  1. I think that this thread will spin out of control soon. EJ is a bit of an unknown so we should be skeptical but he is still young. My thoughts are that he goes through his progressions slowly, is inaccurate, has poor footwork, and does not make good presnap adjustments. In addition, it is terrifying to me that they scaled back the playbook in week 14 or whatever it was. I did not even mention the injuries.

With that being said the Bills are committed to him this year. If he develops, great and if not you have a team in place with a lot of talent elsewhere. You can explore options in the draft or may even be in a position to take a run at a veteran. Guys like Cutler, Manning and Alex Smith have all changed teams at different points and went to franchises that were more ready to win.

EJ is certainly the biggest question mark and the most important player. Let's hope that the added coaching helps him to develop into the franchise guy that the Bills have lacked. He is certainly the type of character player that you route for.

I dont understand these statements that EJ is a big question mark. There is nothing to question, he is not an NFL QB, period dot. Get over it and lets move on. Please why dont you compare this hasbeen, or never was to Thad Lewis numbers? Becasue EJ flat out sucks. This is a deadhorse and this guy has shown his colors, not ready for prime time, maybe CFL.

  2. This argument seems to be going around in circles. Who is the best player on the field today Thad or EJ? Who gives you the best chance to win today? This is what the coach must ask himself. Could an injury influence his decision?.....absolutely. His decision however is based on who gives you the best opportunity to win. EJ's injury is to his LCL....a sprain to his knee that will limit lateral movement. He can still play. The coach wants a win though and that is the deciding factor. He feels Thad gives him the best chance. I'm sorry you think the Bills have no chance of winning anyway. It must be awful for you. The decision was still about winning.

If you think Thad is a better QB than EJ, you still have a lot to learn, little sis.

I have to say the proof is in the pudding. We win when Lewis is in the game, we lose with EJ. I mean its too bad a rookie coach picked QB who doesnt have it. Its always a crap shoot, unless his name is Luck. Move EJ to back up if he can even do that without tripping over a water bucket and hurting is knee again. The pick was bad, get over it and move on.

  3. I am tired of the hearing poor EJ missed pre season reps and they the poor boy was injured, and injured once again , three times one season. Thad came off the practice squad and pretty much outplayed EJ. So Now what happens when Lewis thrills the stadium and leads this team to a win over Miami? Will the EJ supports stop making excuses or will they continue? Just asking a question most are afraid to answer. EJ aint the answer, draft a QB Buffalo.

  4. Great post and that is certainly the truth. Everybody that posts on this board, aside from trolls, wants EJ to succeed in every possible way. When it comes down to it, we havent had a franchise qb since Jim Kelly retired in 1996. We are WAYYYY overdue for one. EJ, please keep improving and become that guy.

You can want and wish and pray all you want but EJ isn't a franchisee QB. Get over it and move on EJ is a bust. When a guy comes in off the street and out plays you and then you get another shot and you are even worse than the first time you set foot of the field, well its over. How the hell can you even put JK's name in the same post as EJ. Not even close and Never will be, draft a QB.

  5. ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHY THE F*&k CAN'T EJ GET OUT OF BOUNDS. THE MORE BACKUPS THAT START, THE MORE I START TO DISLIKE EJ.

Its too bad that we all will have to live with EJ and his steady decline as a QB. Every single game he got worse. We wont see a shot at another QB until this coaching staff gets canned, which is how it looks already. This team has a lot of good players but still cannot move forward. Run defense still sucks, we still run the ball the first two downs and then throw a three yard pass on third. We have seen this same stuff year after year. Except this year we suck even more. How's ole geno smith doing down there in NJ? Pretty dam good. How are the Bills doing, pretty crappy as usual. What is the single most common thing about this team? It cannot be the players or the coaches, yep ownership. Hate to say it but expecting anything different with the same ownership means the same results. Even Jerry Jones cant buy his way to a playoff.
  6. Love the optimism, and I agree out defense will be tough at home. I just don't believe our offense will be able to move the ball effectively and consistently. Unless we can hold them to under 10, I'm skeptical with Tuel at QB. I have a feeling that if they get up 7, it's gonna feel like an insurmountable lead. Also, if Tuel turns it over early, then offense will go into extreme conservatism mode and Tuel will be terrified to let it rip.

Yep its too funny most of you have already buried this professional football team. You dont think there is pride on this team? I expect a dogfight and actually belive Tuel will be cool as a cucumber. You underestimate the players on this team. Who the hell is the QB on the other team? Ok Petine time to turn the table , pull out the wizards book and show KC what a real defense can do. Alex is going to be terrified Sunday. Lets Go Buffalo!

  7. a great econ prof statement i remember was "if there is a line, the price is too low."

I could be wrong, but I suspect the sabres are much less of a small market team on an NHL scale than the Bills are on an NFL scale.

A superstar player though could change that. C'mon EJ. Please be that guy!!!

Don't get your hopes up, EJ is not that guy. He was outplayed by a practice squad guy last week. EJ isn't going to do anything for this team except spend time on IR.

  8. Geno Smith is looking great tonight. I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but in the back of my mind I keep questioning if the Bills FO made another draft blunder by passing on him.

I believe in E.J.'s potential but watching Smith throw deep and accurate passes makes me jealous.

I hope Marrone and co. take off whatever reigns they may have on E.J.'s playbook and let him loose.

I feel your pain. EJ is not the guy and never will be. All we can do is look for the draft next year. EJ hasn't gotten worse from his debut in preseason.

  9. He is not good enough to put a team on his shoulders ala Peyton Manning or Tom Brady without a good running game. He makes some nice throws, but plays poorly for long stretches of games, telegraphing throws and throwing INT's when under duress.

Yes, he might be one of the most clutch playoff performers ever. Yes, he won the super bowl and was super bowl MVP. In the playoffs, for whatever reason it seems like a switch flips for him, but during the regular season, the man just is not anywhere close to an elite QB, or even on the second level of QBs(Rivers, Romo, etc). He is an average to slightly below average QB during the regular season, much like we saw today.

He has won a super bowl, and by the way EJ looked today and the past few games, he cant carry a team anywhere.
  10. Im sorry, I have been a Bills fan since a kid, yikes, I remember like it was yesterday. I'm close to death now at 55. I have always blindly stuck with the Bills , it defined who I was. If chan gailey has a 2% chance of staying with this team them my seats on the 40 yd line are gone. Its a sad day when you get to the end of the line and see there isn't any light there, just more darkness. Please God help this team, let a real coach come to Buffalo.
