  1. If he gives you anything at all it will be as a situational pass rusher. He just can't hold up for an entire game anymore.

The liability is that Merriman will not be great in a 4-3. Look at a guy like Joey Porter. He sucked with Wannstedt's 4-3 but was a hero when they switched back to a 3-4. If you put Merriman in a situation pass rusher, teams know he's gonna blitz. If they leave him in coverage, they're gonna get smoked as Shawne can't cover worth shite. Honestly he doesn't fit in

  2. Really, sunshine

The thing is he COULD have left earlier tonight on a private jet and met with any team tomorrow, but he decided to stay overnight in Buffalo and he's meeting with the folks at OBD again in the AM. This is obviously not the best sign, but really, it isn't the worst sign either. Like Paul Peck said, as long as he's in Buffalo, it's a good sign

  3. It doesn't look good for Buffalo if Williams leaves for other interviews. It's clear that he did what many people on message boards said he was doing - using Buffalo as leverage to get the most money possible. In my opinion you can pretty much kiss his butt goodbye. And if he does sign a monster deal elsewhere let's hope his injury problems continue -- good riddance.

You CANNOT blame Buddy or anyone else in this organization though. They've attempted to do what this team NEVER has tried to do -- go out and get the best player available to help this team.

  4. Check this article out. It's from Bob Matthews in Rochester who advocates that Buffalo should trade a slew of picks to St. Louis.

Read this pathetic list of Bills draft picks then you will understand why: Williams and Dareus look pretty promising in comparison.

Can you find any top-two picks in consecutive seasons that add up to the long-term value of a franchise QB?

WARNING: This list is not fun to read:

2000 — DE Erik Flowers (26) and FS Tavares Tillman (58)

2001 — CB Nate Clements (21) and DE Aaron Schobel (46)

2002 — OT Mike Williams (4) and WR Josh Reed (36)

2003 — RB Willis McGahee (23) and DE Chris Kelsay (48)

2004 — WR Lee Evans (13) and QB JP Losman (22)

2006 — S Donte Whitner and DT John McCargo (26)

2007 — RB Marshawn Lynch and LB Paul Posluszny (34)

2008 — CB Leodis McKelvin (11) and WR James Hardy (41)

    2009 — DE Aaron Maybin (11) and C Eric Wood (28)

    2010 — RB C.J. Spiller (9) and DT Torell Troup (41)

2011 — DT Marcell Dareus (3) and CB Aaron Williams (34).

  5. An undersized target that goes deep exclusively and will be securely limited over the middle due to multiple major concussions? Yes, let's go big after a small target for our qbs oft erratic arm, who specializes in routes that are his least consistent throws.

Not to mention the issues with quitting on his team and such.

Or the tds he's actually caught then dropped before the endzone celebrating. That's worse than sj13s misses in my book

And again, the concussions that could end his career any given Sunday.

A sticky mentioning it somewhere? I don't know- it's just getting old. There must be some solution.

Right....this team needs a target that can stretch the field and go deep. Why do you think our offense was so stagnant last year? Teams realized we had no WR that could go deep. Our QB's erratic throws....well that's another issue.

  6. Kelsay will have his hand down and will be our starting LDE....RDE is the only question mark

I don't know....Having Kelsay as a starter is not necessarily the best thing. He's shown that he is a very marginal player and unfortunately part of the reason we haven't made the playoffs for the past 12 years is because our roster has been filled with MANY marginals players. I am really hoping this team can find someone better to start in front of Kelsay, or at least someone to push him to produce.

  7. Edwards is gone. Scott probably won't be back unless it's cheap. Johnson is either a late camp cut or depth. Kelsay is starting LDE and Merriman is situational pass-rushing DE.

SOrry but I am just not sold on Merriman. How many sacks has he had in his career with his hand on the ground. They guy is not a DE and I have little faith that he can play an entire season, much less generate a pass rush.

  8. I rented the documentary "Tim Tebow: Everything In Between." which follows Tebow after his senior year in preparation for the 2010 NFL Draft. If you recall there were a handful of teams very interested in drafting Tebow - one rumored to being Buffalo. After Tebow was selected by Denver, Mel Kiper stated that he thought the Bills were devastated that he was off the board and that Tebow was probably going to be their pick. Of course, at the end of Day One when Buddy was questioned by reporters he claimed that the team was NOT interested in Tebow, nor any other quarterback in that year's draft class.

However, watching the documentary you can see it's not the case. At one point in the film at Tebow's pro day, you can prominently see Buddy Nix is almost every shot. Yes there were a lot of scouts there but Buddy (not so coincidently) is standing right up in the front. Later when Tebow's agent show's the first round draft board, he has starts by a number of teams but lists Denver, Buffalo, and Jacksonville as very interested teams. FInally as he's discussing potential first round landing spots he says that Buffalo has been going back and forth with him all week about drafting Tebow in the first two rounds. One day they wanted to, and the next week they didn't.

So not a knock on the Bills or Buddy, but after watching this I think this lends more to the credibility to the reports that the Bills were very interested in drafting Tim Tebow. It definitely would have been fun to see that one play out!

  9. Hmm, interesting thought. None of these guys are sure things, but there are a couple of things

that concern me with Brockers and the Bills. He his clearly a very impressive athlete. I think he'll

show very well at the Combine. However, he doesn't have a lot of playing time behind him and

, probably more important to me, he doesn't really resolve the need for DEs and OLBs.

If they took Brockers, he could play DE when they go to a 3-4 look. But, what would you do with

him when they are in the 4-3? Maybe he could play the run-stuffing LDE position - I don't know.

If he has to play DT in the 4-3 (ie isn't good at DE), then who does he displace? Dareus? Kyle WIlliams?

I don't think taking either of those guys off the field is a step in the right direction.

Now, if it's Brockers or a guy at DE, OLB or OT that the Bills rate significantly lower then I think

you still have to consider Brockers. I just wonder what kind of defense they'd be building...

Where does Chris Kelsay fit into this 4-3 scheme? Is he going to be a high priced back up DE?

  10. I haven't looked at the $ saved, but (excluding Kelsay) I'd be surprised if the total $ saved was enough to sign a mid-tier FA this year. These guys are

solid vets who don't cost a ton. I am not sure cutting them to replace them with late round draft picks is the best idea.

Out of this group....Scott is the only one that I would consider to be a "solid" player. I'd call the others "The Expendables" because really they are. We would be able to get more production out of UFA's that from some of these guys.

  11. I agree. If anything, ray has been what appears to be, a model citizen. he has done so much for underprivleged famalies in baltimore, and I hear he even wants to be a cop when he retires! Well, it would be the closest thing we got to a Robocop for Ray Lewis to be doing police work.

More importantly...what if Patrick WIllis was a Buffalo Bill? He was super high on our draft board but was selected ONE pick before we took Marshawn Lynch. With Willis gone, we resorted to our plan B and took another guy Marv was in love with....Poz. It didn't work so well. We seriously could have built a defense around Willis...Poz, not so much.

  12. Let's not forget about Donald Jones!!!!! BOOM!!!!!

I think that Easley is a huge questions mark. A heart condition in professional sports is nothing to play around with. I think the fact that he missed an entire season shows the severity of his situation. Really, I think we should plan to move ahead without him
