  1. I lost my husband on Thanksgiving Day to cancer. Yes he was a smoker. When first diagnosed they gave him 12-18 months. But they hoped with experimental drugs he might get 5 years. From diagnosis to the end was 5 months. I'm still struggling with it. Every time something needs to be done that he used to do I'm now learning to deal with it. I always thought I was self-sufficent but after 29 years I am realizing how much I relied on him. I would never wish this on anyone. Any kind.

Prayers are with the Kelly family during this time.

  2. I can't remember when I haven't had to show some form of ID to vote, whether it be a voters registration (which you could not get without proving residency and showing ID) or picture id. The last few years I have only shown my drivers license, then the workers verify my name and address on the list for the district. In Florida you can get a non-drivers id. Years ago when I lived in NY before they had pictures on the drivers license they checked the signatures when you signed in to vote to the drivers license.

Hospitals even ask for picture ID. My husband has had three out-patient procedures in a month and each time they asked for his insurance and id which they scan. I don't know how they handle it when you are an illegal or indigent. Maybe next time, we should just say we don't have insurance or ids and get our medical for free instead of having to pay for what the insurance didn't cover.

  3. In no particular order

    1. Daryl Talley--the heart and soul of the Super Bowl era teams.

    2. Bobby Chandler--too small, too slow. All he did was get open and catch the ball

    3. Roland Hooks--all purpose back who had the misfortune of being the best player (IMHO) on some not so great teams.

    4. JimBraxton--overshadowed by his backfield mate, but great ball carrier in his own right, but best known as a devastating lead blocker, as well as picking up blitzing LBs like no one before or since.

    5. Tom Sestak-- ex Marine who was 27 as a rookie. With more cooperative knees, he would have played longer, and have a little statue in Canton, OH.

Many others came to mind, like Kent Hull, Tony Greene, George Saimes, Robert James, Ben Williams, Ernie Warlick, Max Anderson, Phil Villapiano, Steve Tasker, Marlin Briscoe.

On the other side of the coin, my 5 least favorites:

    1. Art Powell--just for being a key figure in the worst trade in team history, sending Lamonica to the Raiders.

    2. Travis Henry--serial baby daddy, and criminal.

    3. T. O.-- he didn't really do anything to cheese me off as a Bill, but his body of work as an attention whore and prima Donna warrants a spot here.

    4. Call this an entry, Aaron Maybin and Tom Ruud. To me, same guy, different eras. First round "need" picks who showed nothing but an uncanny ability to knocked on their butts. I would have included Cousineau if he ever actually played for the Bills.

    5. Willis McGahee--did anyone ever leave town in a less classy manner.

Personally I would have put Tony Greene and Robert James higher than honorable mention. Loved those two when they played. They complimented each other in the defensive backfield. Definitely agree with Bobby Chandler. Loved the sideline grabs and the touchdown with just his toes in bounds. So sad when he passed away with cancer. Reggie McKenzie, great O-lineman, part of the Electric Company. (Some prejudice. I personally met Reggie and Tony Greene and they were both gracious to our group.)

Remember seeing O.J. practice as a kid at a local park when he was a rookie. (Yes, it actually happened. They brought the team in on school buses.) Can't disregard his career on the field.

I never really got crazy about Blesdoe. Hard to root for someone who played for the hated Patriots. He started well but ..... Worst #1 draft pick for Buffalo, Walt Patulski, Cousineau second. Quarterbacks not crazy about - several come to mind - Ferragamo, Marangi, Dufek, Johnson and yes, Trent Edwards. A couple hits and Trent was like a deer in headlights (wasn't sold on him even in the beginning).

  4. I am just as excited as anyone that we got Mario! Who would ever think we had a chance to land him here.

But come on guys, Mario is great, and will be great for us but we need more help and the draft alone is NOT going to do it.

Im not a GM or a football expert. I enjoy the game but have some street smarts too.

We dont have to break the bank on another FA but what Buddy should do is bring in some above average talent. There are plenty of players out there looking to prove something.

One thing is a fact is this guys. You have have all the talent in the world, but chemistry wins championships!

On a good note guys, please be safe this weekend! Its a drinking weekend and the weather will be nice. Keep you and your families safe from the drunk drivers!

    Go Bills!

One player does not make a team but it is a step in the right directtion. Remember when they drafted Bruce Smith, he was the catalyst for the building of the defense that eventuaally got us to the Super Bowl. It was the start. The defense got better. Our defense needs massive improvement. Hopefully, Mario is the catalyst.

  5. I said if Stevie was resigned, and they signed one big time free agent, I would get Seasons... well....

Section 138 here i come! Bought 4 of them this morning when they were hinting that it was close to a done deal....

I predict season tickets will return to or close to that of 3-4 years ago (55000 ish)....

Any one else that was on the fence get convinved today?

My husband and I bought our season tickets when Jim Kelly was signed. Had them until 1994 when we sold our business and moved south. Still love the Bills. Thank God for the internet. Hook up the Tv to the laptop and watch the games. Won't pay the price for Direct TV just for the Bills (don't watch a lot of other games). If we want to go out, many places have the NFL package to go to, including a couple that cater to the Bills fans. (There are fans all across the country.) If I still lived there I'd want seasons because this year the management really seems to want to improve the product.

  6. I understand pride in your city, but none of these players are from Buffalo. Mario Williams is just looking for the best situation for his life. It's not a personal offense to the people of Buffalo. He is from NC I think. The Bills haven't been to the playoffs in a decade, and lost 7 straight games last year. I WOULDN'T SIGN WITH THEM! I would sign with a team that has shown some consistency, for similar money.

He doesn't owe the people of Buffalo, or the Bills, ANYTHING.

Has he even ever played a game here? He isn't out to offend you personally...

Years ago there was a kid coming out of college and Buffalo drafted him #1 (but he actually was signed before draft day). Buffalo had aa losing record then. The defense was built around him. Bruce Smith is now in the Hall of Fame. Buffalo is finally making an effort to be competitive. Williams could be the catalist like Bruce Smith. And they are willing to pay.

  7. The welfare system was set up to help people get back on their feet with temporary help. It was not intended to support you for life. I knew someone who had two kids and was on welfare long enough to get some education and support her kids. She graduated and got a good paying job. It wasn't set up to be your job and you get a raise for every kid you have.

And that woman had 15 kids and only 37? Hope she had some twins or she gave birth at 12 and every year after that. The father of 10 of the kids was still only called her fiance? He's now in jail.

  8. What I have liked so far is that Buffalo has actually been scoring. They have good numbers in the red zone, where in previous years they stunk. And even when down can't count them out. I wish the defense wouldn't allow so much yardage but they have come up big at times. Already have one more interceptions thant they had all of last year. If Philly hadn't called their last time out, with Buffalo and inches, it might have been different. Good call by Gailey to go for it. Buffalo has for the most part been fun to watch this year.

  9. I'm really curious as to how many times the tuck rule has been enforced in the history of the NFL.

I believe it's only been used against the Raiders in 2002 and the Bills in 2011. Can anyone confirm

    this information?

I vaguely recall NFL Network episode focusing on the 2002 tuck rule travesty. I think it was said

that the tuck rule has been in the rule book FOR AGES but was never enforced until that 02 Raiders

-Pats playoff game. This of course left some Raiders & fans to wonder if the NFL was getting

revenge for Al Davis's successful lawsuit against the NFL. If it was, I almost admire their patience

in waiting two decades for just the right moment...now that's cold.

It's bad enough that the rule is ridiculous but when it's so seldom enforced it gets too easy for

the conspiracy minded to let their imaginations run wild. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the

Raiders and Bills have been the only ones (that I know of) persecuted by this rule while neither

franchise is a big favourite with the majority of NFL owners. Wait a minute...hmmmn.

We are through the looking glass.

Anyway, off I go to roam the streets wearing my trusty tin foil hat as I search through trash cans for

bits of string pausing only to scream revolutionary slogans and laugh hysterically. GO BILLS!!!

The only other time I could find was Jan. 9, 2011, playoff game between KC against the Baltimore Ravens.

  10. I am not an expert on football but I think if even a quarterback loses a football while still on his feet, it is a fumble. This "tuck rule" (because Brady was a wuss) is bogus. If at one point his arm was going forward and then pulls it back (pump fake) and fumbles, it is an incomplete pass based on the tuck rule, that is Bull. His knees didn't hit the ground, he was not down, the ground did not cause the fumble. He never let go of the ball until it was knocked loose. To me that is a fumble. If he brings his arm back attempting to tuck the ball in and retains the ball that is fair game for someone to knock loose. The league has gone overboard protecting the quarterback. Anybody playing in the league knows there is always the chance of injury no matter what position they play. How can you call that an incomplete pass when it was tucked up against the quarterback's body and never left his hand?
