No, new RB contracts are not setting the market. Obviously that’s the exception to the general rule, but it is what’s happening. RB salaries - especially those at the top of the market - have fallen. For example, the franchise tag peak for RBs was in 2017 at $12.120M. It was $8.655M in 2021 and is $10.091M this season.

Franchise tag history for all positions.

Runningbacks are becoming ever more worthless.

    Why is Hines getting $6mil/yr?

i don't know if this was mentioned in the articles, but people are pushing this a bit further as some theaters have been having trouble during the showing such as lights being left on and the a/c not working.  people are really reading into this.

I heard a conspiracy theory that Far-Right Christian Extremists spent $100 million buying up tickets to this movie. That's why they don't need A/C or dimmed lights because no one is actually sitting in the theater.

Also, Isn't it suspicious that there are two threads on this movie!? Which one is the real one?

Dude, these players aren't flying on the same airline you are!

They are flying on custom layout privately booked airliners where EVERY SEAT ON THE PLANE is first class, with reclining capability and HUGE amounts of space all around and TONS of luxury amenities/materials not found on a commercial plane.

    Come on man.

I'm reading the article cited in this thread. Some teams travel better than others. The player mentioned that some seats turn into beds, while most just recline a few inches.

Yes, they are probably still better than the seats we riff-raff are forced to endure.

Meals and first class upgrades are trivial compared to salaries and state taxes. You need to eat a lot of food to compensate for the differernce in taxes between Florida and NY for example.  No player is making his FA decision on who pays for his meals.  Separately, I am not sure how many planes have room to put an entire active roster in first class.

    Human nature still applies.

Culture also means how a player is treated.

If an owner treats the players like VIP's rather than employees, It can sway Free Agents to sign and those under contract to give home-team discounts.

  4. If a team provides a perk for all players, then it's not counted against the salary cap.

I'm surprised this hasn't been exploited by the richer team owners. I wonder if there is a handshake agreement among the clubs to not embarrass the cheaper owners.

Paying for first class seats, especially for the big fellas, on road trips, should be an obvious perk, but that article says they still make players sit in economy.

  5. How do team perks affect the salary Cap?

I tried to look it up and couldn't find anything.

    For example:

If a team provides free food, trainers, gyms, limo service, private jets, massage therapists, babysitters....

Will the costs count against the team's salary cap?

If it doesn't, Why don't teams provide these perks to help players perform better? or attract Free Agents?

I remember Dez Bryant getting assigned a chaperone by Dallas, was that charged to his salary?

I believe they should have Washington and Hogs in their name since its the moniker for their offensive line. Its the name to me that makes the most sense. Washington RedHogs would be my choice but to each their own.

That's offensive to sunburned fat people.

Some think it was dumb, but I actually really liked Washington Football Team.

Reddit told me that Washington was a slave owner.

  7. OJ Simpson, Earl Campbell, Jim Brown, Marshal Faulk, and Bo Jackson were selfish.

Marshawn Lynch proved that he would have probably ended his career in jail or suspended if he had stayed in Buffalo.

The only process guy I can see that would fit this team with Josh Allen is Barry Sanders.

Thurman and Freddie works too, but Barry was better than both.

Anyone who chooses anyone other than OJ did not watch football in the 70s.  OJ was preternatural.

But I picked Earl, not because he was better than OJ, but because I'd love to see this dilemma presented to our opponents.  How do you stop a team with a premier passing attack and a premier power running game?

    play them in a blizzard.

    So everyone goes nuts too?

In what world does 3 second round picks get you the Number 6 overall pick?

2nd round pick worth 510points x 3 is 1530 points. The 6 overall is 1600, which is pretty close.

Also, the chart is more like a guideline, and not a rule. It hasn't been strictly followed for at least a decade.

Costner actually screwed his team with all the moves.

He traded three 2nd rounders for a RB and punt returner.

I’m sorry, but how hard is it to get a trade chart value correct?   The trades were so stupid and unrealistic.  It ruined the whole movie for me.

The point of the movie was that Costner was ignoring the trade value chart and "going rogue".

  10. I start watching at halftime, then fast forward through the commercials. Will usually catch up to the live broadcast deep into the 4th quarter. If you're not excited to watch the Bills in the 4th quarter, you're not a fan, but just a spectator.

No changes will help, you'll just find something else to complain about. You just want an excuse to tell your friends why you stopped watching football. I have a friend like this.... he only watches because of the parties and uses your excuse frequently. We usually have to keep him up to date on news. (like Damar), otherwise he is clueless.
