  1. Seahawks fired their guy.  They blamed him for everything ranging from the seasonal rainfall to the Amtrak derailment (Seattle fans are not very knowledgeable about football). BUT the guy was smart enough to look at Russell Willson, realize the talents he had, and build an offense around him that worked.  Injuries and dumb personnel moves left him w/o much of an O-line but I get sick of teams who bring in guys who have their own agendas and then expect the players to perform when they may not be a good fit for the scheme.  That just lends to endless rebuilding.  I'm tired of rebuilding.

  2. I just remembered a guy who worked for me is a Jags fan.  This nice post saved him from a whole lot of trash talk not to mention a potential damaging reference, LOL.

Let us just all be united in one fervent goal:  regardless of who progresses, if they face the Patriots, Tom Brady and Gronk must be annihilated.

    NCAA investigation and lawsuits[edit]

In 2006, reports surfaced raising questions about whether Bush's family received gifts in violation of NCAA policies.[12][13][14] The school requested that the conference investigate the matter, and Bush denied any impropriety.

Sports agent Lloyd Lake sued Bush and his family in November 2007 for not repaying over $290,000 in gifts. Lake also agreed to cooperate with the NCAA.[15] In April 2009, the Los Angeles Times reported that the NCAA had merged its investigations of Bush and former USC basketball player O. J. Mayo into a single probe of the Trojans athletic programs.[16] On December 28, 2009, it was announced that Bush had lost his bid for confidential arbitration in this matter and that the case would proceed to trial.[17] The case was settled in April 2010.[18]

On June 10, 2010, the NCAA announced major sanctions against USC. The NCAA found that Bush had received lavish gifts from Lake and his partner, Michael Michaels, from at least December 2004 onward, including a limousine ride to the 2005 Heisman Trophy presentation. As a result, USC was given four years of probation and forced to vacate its last two wins of the 2004 season – including the 2005 Orange Bowl – as well as all of its wins in the 2005 season. The Trojans were also banned from bowl games in 2010 and 2011 and lost 30 scholarships over three years. Running backs coach Todd McNair was banned from off-campus recruiting for one year after the NCAA determined he had known about Bush's dealings with the agents. McNair sued the NCAA for damages related to his dismissal and the NCAA lost. The judge in the case found the NCAA conducted the USC investigation and that of McNair with "malice".[19] The NCAA also forced USC to permanently disassociate itself from Bush.[20][21]

The NCAA determined that, given Bush's high-profile status, USC should have invested more effort in monitoring Bush's relationships. In announcing the penalties, NCAA infractions committee chairman Paul Dee said, "High-profile players merit high-profile enforcement."[22]

On July 20, 2010, incoming USC president Max Nikias stated that the school would remove from its facilities all jerseys and murals displayed in Bush's honor, and would return the school's copy of Bush's Heisman Trophy.[23] On August 12, USA Today reported that Bush had called USC's new athletic director, Pat Haden, and apologized for making poor decisions that led to the NCAA sanctions.[24] However, in a subsequent report in the Los Angeles Times, Haden said that the characterization of Bush's call as an "apology" was incorrect; Haden described it as "a conversation of him being contrite, but not an apology", and he also noted that Bush had not admitted to any specific wrongful acts.[25]

Amidst reports that the Heisman Trophy Trust would strip his award,[26] Bush in September voluntarily forfeited his title as the 2005 winner.[1][2] The Heisman Trust decided to leave the award vacated with no new winner to be announced.[27] The San Diego Hall of Champions sports museum returned the copy of the award it possessed back to Bush's parents in 2011.[28] Bush eventually returned his trophy to the Heisman Trust in 2012.[

Yeah how lucky was Pete Carroll that the Seahawks fired Jim Mora after just one year (a year in which the team record improved) to hire old Pete?  Poor Pete was SHOCKED at these nefarious activities.  SHOCKED and HURT.  Just like he's SHOCKED and HURT that any of his players would [insert law broken] or cheapshot other players on the field.  Poor Pete.  Poor Poor Pete. If everyone around him is a skunk, it's got nothing to do with him.

  4. Trump went after the NFL because they humiliated him decades ago. Trump isn't going to help the American citizens in Puerto Rico because they complained loudly at the tax dollars he cost them...and because they can't vote. Trump's world revolves around him. He's a psychopath. Period.

  5. Puerto Ricans pay most federal taxes.

    They are US citizens.

Trumps failed golf course (the one in P.R., not to be confused with his other failed businesses or his failed government) cost those taxpayers $33m.

They are not a priority because (a) they can't vote in US national elections and (b) they're brown.

    Period.

  6. Idk about everyone else, but my real issue with these particular protests is that I feel like it's misappropriated. To me, the flag does not equate to crooked cops, white supremacy, or even the government that they wish to protest. America is the collective, and is what gives you the right to protest, and I just wish they would protest the things they are actually concerned about.

So here's the thing - it's not about the flag. It's about using a bully pulpit to make a statement at a time when people are paying attention. Otherwise, why bother? Others have taken this and made it about the flag, about the song, and even about the military. It's not. It has nothing to do with any of them. It's just about some guys on their way to work who stop and make a statement. Then they go do their jobs. And what they're saying is "Hey, if you haven't noticed there are some bad cops out there killing people, and getting away with it. We should do something about it. Because what those bad cops are doing is un-American." No-one has to like it. But it's their right. And that's all there is to it.

  7. Richard Nixon almost got a mistrial for Charles Manson by telling the press during the trial that Manson was guilty. Some idiot attorney brought the paper to the trial...Manson saw it and held it up (which is why no mistrial, had someone else done it, different story). The point is when you're POTUS you're supposed to choose your words carefully knowing the impact they have.

Trump is being a jackass, in general just spouting crap to play to his ignorant base, so the story is slightly different.

Which is what he's hoping for - because at the end of the day, Mueller is still investigating, and Trump's hoping all these distractions will make people forget. Naw.

I think we'll find that Trump's words help the protesters.

  8. Not really. That is the goal of the media, to advance the narrative no matter how loosely related it is to the facts . It suits their overall agenda to paint anyone who may like Trump and may disagree with the protesting as a racist. They are driving this machine ... hard.

ROFLMAO! And it's nice that so many people fall for the ruse of the evil media. It's a major conspiracy and you're all victims.

  9. Nineteen years ago I met a man named Mark and his wife Lee. Mark is a college professor. I believe Lee is also, or at the very least she is educated and holds a professional position. We'd bumped into each other on an internet forum. They were coming to town because they were adopting a newborn, so we decided to meet. They are white. Their son is black.

Today their son is in college. He is a smart, handsome, athletic young man. He's on the football team. They are so proud of him. He sports an Afro hairstyle, which suits him.

In today's America, this young man is still a target for some people because of the color of his skin, his imposing size or even his hairstyle. I am sure his parents worry about that. Hell, I worry about it, because I have photos of him as a sweet baby and know he's been brought up to be a good person. And, in today's America, this fine young man could end up dead just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or because he looks like someone else, or...just because.

That's today's America. That's not saying America is a bad place. It's saying that this is a festering sore that will never heal until we face up to the issues, acknowledge they exist (even if they don't impact YOU) and commit to resolve them. We are so much better together than at each other's throats.

  10. A kicker has the same right to express his opinion as any American. If you don't like it, don't read it. You don't have to agree with it.

I presume those who don't like it also don't like Scott Baio and Ted Nugent using their bully pulpits to express their opinions. Naturally. Because to laud them for speaking out while condemning someone else would make you hypocrites.

  11. The President pledges a million dollars.....would be better if his Wife wore more appropriate shoes though

    https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/31/trump-pledges-one-million-dollars-to-harvey-relief-white-house-says.html

I am not interested in her shoes. But since victims of Hurricane Sandy are still waiting for the $1m Trump pledged for THEM, the Harvey folks might to better to take those shoes, put 'em up on eBay and use the proceeds to buy a small inflatable boat.

  12. There is a third party that calls itself US Coast Guard Documentation. It is NOT affiliated with the Coast Guard. It will charge you $75 for your renewal...or you can go to the USCG site and renew for $26. Your call.

They've been updating their website now to be more clear that they're not the Coasties - after people complained to USCG.

They do not have any special access to accelerate the renewal. You can get it just as fast from the USCG. They're scammers. Also, they offer a three-year renewal ($75x3) but the Coast Guard only allows a year-by-year renewal. And USCG sends an annual reminder. These guys are just scammers.

  13.

    You created where it's heading.

Sorry friend - you created it, not him. He is entitled to feel concern ANYWHERE in this country (and others) as an African-American. It's not for others to tell him where he should and where he shouldn't worry. Unless you are also African-American and have had the same experience, it seems somewhat dismissive. And of course you weren't trying to be dismissive I'm sure.

So let's just all celebrate this as a victory of sorts and agree that this is probably going to be another disappointing year of football for us. :-)

  14. Whatever happened to vocational training in high schools? Somewhere along the line this country decided that career choices were so limited that you either went to college or you were a loser who was going to pump gas the rest of your life...until self-serve came along that is B-) . Or, you could join the military and perhaps learn a trade that would transfer to civilian life.

But there are good-paying trade jobs out there. Welding is my personal favorite. $50+/hour. If you are an underwater welder you can live in cool places and make $125+ per hour. Why discourage people from learning a skill? Understand that wood shop in high school doesn't get you there but if kids are told their only choice to be "successful" is to go to a four-year college, we gonna get what we got. The assembly lines may get rid of the people through automation, but someone still has to build and maintain that equipment.

I started at a liberal arts school and dropped out when I realized I wasn't going to pay the bills by quoting Aristotle. I went to a vocational school for 15 months. THEN when I was working full-time I finished my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Took me longer but in the long-run it was learning the basic skills that got me in the position beyond minimum wage. AND what was ridiculous - I COULD have learned some of those skills in high school in VoPro, except that I was supposed to be college-bound and VoPro, according to the conventional wisdom in those days, was only for kids who were too dumb or otherwise just destined for less prestigious lines of work.

  15. It would be better if he'd get his fat ass off the golf course and his face out of his smartphone and do his job. This isn't an A&E reality show, it's real life.

I realize the notion of "job" is somewhat foreign to him, but he wanted it and he got it. That goes along the line of "be careful what you ask for".
