  1. I saw on twitter a few people said that Murph and Kelso said on the Bills radio broadcast that Wanny was calling defensive plays today. It didn't make much of a difference but it could be a move in the right direction aka dumping Boy George Edwards.

Yes, also they noted that he Bills were playing with more 4 man DL's....a Wannstedt trademark. Supposedly Gailey claimed that he didn't have any more say that he has in the past -- which is scary if true. I have a feeling that this might be a foregone conclusion that Edwards is gone - I still have reservations about Chan.

  2. Too many injuries to the few talented players they have. Fred Jackson, Kyle Williams and Eric Wood and Shawne Merriman are very arguably the only Pro Bowl calibre players on this team. All four wiped out by mid season or so. Can't recover from that plus starting WRs and Tight Ends going down . Plus best corner has been out all year. Just too tough to recover from after both Easley and Parrish don't even start the season. Plus Lindell goes down. Just too much. They weren't that good early in the season and aren't as bad as they look now. They will be good next year. Full camp , full OTAs ,,, full roster hopefully, and away we go. All the teams that had serious injury problems are suffering, other than Houston, who also got whacked today. Need another quality draft like this years.

So I assume your morale is as low as the rest of us?

  3. Flashes of greatness? He had a good game but let's not get carried away. Reggie Bush ran for 200+ on the same field today.

I don't think many people have called him a bust. I do recall a lot of people saying he was a bad draft pick. Two years later on a team with no pass rush, no linebackers, one NFL caliber WR on the roster, a questionable QB, and they spent a #9 overall pick on a backup RB. Even if he develops into a starter at some point, he was not what this team needed at the time. So IMO the 'I told you so' threads every time Spiller plays a halfway decent game are frankly a little silly.

I just think they can get more out of CJ than they have been getting.

  4. I am really surprised. I have been down on this team since they were 5-4 and got blown up against the Jets the first time. I knew that it was over at that point but I didn't realize this team would suck as much as they have. The thing is a lot of people on this message board are great at making excuses....I mean finding positives with each Bills loss. "We're only in year 2 of a rebuilding process," "we're trying to rebuild through the draft," "we've had a lot of injuries" etc.

The thing is that the excuses....I mean positives that fans in here are making have stopped. This tells me that the fan base is extremely frustrated and disappointed in this team as I have been since a few weeks back. I'm seeing a lot more people voice their disapproval of Ralph Wilson as owner of this team. II think it's sad but hey....atleast the excuses have stopped and we are seeing this troubled franchise for what they are...

  5. If he's that good, why does he only get 12 carries a game? . . . Each game just further cements what a waste of a pick it was. Not that he's awful, but he certainly never was, and will never be, worthy of a 9th pick over-all. That is the point Frank, just accept it.

But, to his credit, he did the most with what he was given, and also did well catching the ball.

The question is -- WHY don't they give him more than 12 carries a game? Chan has said it's because they've been down and had to throw to get a lead.

  6. After today's dismal performance, it has to be a foregone conclusion that George Edwards will get the ax this year. I wish that some reporters with guts would have the jingle bells to ask Chan this point blank. I assume it's an unwritten rule among the media, because that question is obvious now.

The Bills franchise is predictable, so I think what we all think will happen -- will happen. Edwards gets the ax and is replaced with Wannstedt. We'll also switch to a 4-3

  7. The worst? There have been many BAD BAD BAD second round picks. Troupe was a pick that was considered a bit of a "reach" by most NFL "experts" as Troupe was a projected 3rd rounder. There were a lot of good players on that board and this team could have definitely used a TE like Gronk. I think the need to draft Troupe came from Edwards' decision to switch to a 3-4. They needed someone they thought NT even if it meant bypassing other needs on the team.

  8. If the Bills wanted to, they could release Fitz before the seventh day of the next league year and only be on the hook for the $10m bonus he got upon signing the new deal plus his 3.22m salary for this year. Doubt that happens, but the Bills could do it if they wished.

They can also draft a franchise QB if they wish and groom him for 3 years as Fitz is only guaranteed 24m over those three seasons and, with the new rookie wage caps in place, they could comfortably carry both on their roster.

    GO BILLS!!!

    B-I-N-G-O

It's doubtful Buffalo pays the entire $61 million contract. It's more likely they dump dump dump him after the 3rd year

  9. There are very few positives I can find in this huge losing streak that the Bills are on. One positive though is the play of CJ Spiller. He has shown some flashes of greatness in the last few week weeks despite only being used for part of the game. I think that Spiller can be an exciting player and needs to be utilized and given chances to succeed. Under Chan's offense, he really isn't given that many opportunities - yet he is making the most of them.

  10. Rumor has it that there are several "outs" in Fitz' contract. There is one out that says if they release him before Week 1, then they are off the hook for the remaining part of his contract. There is also an "out" after year 3, Most think it's unlikely that the Bills release Fitz this year, but it's definitely possible they draft his successor and get rid of him after year 3.

When all of our players where healthy we may have been average or possibly slightly above average. Now our roster has been depleted we are bad

Depleted or not....there is no excuse to lose games in a row. That is pathetic.

  11. Give me one....ONE....reason why we should not fire Chan Gailey. He will most likely lose 9 games in a row to close the season and this shows a glaring ineffectiveness at something he's doing. Recall back to 2008 - We went 4-1 and then finished 5-11 under Jauron. The positive people said "we need continuity with this franchise. We can't Dick Jauron." Well look how the 2009 season started. It was pathetic and we ended up firing Jauron any way.

My point is - if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and sounds like a duck....then it probably is a duck. We need to fire Chan.

Fitz made plays today, and missed plays today. He's stopped playing gutsy and started playing conservatively with his throws. Less interceptions, but he doesn't feel like the Fitz I knew and loved. He is getting more accurate (slowly), though not in the deep throwing game. Brad Smith is finally stepping up, Spiller looks better every game he plays. We're gonna have talent in a year or two. And I'm just as tired of saying that as the rest of you are, FYI.

In a year or two? That sounds seriously pathetic.

  12. I was super pumped up to go to the game today. It was such a great time tail-gaiting with my good friends before the game. When CJ scored that first TD it was just like old time. Unfortunately from that point on, I literally felt sick to my stomach watching this offense defense get dismantled by a very mediocre (if not poor) Miami Dolphins defense. This should have been an easy win and instead we got smoked like usual. I'm used to losing and I have been patient with this administration, but I am sorry, there is NO reason for any team to start out 5-2 and then go 0-9 in the second stretch of the season. Every team has injuries - that's not a valid excuse. I am getting sick and tired of hearing people cover up the 500lb elephant in the room -- there are major problems with this franchise that start up at the top and until this team is sold nothing will change. I don't know about you all but I am SICK of losing. There are very few positives we can take from this game and a $61 million QB that throws 3 INTS.

I am frustrated. I am disgusted. I am ashamed to be a Bills fan. This team does not deserve to win another game this year. So answer me this...what good come from losing 9 games in a row to close the season? It's clear that Chan Gailey is an ineffective coach.

  13. According to a lot of draft experts, The Buffalo Bills were very interested in selecting Tim Tebow in the second round of the NFL draft and were devastated when Denver took him. Of course, Buddy Nix denied those report but I don't buy it at all. My question is, how would Tebow have been here in Buffalo? In my opinion I think John Fox is responsible for a big part of his success. Rather than using Tebow like a prototypical NFL QB he found a way to utilize him best and to focus his offense around a strong running game. I have a feeling Chan Gailey (and many other NFL coaches) would have him drop back and that he would have been largely unsuccessful.

Sure this is all hypothetical but the idea of Tebow sure is fun, especially when our team is 5-8 and out of the playoffs....for the 12th year.

  14. Denver is the anti-Buffalo, in the sense that they have a TOUGH defense and a quarterback who is a competitive playmaker when the game is on the line and a smart coach who knows how to best use that QB's strengths. Our QB throws picks and bad passes when the game is on the line.

This is true, but situations happen like that for all the teams in the NFL.

Look at Denver. They could have or should have lost to Miami, San Diego, NYJ, Minnesota & Chicago. Yet one or two plays were all it took and Denver is sitting where they are now.

  15. Say no to Tebow. 58 Minutes of extreme boredom followed by 2 minutes of excitement is not how I want to spend my hard earned sports dollar.

LOL so 60 minutes of watching a bad team get worse if how you want to spend your "hard earned sports dollar" as a Bills fan? We should be so lucky to have Tebow AND a coach who knows how to use him.

  16. Great post Pollyanna...people have been saying these optimistic things on forums since the great Wade Phillips stepped down as HC. There's major problems with Buffalo...we all know it's no playoffs till we have a new owner.

    depressed?

saw some great things from our first stringers this year when we were healthy.

were 5-2, atop the conference, beat the pats and rolling.

    lost our prime talent.

    can't wait til next year.

people are mad that the bills have had a bad decade, say we need to rebuild. we have starter quality talent this far into the rebuilding process, but now people are mad we don't have the depth.

next year, with more depth, people are going to be mad that we can only go 10-6 and get a wild card.

in 2 years, when were 13-3 and division champs, people are going to be mad that we didn't make the super bowl.

in 3 years, people are going to be upset that the prognosticators aren't picking us to go back to back as champions.

im just enjoying the ride, GO BILLS!

  17. Sadly, Spagnuolo is missing the one perquisite to be a Bills coach in the post Donahoe Era....Desperation. Both Dick Jauron and Chan Gailey were out of the NFL at the time of their hiring and were very desperate to get back into the NFL. Spagnuolo is regarded as a very good defensive coach and if he's going to go back to being a DC, I'm pretty sure he'll pick a good situation and not walk into the mess that is the Buffalo Bills defense. He doesn't need to be the Bills defensive coach, the way that Jauron and Chan needed back in the NFL. I'm sure all he has to do is watch one game (besides Washington) and think "Oh hell no." Now if you are talking Spagnuolo for head coach, then I think that's a better possibility.

  18. Two home games in December really won't do very much. Sadly the only way to really send a message to Ralph would be to boycott every home game. Trust me, the finance people would take notice though I doubt they'd change anything. They would probably offset the revenue lost from gate attendance by spending less on player and coach salaries.

Translation: we're screwed until Ralph finally sells this team.

  19. Wait, so you planned to drive to Buffalo from VA for every Bills home game when you bough season tickets?

I'm a season ticket holder and I'm not going. My Christmas did come early though, because I sold my tickets on Ticketexchange after the Dallas game. The Miami tickets sold the same day. I was shocked. The Tennessee tickets sold the next day. I was again pretty shocked. But where I almost shat myself came about a week ago when my Denver, Christmas Eve tickets sold for face value on the ticket (meaning I made a profit). I have great seats, but it was a Christmas miracle indeed.

I live in VA, and I'm so sick and tired of meaningless games. I just can't justify the travel anymore for drek. However, with tickets readily available, I simply cannot believe all three of my final games sold at face value or higher. Gotta love it.

  20. Kelly was super-high on Tebow when he came out of Florida.

Also I don't know if I buy the whole "injuries" excuse. Fred Jackson and Wood definitely hurt the offense but it seemed like the defense would be just as bad with Kyle Williams in there. By the way, everyone knew this team had no depth. Isn't in the front office's job to find players that can serve as depth? Another fail over at OBD

he was coming on just as my lunch break ended.

any talk of ralph's succession plan?

  21. The problem is that Roscoe is so small that he always is hurt. If (and this is a big if) he can stay healthy I really see him being a solid role-player in this offense who can make some plays. Remember some of those clutch catches he made last year for first downs. Chances are that no NFL teams are going to throw money at him, so why not resign him?
