ORCHARD PARK – The 2018 season is just days from its conclusion and the Bills are out of the playoff chase for the 18th time in 19 years, but this unfortunate circumstance does not change a thing for Jason Croom.

It doesn’t matter that there’s nothing on the line in Sunday’s meeting with Miami. Like all young players trying to carve their niche, Croom understands there are only 16 games in a season, and this is one more opportunity for him to show what he can do as he tries to secure a roster spot for 2019.

That’s why, for the second-year tight end, the end of practice is never truly the end of practice because there’s always something to work on, especially for a former undrafted free agent who has so much to prove.

So, when Sean McDermott blew his whistle to end the formal day of work Wednesday, Croom sought out tight ends coach Rob Boras, as he does every day, to work on his pass blocking sets. And after a few minutes, he trotted over to the JUGS machine and caught about 25-30 balls. After a quick trip through the locker room, it was off to the weight room to lift.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, Corner...mater of fact you are probably spot on.

..and, as mentioned, Robert Woods is better.

I am just still not unhappy with Zay's progress as what I believe to be a true number 2, which is likely what he was drafted to do.

Woods had annoying drops, too.  No where close to the umber that Zay had..but I know that you know that he had them.

IMO he doesn't create enough separation and his hands are too inconsistent to be a #2 WR.

  3. Top 7 Storylines for the Bills-Dolphins Season Finale

The end of the line. The Bills season finishes with a game against Miami for the second year in a row. But this time, the game is in Orchard Park. And this time, there’s very little at stake for either team.

Here are the top storylines this week, as the Bills finish off 2018 with a game against the Dolphins:

    1. WHAT DO THEY PLAY FOR?

    2. DOLPHINS COME IN WITH ISSUES

    3. QB QUESTIONS ALSO WITH MIAMI

    4. JOSH ALLEN LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK

    5. REVENGE MATCH?

    6. LAST DANCE FOR SOME VETERANS?

    7. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE?

Zay needs one more reception for 14 yards to be at Robert Woods' career average in Buffalo.

Woods is 50.75 receptions, for 612 or so yards, and 3 tds per year.

Zay is currently at 50, for 599 and 5 TDs.

Of course Woods is better.  However, Zay was always penned in as a number 2, and these numbers in his second year are fine.

He still has to grow some, but having this kid be behind our eventual number 1 and getting 56-64 grabs for 6-7 tds may be enough for a buffalo number 2.

Too much GTP in those numbers for Zay and as always they tell an "incomplete" story with many of the important details "dropped".

His completion percentage will go up when we have guys who can get open and he doesn’t have to throw the ball away. The fact that he can routinely scramble for 4-5 seconds and still have nobody open is a glaring indictment of the receivers. I’ve seen plenty of QBs I would call inaccurate, Josh is not one of them. Sucks that the narrative continues based solely on stats.

If I had to rank the root causes of his incompletions it would go something like this:

    1. Pass intentionally thrown away

    2. Receiver failed to make a play

    3. Pass defended

    4. Pass misfired

    5. Miscommunication

The adjusted stats quoted in the article already account for these.

I hope the title is descriptive enough. First off, I'm not a moron when it comes to football but there is a lot about the game that I do not understand. Are there any websites I can go to that break down the game a little bit more for amateurs such as myself? Different coverages, schemes and assignments. I crave a deeper understanding of the game. Please help.

YouTube is a great source with countless videos for X and O explanation on any subject you might be interested in.
