  1. we have had some classic battles in the league the first two years and year 3 should be no different. this is a deep draft where prioritizing your bench players is important as there are several positions to keep track of. also, the limited bench size combined with a large playing roster size makes for waiver wire moves being encouraged and strategic. good luck all - the leauge fills up fast so jump on it now! the draft date and time is negotiable based on feedback i get from participants.

  2. just got a new computer about 2 months ago and felt like getting back into Medieval: Total War again for a little bit. i installed it on my computer and all is well until i get all of my settings (like which nationality and era, etc...) and click "Begin" at which point the game tries to load the playable section. the screen flashes, goes to the screen that is normally accessed by the escape button (with save game, settings, etc...), then the next click of the mouse (no matter where i click) just completely shuts down the game and i am back to my desktop like nothing happened. btw...the computer FAR exceeds the minimum specs needed to play the game.

  3. sad but true, i just got a dvd burner less about a month ago. my first attempt at using it was today, when i was trying to make a copy of "office space" - a movie that i have purchased previously but have not been to locate the actual disc in over a year. my friend had rented the movie last night and offered to let me borrow it, burn it, and return it to blockbuster for him today. my question doesn't center around whether or not burning it is morally right (i purchased it and lost it somewhere), but the fact that i encountered "copy protection" for the first time. is there a program that can get around it?

  4. you called it....i figured it out about 2 hours ago that i need to take off the connector (which looks suspiciously like it is not an connector and more like an actual part of the the HD) from the old one and put it on the new one. good call on that...i give you props

  5. can any one interpret this?

During the manufacturing process of earlier Compaq computers(this does not apply to Compaq's made after 1999), an identification number(BOMID) was written to the UIA area of a hard drive.

This BOMID identifies the model of the PC into which the hard drive is installed. Replacement or formatted hard drives do not contain this information.

Therefore, when using QuickRestore on a Compaq Presario PC that contains a replacement or formatted hard drive, QuickRestore will be unable to identify the model of the PC.

The following steps should rewrite the BOMID to the UIA area of the hard drive:

    1. Insert the QuickRestore diskette (when applicable) and CD into the

appropriate drives, then restart the computer.

(NOTE: If a QuickRestore boot diskette is not included with the

QuickRestore kit, you can create this diskette from the BOOTDISK

    subdirectory on the QuickRestore CD).

    2. From the initial screen (Program Language Selection), exit the

    QuickRestore utility.

    3. At the A:\> prompt type uiabomwr_xxx (where xxx is the BOMID of the

    PC), then press Enter.

(EXAMPLE: A:\>uiabomwr 201 would store the 201 BOMID (for a Compaq

Presario model 8772) into the UIA area of the hard drive.)

On later QuickRestore CDs, the uiabomwr.exe utility is located in the TOOLS directory of the QuickRestore CD.

  6. my old HD on my notebook burned out and i just got around to purchasing a new one today. i took all the proper anti-static precautions and all when i installed the new HD, but when i booted up the PC and tried installing windows i got a message saying there was no HD. is there something i have to do so that the notebook can recognize it? i thought they were simply plug and play.

  7. In fairness Bill, he backed off. What is disconcerting is that after all this time, people are still falling for this stuff. But looking at the venom in the Condi Rice thread, I can see why it stays alive.

    thanks for the acknowlegement....

however, i do want to state one last time: I WAS NOT saying the video was accurate. I was saying the the video brought up a lot of really good points (most of which are HALF TRUTH), but nonetheless, even half truths have to be explained. i assume this topic has been discussed and was a hot bed for some pretty harsh discussions in the past. sorry for re-opening pandora's box...

having really not delved into the issue of what really happened before, i thought now would be as good a time as ever. so i post a video that i watched. did i watch it with a critical eye? no...my bad. did i do research on it? no. why you ask? because i figured things would come up in discussion with you board members. based on the points that you all brought up, i was sure it would focus my research and possibly bring up angles to the situation that i had not thought of before. educational discussion - it is a good thing. now please stop accusing me - and for that matter any one - of being nieve or foolish because (s)he feels like learning more about a topic by discussing it on the board. i thought that is why the board was here.

  8. I see that from one of his previous posts that geggytah is a "10th grade global history and geography teacher".

It does make you wonder what other things he "teaches" to children in school.

    636615[/snapback]

that is kind of a low ball shot as i believe i stated a few times that i merely posted the link to bring up the issue as a topic for discussion. to outright assume anything is wrong - whether it be a conspiracy theory or to believe the events as the media has portrayed them to us.

  9. ok clearly i feel like the the outside guy here as it seems like you all have had this convo before with the board and probably several others. i am not one to get too involved in politics as i truly believe no matter who or what is in office - government sucks and you just have to do your best to get by.

all that said, i'm not saying any or all of that video is true. i just thought it was a good discussion starter - but now i have second, third, and fourth thoughts about that.

    good site btw: http://www.indybay.org/news/2005/12/1787340.php

  10. btw...i wasn't trying to "diss" melo with my original post. the language used in his "quotations" just is not melo-esque. it has "prepared by a PR man" written all over it.

not a good thing or a bad thing - just kind of funny/ironic to see those quotes come from melo who is popular with the younger generations of america because of his street cred due to his normal policy of speaking however the hell he wants to speak - the anti-lebron.

  11. low blow on the fantasy comment pooj....but not that low. as i recall, i was leading the league from week 1 to about week 7 or 8 - at which point camby got hurt and i picked up an injured bonzi wells to stash away because i knew i could afford a hit in the regular season standings due to my 8 game lead over second place. i took the hit, my team is healthy now, and i find myself looking to nail down the 3 or 4 seed. honestly though, i don't even care what my seed is - i would put a LOT of money down that i win this league regardless of who i play. i stacked my roster with players that have good playoff schedules.

  12. just 2 days ago i was commenting on how our lawn was just starting to green up. now my lawn has whitened up to the tune of 10 inches or so.....

i don't mind the cold weather as long as the snow comes with it. this winter has been miserable for me.

  13. i say this every time i have a question that i post....but i friggin LOVE this board....within 10 minutes i have sound advice from multiple parties on pretty much ANY topic that i can think of. THANK YOU BILLS NATION!

i'm not going to go back and check my records, but thanks for the advice. i guess i won't be doing anything with my rent paid this year though.....

for the record, i never even used tax prep software before this year...just the 1040EZ form from the IRS, so unless that form specifically asked for the rent i paid then i am 99.9999% sure that there is no issue

    thanks again all
