  1. In a disappointing story, I was telling my family that at least one person would give me either a, "Go Bills," or a "Josh Allen!" While wearing a Bills shirt all day hiking in Big Bear, CA......Alas....

    No, not one....

On the plus side the reason I said that is because I usually get a couple replies here in Rancho Cucamonga when I wear it. I think the Bills and Josh Allen really are America's team. Everyone loves us as we are the perennial underdog and because Josh Allen is a good guy that is extremely fun to watch.

  2. Just wanted to say that Mahomes is on a clearly better team than Herbert. KC is loaded (again).

I sure hope the Bills at least play to win this year. It looks like we're just trying to keep the score close the last two times. I don't think our coaches Billieve they can beat the chefs. One thing really going for us is our offense can play way better than they have the last few matchups.... If our entire offense is healthy, maybe they can inspire our defense to think we can beat them. If healthy, I don't think there is a defense in the league that can keep us under 30.... The fact is, we really needed John Brown to show what this offense can really do and now that we have a healthy Sanders, we should be extremely explosive. If we get Zach Ertz, unstoppable. If we get better play from that LG spot plus spend some time working on the run game which I think we do both, we will be extremely balanced and more able to divvy up the punishment between our skill players and keep everyone strong and healthy. If our offense gets that good our coaches have to scheme an aggressive defense designed to Get our defense playing to win. No more prevent in the first quarter.

Jay Skurski indicate Cole could be a potential cut given our depth of slot receivers and his vaccine stance / his injury issues. To me, the guy is a warrior who played through a broken leg, so being injured but still suiting up and playing well is the whole best ability is availability thing.

    https://heavy.com/sports/buffalo-bills/cole-beasley-could-be-surprise-cut/

USAToday ranked the top slot recievers and A Buffalo Bill placed 7th, but it was Mckenzie not Cole that go the nod from Doug Farrar. I actually found it odd that jarvis Landry was not on this list more than Cole not being on the list, but ...

I Like Isaiah a lot, but when it is crunch time, Josh looks for one of three people to make a play, Stefon, Cole, and himself with his legs).

I do not see us letting either Cole or Isaiah go this year. Next year, well maybe next year.

I don't either. He really is one of the best slot WRs in the league.

However, Sanders is going to be added to your list very fast. Davis maybe too. I think Singletary becomes more consistent as well. He should be watching Thurman Thomas play and copying a lot of what he did. Daboll should set Singletary up better this year as well....

  4. I think there is an extremely unique experience you really can't replicate anywhere else. In theNiagara gorge they run these giant speed boats over huge water crests.... and the water there is the most water movedper/second/area in the world. You can't hit a rock because the water is 35 feet deep yet there are these monster swells because so much water is forced through this gorge below the falls... I would only warn that everyone who might go be healthy and have a good back.

PS - Do the maid of the mist too. It's a slow boat that carries a lot of people very close to the falls. I strongly recommend both and they are very different from each other. You could propose at NFs, it's classic.... or the Stadium whatever you wish.

Bills Stealers games are special as there will not be an empty seat in the house and Pittsburgh shows up in force. It's pretty cool.

    Congratulations!

His development was a big reason the decision was made to not retain John Brown. The kid has a promising future.

Maybe a bit, but he wasn't brought back because he let us down all year. Football is an unforgiving sport. Emmanuel Sanders was brought in to replace John Brown and if he stays healthy, he is a starter as much as any WR. They will probably dive up the snaps pretty close if no one gets hurt. Diggs with the most and Davis with the least, but it will be pretty close with all four. Diggs - Sanders - Beasley - Davis, just like thatwhen all four are healthy, imho.

Ertz will provide a dimension that will make Josh think he can beat anybody, anytime.

But Sanders is a huge add too, no doubt about it. One more guy we can count on to beat top coverage.

I recently read an article on how Larry Bird, during the National Anthem, would look at Bobby Orr’s banner and think how great Orr was and what Orr meant to Boston.  Which got me thinking of Boston’s Mount Rushmore of the Four Major Sports – Baseball, Basketball, Football and Hockey.

So it could be argued that the following are Boston’s Mount Rushmore:

    Baseball – Ted Williams

    Basketball – Bill Russell

    Football – Tom Brady

    Hockey – Bobby Orr

But who would be Buffalo’s representatives?

    Baseball – Connie Mack?

Basketball – Bob Lanier? / Christian Laettner?

    Football – Jim Kelly?

    Hockey – Dominic Hasek?

    Thoughts?

    Ouch....

Regular season Allen > regular season Kelly

    Playoff Kelly >>> playoff Allen

I don't know what happens when Allen gets into a playoff game.  Maybe the game plans get tighter, or maybe he just feels the pressure more.  The Bills won two playoff games last year but didn't look great doing it.  The playoff losses to Houston and KC were just bad games for Allen.

There's no real reason why Allen can't dominate in the playoffs.  Maybe he has a little monkey on his back about this, and once he goes out a lights someone up in a playoff game, this will all be viewed as part of his learning curve.

It's pretty obvious what happened, all his WRs were injured. They gave it a go, but they couldn't perform well enough.

John Brown was a very important weapon for us and was injured most of the year including the playoffs, Beasley couldn't win with a broken leg. Diggs had a torn meniscus. Davis was badly beat up and just a rookie.

McKenzie has to be schemed off JB, SD and Beasley to be effective.

Allen was fine but his weapons not so at all.

Every QB that ever lived would have had the same problem.

Iftherewas a question, it was why did our O go to such a standard offense

There were no trick plays after we used them all year. I didn't get it.

Soon, I'm going to rewatch the KC game to study it. So hard to watch for me....

Josh wins at least one super bowl.  He’s the goat

Josh is the goat, but every QB that was ever great and won SBs had great teams to play with. Every single one.

You need the QB almost every time, but you need the very good every time.

McBeane has got to step it up. I think we get better this year running the ball and get better play from our D, but.....

will the betterment be enough? The chefs have three difference makers on D to go along with very solid play. Right now, we have only one. That's bad.

Maybe Tremaine breaks out this year, maybe Epenesa or Oliver really step up their games. Maybe the rooks will shock us.

We really need to step it up. We usually have the solid/sound play but we need more big plays, more impact plays, more pizzaz. We need our defenders beating one on one blocking more than they do (almost never).

On offense, I do think Ertz makes us a lot better and gives us one more dangerous weapon. Last season, we were decimated at dangerous offensive weapons, the more you have, the better the odds. The more you have, the less everyone has to carry. I guess other players could break out, but I don't think so. Diggs is the real thing. Beasley really is a great slot WR. Davis compliments Beasley well. Saunders is the real deal in the regular season and the playoffs. These are the guys we need healthy in the playoffs. Ertz gives us a better chance they all (including Ertz) make it to the playoffs healthy.

So get Ertz for Allen, our best shot at winning a SB.

We gotta hope all our many defensive coaches can coach this defense up.  Maybe Taron turns it up and becomes a household name. We need someone on defense to. Even White could play better, imho. He guessed wrong too many times last season.

Maybe McDermott or Frazier or our D-Line coach really connects with our D-Line and gets all of them playing at a very high level banded together for that SB ring.

We need to get better to win it all.

But we have Allen, so f*** the fish.

Beane is going to have to do a better job, imho, in addition to having Josh Allen though, imho.... It's really weird that we don't have a better defense, maybe this 2021 draft bails them out? Damn! Fish got a ridiculous amount of picks though....LOL!

    High picks too!

Question. What do the Bills have moving forward aside from Allen?

Diggs will get old. We have White and Dion Dawkins.

Maybe Edmunds? But if sign Edmunds Oliver probably walks... We lose Jerry, Addison and a lot of other dough off their roster next year but signing just Allen more than cancels that money savings out....

I wouldn't bet against Allen, but from here it looks like these Bills are never going to really build a Super Bowl type roster.

If we get Ertz and are very lucky I think we have a shot this year but is this year going to be our best roster? I sure hope not.

How do we keep Allen protected and give him the weapons he needs to succeed plus improve the D after Allen signs his contract?

We'd have to draft more like 2017 and less like 2019 for one.

We have to hit better at FA too. We need more Hydes, Poyers and Daryl Williams.

Obviously 2020 was a historic offensive season for the Bills. As Allen continues to develop and surrounded by as many, if not more options than last year, it’s more likely he spreads the ball around.

I believe they’ve talked about involving the running backs more in the pass game.

If they get Ertz that’s another option in the pass game.

Add in a guy like Hodgins making the team if they decide to keep an extra receiver?

Plus swapping an injured Brown out for Sanders?

Allen will basically have the following targets to choose from (2020 reception #’s in parenthesis)

    Diggs (127)

    Beasley (82)

    Sanders (61 w/ New Orleans)

    Singletary (38)

    Davis (35)

    Brown (33) OUT

    McKenzie (30)

    Knox (24)

    Moss (14)

    Kroft (12)

    Smith (4)

    Roberts (4)

    Gilliam (2)

    Kumerow/Yeldon/Neal/Allen (1 each)

So... who sees a drop in their numbers from 2020?

It's going to be both Diggs and Beasley with the purpose of attempting to get both healthy going into the postseason.

What I'm hoping for is that Ertz takes a lot of passes.

That all other receivers get more catches except for perhaps Sanders who is probably right around where we want him.

Lastly, I'm hoping and thinking that the Bills are going to run more this year giving more touches to our backs: Singletary, Moss and Antonio Williams. We will run more-overall but also run more to ice games and we will be successful at it.

  11. I'd be shocked if Beane were to get anything for Hughes or Addison. I'd be further shocked if Hughes or Addison went and didn't just retire if this happened.  Hughes bleeds Buffalo Blue and wants that Super Bowl. Addison also wants a Super Bowl Having been close the one time.

It sez here Beane is stuck with these guys.

Having said that, I also thought it was impossible to trade Lee Smith and his contract so whotf knows?

And with regards to Mr. Hughes, he may still be our best, IDK, I havta see the new kids, but his play slipped last year in the playoffs.....He just lost that dangerous burst he has been saving for big games, imho....

  12. Get the pro bowler now! We need more weapons! The more the weapons, the better the weapons, the better Josh Allen is. That's a no-brainer!

Super Bowl!!! (Yes, I think Ertz gives us a better chance to win it all.. I thought it was made crystal clear last playoffs.)

At least we will have an offense that can compete with the chefs. Maybe Groot and the defense surprises at the other facet? Let's remember there is a reason Groot went first.

    Go Groot!

    Go Ertz (to Buffalo!)

    Go Bills!

IDK? I'm pretty surprised by this. It goes against what my eyes are telling me.....I mean, I really watch.

Im also a Tremaine fan, but I hope he gets better.... a lot better.... I have seen Tremaine wait for the RB to cross the LOS before engaging. Like he was coached to do that. He makes so many tackles downfield it's crazy.

I call shenanigans on this stat.

Gilmore, Kiko, McKelvin, pre-injury Aaron WIlliams, Jairus Byrd, Nigel Bradham, Manny Lawson, even Leodis ... did I miss someone? I submit that the 2013 defense was pretty loaded dehind the Dline too.

I think if we had Pettine and that defense (even though I was never a Super Fan because he always played below his talent level overall - low effort) we would win a Super Bowl. Furthermore, I think the defense would look far better with our offense taking big leads. The sack number would be ridiculous.

I like this current Bills team as much as I liked any Bills team, but I'm not going to say it is something t isn't. We have a good defense....end of story. We drafted well in 2017 and drafted Josh Allen. Not so good aside from that.... average at best.

  15. Not the topic but.... Honestly, I'd take Pettiness over Frazier. Pettiness attacks, Frazier is defensively defensive. Good when you're playing Baltimore, not do much vs. everybody else. Half the time, you don't know what Frazier is asking his defense to do, so it is hard to criticize the players. I know I've seen Tremaine "waiting" for the runner to hit the LOS before engaging. This is heat he is told to do and as fans it is hard to see and fathom. Frazier keeps the ball in front of his defense where Pettine goes and gets the ball. Frazier becomes far more aggressive in some playoff games but some not do much.

Everybody is waiting for Ed to take off but the fact remains, Kyle did not shoot the gap In Frazier's defense and unless it's a playoff game, I doubt Ed does either. I think Frazier values negative plays less than most. I think he thinks he can stop scoring plays and that is really all that counts (but his success is very debatable). Does he have only average players or does his defense make all defenders average? I'm not sure of this but I know Frazier is not an aggressive DC by any means.

    Devin Singletary

    Zach Moss

    Ed Oliver

I hate declaring draft winners/losers the day after because some players take years to develop. If half of these guys progress significantly this season, we will have a great young core to build around for years to come.

Trouble is, we need these higher draft picks to realize their draft position. Tremaine, Ed, And AJ on defense and Ford (or Lamp or both) on offense.

Man, if those three had a great year on defense this year we could challenge KC for the AFC crown.

If we turn LG into a strength, our run game would cruise along. (We also need our TEs to win blocks more).

And the truth is that Tremaine and Ed are good players (we don't know about AJ yet) but aren't very special so far. Yes, we need them to be special to challenge KC. We can't expect our rookies to be all that.... Hopefully, they are helping by November.

Thanks for the warning. No need to watch if the consensus these guys came up with was qb play as the major difference.. They must read a lot of ESPN articles.

Yeah, QB ain't the difference at ALL. The Bills WRs were ALL beat up for the playoff game (and KC's receivers were a bit better anyhow) and KC's defense has impact players while ours really does not (at least last year.) Another way of putting it, KC Just has a better defense.

Our hopes are: The Bills get Ertz and become unstoppable offensively. Or, The Bills draft pays huge dividends. Or, KC runs into injury problems but the Bills could too.

    Did I miss anything?

I listened to this primarily to hear what they would say about the defense, but wow, Greg Cosell was effusive in his praise of Allen.  I still say anyone expecting a "regression" in play from Allen this season just doesn't get it.

As for the defense, DL was the primary topic and Cosell talked about the Bills using both Rousseau and Basham inside on "sub-fronts."

With respect to Miami, Cosell said Tua needs to function "in rhythm and in a structure" to be effective.  Wouldn't predict anything but said Miami is trying to give him the tools.

Cosell predicts Cam will be the QB in NE***.  Thinks their D will be "very solid."

I didn't listen to the Jets analysis because eff the Jets.

I could see Allen regress if Diggs gets hurt or we lose a couple others like Beasley and Sanders and we don't get Ertz.

I could also see a regression if our line falls apart. You need all three to have a great offense. The QB, the line and the weapons.

  19. 2 hours ago, Florida Bills Fanatic said:

You're exactly correct.  Don't forget about the improvement in the offensive line.  Not having a defender in his face on almost every throw made a big difference as well.

If you guys are intimating that JA didn't improve a ton too, you're crazy imho. JA clearly got better every year. It was all three, JA himself, his weapons and his line, allthewhile Daboll got to expand his offense with his coaches (who were mainly new) and players and getting better in so many ways over time. It was all exponential. It still is now with Sanders, Gabriel entering year two, we hopefully fix the LG position and develop the run game a lot more this year. Zach Ertz will be a huge add and allow our offense to compete with any in the league. The defense on the other hand should be good but unlikely great which is what we probably need to beat the chiefs or Bucs. Can Groot, Boogie And AJ bring electricity to the defense? Can Tremaine Edmunds take a big step? Will the LCB position hold up? A lot of teams are going to try and beat us this year by running the ball down our throat and controlling the clock, can we play great run D? I think those four questions are real and the answers will probably determine our season. Will it be very good (I say we sweep the East again) or great (can we win it all?)

I'll tell you, Tampa and KC are loaded and the class of the league. I think theBills lie at #3 but we are a clear notch below the top two right now.

the four questions: 1 maybe a bit looking promising for '22, 2 I sadly doubt it. 3 Probably up and down there all year but hopefully up for the playoffs. Like last year. 4 If we lose an AFC game, it will be because NE controls the clock against us with our D unable to get off the field.

  20. 1 hour ago, FilthyBeast said:

The AFC East is right up there with the AFC North and NFC West as the toughest division in the NFL which is why I think it will be a minor miracle if the Bills sweep the division again this year, or even go 5-1 in division play for that matter. Bills should still be the favorites by default but man is the rest of the division loading up.

Dolphins have a rock solid team top to bottom and will be in the thick of the division and playoff picture even with mediorce QB play. If Tua takes a big leap as many expect they could be a dark horse SB team.

Jets ceiling is probably 6 or 7 wins regardless of their QB situation.

Patriots added a ton of notable bodies and get a lot of opt out guys back on a team that went 7-9 and definitely see them back in the division title picture even with marginally better QB play than last year. Either way the clock is ticking on Belichik's coaching career and he won't go out low note.

Boy, do I disagree with this. The NFC West stands alone by a mile as the NFL's most competitive division. While the fish and pats have greatly improved they will still lose to Buffalo in sweeps. I figure one close game and one blow-out each. The Jets are the laughing stocks of the NFL now.

Josh Allen s simply king of the AFC East.

San Fran, LA and Az. Went to great lengths this year to be king's of their division. Seattle has a future HOF QB still in his prime at the bottom of the division. That is nuts.
