Jack Eichel Has Big Plans for the Resurgent Sabres
By ALEX PREWITT - December 27, 2018Setting down his turkey burger, Jack Eichel gazes through the windows of a downtown Buffalo restaurant and once again imagines the future. He sees a surrounding riverside area choked with game-day traffic, blue-and-white Sabres jerseys shuffling toward KeyBank Center beneath an early-summer sky. He pictures live music blaring and cameras panning overhead, broadcasting crowd shots to a national audience. He hears chants—LET'S! GO! BUFF-A-LO!—and smells beer. After all, Eichel notes, "Buffalonians don't mind the tailgate."He visualizes because that is how he has always pursued goals. Growing up in North Chelmsford, Mass., Eichel would tack articles about local athletes receiving college scholarships to the walls of his family's basement, extra motivation while cranking out deadlifts before middle school. Even when the 2015 draft was years away, the background image of his iPod Touch was a picture mosaic of highly regarded prospects, including the only one who would actually get picked ahead of him, Edmonton's Connor McDavid. He also programmed the device to deliver a daily reminder along with his morning alarm: HOW BAD DO YOU WANT TO MAKE THE NHL?Now that Eichel is there—not to mention captaining the insurgent Sabres at age 22, burnishing his Hart Trophy credentials with 48 points in 37 games, averaging 20:16 per night of all-situation hockey, and generally realizing his potential as the savior for one of pro sports' most woebegone cities—he is singularly focused on an even loftier goal. "Constantly thinking about what it'd be like," he says, nodding toward the nearby waterfront. "First of all, to be in the playoffs. Then to get a good run going would be awesome."-

How Zay Jones' Rebuilt Confidence Let His Game Emerge
If one was to compare Zay Jones, the rookie, to Zay Jones, the second-year wideout, there is one glaring difference.Confidence.One of Jones’ teammates, who witnessed the receiver’s rookie year first-hand, then spent the first half of 2018 in Dallas, before re-joining the Bills last month, sees a Zay Jones who carries himself with a purpose.“What jumped out at me the most when I got back was the look in his eye, the pep in his step, the confidence,” said fellow receiver Deonte Thompson. “From the time I walked back in the building a few weeks ago his confidence has made him a totally different dude. His confidence is at another level right now.”The first Bills receiver with 50 receptions or more since 2016 and the team leader in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Jones established himself as a steady and reliable option in Buffalo’s passing game despite a lot of change at the quarterback position.“He gets better every day. He works his tail off,” said Josh Allen. “He comes into practice, he never takes a rep off, and it’s showing in games because he’s finding ways to get it done, creating more separation, it seems like, every game. When he’s got that type of attitude and work ethic, the chemistry just kind of becomes natural the more you throw to him.” -
Sean Payton wouldn't divulge the New Orleans Saints plans for Sunday's meaningless season finale versus the Carolina Panthers, but Drew Brees provided a hint.At the very least, Brees said he expects backup Teddy Bridgewater to play significant snaps Sunday. How much appears yet to be determined."I'm excited for him," Brees said, via the team's official website. "I think there's no doubt he's going to get some playing time. It's just a matter of how much. He's the kind of guy who prepares to play every week. I'm sure he's excited to play, but we're all excited for him and some other young guys that are probably going to get some significant playing time."

The Miami Dolphins have been eliminated from the playoffs, but the season is not over. The Dolphins must travel to Buffalo for the team’s season finale against its division rival, and despite the irrelevance of this contest in terms of postseason contention, both coaches and players still have plenty to compete for, most notably their jobs. In order to win this matchup, the Dolphins will need to stop Buffalo’s offense from creating big plays and putting quick points on the board. The Dolphins defense has struggled with preventing splash plays all season. To do so this week Miami will need to stymie Buffalo’s biggest home run threat.Each week of the 2018 season, I’ve highlighted one player on the opposing team that Dolphins fans should be watching out for. For this final week, that player is Buffalo Bills wide receiver Robert Foster. -

I agree, and I feel pretty confident that Beane and McD see it this way also. I expect mid-tier free agents, re-signing their own, and continuing to build through the draft. They need difference-makers on offense though, to take advantage of Allen's potential.
They would be wise to pony up to fortify the OL as most coming out of CFB typically take some time to adjust before making an impact at the NFL level.

It wasn’t a shocking development when Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert announced that he was returning to Oregon for his senior season; there were multiple rumors swirling around that the first round talent was leaning towards just that decision. But now that it’s now official, even though it wasn’t shocking, it’s still kind of shocking.
From here, what direction can Justin Herbert’s draft stock go? It could go up and be solidified as the first overall pick for the 2020 NFL Draft, but let’s be real, it’s probably going to stay the same or go down. Justin Herbert has spent two consecutive seasons dealing with injuries. In 2017, he had a broken collarbone on his non-throwing shoulder and was shut down for the season. That injury was far more concerning than the bruised shoulder he suffered against Oregon State in November of this season.
Needless to say, Herbert staying another season doesn’t make sense from a financial perspective, so maybe it’s a pride thing? Maybe he wants to try and win the Pac-12 and put the Ducks in position for a National Championship? Whatever the reason, it’s not smart from a business perspective because I don’t see his draft stock making any improvements. If anything, it’s going to be going in the opposite direction.

Justin Herbert Passes on 2019 NFL Draft, and Here's How He Can Improve His Stock Before 2020
Justin Herbert was likely going to be the first quarterback selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he was far from a finished product, drifted into "overrated" territory as a prospect, and made the correct decision to return for his senior season at Oregon. That weakens the options for QB-needy teams, but here are the guys worth knowing who could be first-round picks in April.Asking how Herbert can improve his draft stock -- and, more importantly, his chances of long-term success at the NFL level -- is a logical question to pose at this juncture. Despite the hype surrounding him, Herbert is still raw in two paramount areas of playing the quarterback position.If he sharpens his skills in these two areas, Herbert's choice to stay in school for another season will be viewed in a similar vein to that of Andrew Luck, who returned to Stanford in 2011 after a dazzling redshirt sophomore year and despite massive draft buzz, then went No. 1 overall in 2012, instead of other quarterbacks who flopped in their highly anticipated final collegiate campaigns and ultimately sank in the draft. -

I’m sure most concur and it puts the League in a difficult spot. The job is basically vocal, like radio. So how you appear is based solely on your speech. They can’t fire her without major backlash, just ‘because’. Should have done more research.
I stream all the games now, so I’ll see if the SiriusXM delay broadcast times well with the stream delay. If not, I’ll kill the volume and do play by play myself. (I have a colorful vocabulary..)
It'll be SAP or mute for me as her voice is like hearing the sound of chalk on a board.
