Yes, you know, except for him (he looked incredible the other night by the way). I didn't realize that one first round rookie was the difference between players that are still in college being overrated or not.

Good job ducking the ridiculous fallacy in your argument that the quantity or quality of NFL players from a school has any bearing on the ones currently at that school.

One bad game makes a good player bad, huh? And one good season makes an entire team NFL superstars? I guess Tom Brady sucked after losing to Seattle, and Mario Williams is the best DE after our last game.

We can sum up our arguments as you being a knee-jerk response kind of person, while I look at the long term. I bet you thought Matt Barkley was phenomenal, but after tonight you hate him.

What do the current players have to do with past players?

I guess Jonny Manziel is overrated because hardly any Texas A&M players have made 'waves' in the last 20 years, huh?

You know, except the first round QB that plays on the Dolphins right now? Analogies only work when the situations are the same. But again, someone who resorts to name-calling in an argument probably doesn't understand that.

Oh, and I didn't realize everyone on ND is a freshman this year. I thought maybe some of them have been playing on the team for the last 3 years, and have had one good season. But that doesn't sound like a recipe for draft busts at all.

  3.

~30 ND players in the NFL so not sure what you are blathering about now. Regardless, that has NOTHING to do with your ignorant statement that ALL players on the current team are overrated.

If you think ALL players on ANY team are overrated, you obviously don't know what the word means. Are you 13? Do your parents know you're on the internet unsupervised?

    http://m.dictionary.com/d/?q=overrated&o=0&l=dir

Looks like the definition is to appraise too high or overestimate.

So if every players talent is "overestimated"(I used a synonym for you there, let me know if you need that definition too), that must mean that they are assumed better than they really are. Barely any ND players have made any waves in the NFL in the last 20 years.

So stick with the facts and leave your childish insults for the playground.

Not sure what your motive is but like the others, I'll soon put you on ignore.

FYI, Lee is from Bedford, Ohio which is a suburb of Cleveland.

He feels very much at home in Buffalo, regardless of the season.

So he's from a suburb in Cleveland and feels at home in Buffalo? Interesting logic, I would have thought he would feel at home at his actual home.

  5. Kid is a born winner. Set all sorts of records in WNY HS football. Freshman this year QB at UB. Came in a few weeks ago and has been lighting it up, 3-0 as a starter. Has size and all the intangibles to go along with a cannon arm. Jim Kelly said he was one of the best WNY football players he has seen in a decade. We let Gronk go? Will we let Licata go?

I agree. Obviously a devoted Bills fan if he's from the area. Wouldn't be surprised to see him taking Fitz's job next year.

  6.

What is irritating is those who think that if the offense scores x number of points, then the defense has the responsibility to win it. I want a "lets set some records" offense who doesn't care how much the D is holding them to.

This will never happen. The Bills would need to win the QB lottery. Look how gambling on finding the second Montana worked out for Cleveland and Oakland.

  7.

    > the scheme which is tailored to his abilities is also ALL ABOUT SHORT PASSING AND YAC (not per attempt).

If Fitz completes a 5 yard pass, and if the receiver obtains an additional 15 yards after the catch, Fitz gets credit for all 20 yards when computing yards per attempt. There is no hidden benefit that Fitz is providing to the offense, which yards per attempt is failing to capture.

The reason the Bills' offense is predicated around the short passing game is because Fitz is incapable of throwing intermediate to deep passes with the level of accuracy one would expect from a backup, roster-worthy NFL QB. This is a very serious limitation. Fitz's inability to punish defenses for selling out against the short passing game is one of the reasons why his yards per attempt stat is not higher. Flutie had the same problem in his second year as the Bills' starter.

He threw some intermediate passes this sunday in perfect positions, but his season hasn't been the greatest.

  8. I disagree, as do most fans posting in this forum that I've read. CJ is leading the league in YPC avg and the fact he only gets 9 carries is totally wrong.

Look at the stats, the Bills have the 25th ranked passing offense and 6th ranked rushing offense. Letting Fitz throw 40+ times a game is why they LOSE!!

The KC game in which they won 36 rushes for 201 yards and 2 TD's. Fitz 10 of 19 for 178 2 TD's. Spiller was the feature back in this game 15 attempts 123 yards, 2 TD's

The Browns game in which they won 34 rushes for 138 yards, Fitz 22 of 35 for 208, 3 TD's Choice was the feature back, 20 carries 91 yards. Spiller left with a shoulder injury.

The Arizona Game in which they won 33 rushes for 165 yards 2 TD's Fred Jackson was the feature back 16 for 53, 1 TD. Spiller 12 for 88 1 TD.

Against the Jets 26 rushes, the Patriots 27 rushes, 49ers 19 rushes, Titans 24 rushes, Texans 15 rushes, Patriots 28 rushes. Which shows that when the Bills rush more then 30 times a game they win.

They key to winning here is running more (6th ranked) and Fitz throwing less (25th ranked)

    Complete and utter horse poop!

Spiller has been the feature back in games both this year and last year, and it didn't diminish his ability to make big plays, in fact the opposite is true and it gives him more opportunities to make plays. in 2011 Spiller played in 16 games, had 11 game starts and averaged 5.2 YPC. Which is pretty darn good. To put that in perspective only Jim Brown and Barry Sanders averaged over 5.0 yards per carry in their careers.

Chan Gailey is just a moron for being pass happy and letting Fitz throw more then he uses his RB's or for starting Fred Jackson over Spiller. IMO the entire reason the bills are such losers is because Gailey wants Fitz to carry the games by throwing 30- 40+ times when he should be running the ball more to the tune of 35 carries.

Spiller is the biggest play maker on the team and should be getting between 20-25 touches a game, every game!

The mere fact that Chan Gailey himself stated both RB's should be getting 40 touches a games refutes the OP point of this thread.

I didn't realize Fitz throwing 2 touchdowns a game is why we lose. So you're saying if we ran it every down, we'd put up 40 points rather than 32? Hmm.

    Can't argue with that "logic".

  9.

all i know is that i feel really good about fitz taking care of his own business. isn't that a kind of leadership. i mean, at that point in the game don't you just kinda say to yourself "that's MY quarterback".

We can agree with that. It's that kind of toughness that I admire about Fitzpatrick. Still, he inspires it in me, where's the rest of the team?

  10. i played all kinds of sports in school and out of it. and if that crap happens in the backyard, then there is a melee. if it happens on the field there are different rules. it wasn't like the run on miller by lucic.

I didn't say a melee needed to happen. I can show you hundreds of clips of QB's getting hit dirty and the offensive line getting back there to get in the guy's face.

Not one lineman even went back there, that's disappointing.

  11. i thought it was fitting of his character that he got right up and got in the guy's face. and there was no need for retalliation simpley because fitz was fine and the flag was thrown.

Every other team in the League backs their QB up and makes a scene. Even teams with "worse" QB's than ours.

I think it's gross no one even showed emotion. If you think that Fitz getting in that guy's face was "enough", you probably haven't played or seen what it's like to be on a sports team. Even in the high school and college level, players back each other up.

Sadly, this team lacks the heart, or sense of camaraderie to do anything for each other when it means something.

Speaks volumes about our defensive issues and QB - WR relationships.

  12. Both of these teams have horrible defenses and lose because of them. I will not deny that RG3 is better than Fitzpatrick in every way imaginable, but he can't even win with his defense giving up so many points.

I know you all say a new QB means we will be a playoff caliber team, but even an all star rookie can only lead his horrible defense to a 3-4 season so far.

Sorry, Fitz blamers, I know it's easy to hate on the average guy who makes mistakes, but even superstars can't work with a horrible defense.
