was an MVP candidate and Dalton with AJ Green all year was a pleasant surprise who had to beat EJ and Cassel out in camp getting paid $600k a game.

  7. Doesn't change the fact that Dalton has 50 TDs in 29 games and Tyrod 47. Dalton has 15 INTs, Tyrod 12. Dalton is 16-12-1, Tyrod is 15-14. Dalton accounts for 268 yards per game, Tyrod, 248 yards per game. I have Dalton above him but let's not act like it is insanity. That is what I said.

You're welcome to look at YPA, sacks and fumbles too my dude. And GWD's/4QC.

32 out of 32 GM's take Dalton over TT. That makes it insanity, IMO.

  8.

You really need to spend more time on Air Raid. It's just another form of spread offense. There is nothing about it that makes a QB fall apart in the NFL. Spread offenses have just started to be successful transitioning to the NFL (as NFL systems become more college and spread like) and Air Raid systems are getting top prospects now. So your rule will soon be shattered multiple times. The only relevant item is the play under shotgun. Yes, that is true.

Leach, often regarded as the Air Raid’s godfather, says his system is derived from many wishbone principles: distributing the ball to all five skill-position players. Except his offense focuses on doing that through passing. The coach also emphasizes that the NFL has borrowed from his playbook.

“It’s indisputable that most of the NFL is copying us and doing Air Raid things,” Leach says. “The Patriots have total Air Raid influences, the Saints have total Air Raid influences, the Packers, the 49ers, to a lesser degree Seattle, the Broncos for sure(Dennison). It’d be easier to say the ones who aren’t influenced by it.”

But the Air Raid alone isn’t the only reason some evaluators are skeptical of players like Falk. “Of course it’s great if a guy has big production, and you’re more likely to find that if they’re in an Air Raid system,” says an AFC personnel man. “My concerns with a guy from the Air Raid are the same as any guy who ran a spread offense. Only a fraction of the snaps they take are transferrable to the NFL.” The two biggest differences: commanding a huddle and taking snaps under center.

“No question when a guy is learning how to play under center, the footwork needs to be worked on,” says UMass coach Mark Whipple, who was the quarterbacks coach for the Steelers during Ben Roethlisberger’s rookie year and the Browns during Weeden’s first NFL season. “The verbiage is a challenge for rookies no matter where they come from.

I'm so impressed. You have 195 posts in this topic. You so comfortably have the lead, #2, #3 and #4 combined barely come close.

Which means if Mahomes sucks, you're may have to change names

  9. He's been virtually identical to Dalton the last 2 years. Dalton 3 more TDs, 3 more INTs. It's certainly not insanity but one of those "subjective" spots. I would flip flop Dalton and Tannehill and I may slide Wentz down a few spots. Cam is too low as well. Bradford too high.

Oh Kirby, no. Dalton was an MVP candidate 2 years ago. TT was a pleasant surprise.

  10. Think away... feel free.

You can be Sherlock Holmes and try to deduce motive from all parties involved, just don't pretend it's the obvious truth when all it really is is a guess... maybe an educated guess, but nothing more than that.

    Based on guy-on-message-board...

Dude... go look back at some of the crap you've been saying holding Taylor accountable for the 3rd down % of the team on plays where McCoy or Gillislee are running the football...

    It's jaw-dropping lunacy...

I can't even believe some of the stuff you've been saying in the last few pages like how no one is saying Taylor sucks just a few posts after FireChan said "TT sucked" in reference to 2016.

What's funny is that all of you that use the term "CoT" have an even more disturbing cult-like blindness and mob mentality. It's just getting ugly...

I assume this means you're admitting your opinions are also worth nothing?

  11. If he fit really well...why did they restructure his contract where it was a pretty big paycut and put another out clause? Wouldn't you want a guy who fit what you're doing really well locked up long term?

    I think it's because it's coach speak.

TT restructured his contract because both he and his representation believed the Bills would cut him if he didn't, and that he would not command that money in FA.
