I know this is already in the "NFL draft rumors" thread, but given that it involves the team this forum is based on, and involves the position we all know they desperately need, and given that it's based on the reporting of at least one credible source....surely it deserves its own thread, no? I can't be the only one who doesn't regularly check the draft rumors thread. If it gets merged, so be it.

We're trading McD to the state of Georgia for a 4th round waterbug RB and Chan Gailey.

This board would explode if Beane ever had a draft like that (Whitner, McCargo, Youboty, Ko Simpson, Keith Ellison).  Silver lining is we landed Kyle Williams in that draft.

We got Whitner, Youboty, Ko Simpson, and Kyle Williams? That's a pretty good draft for Beane, no? Youboty and Whitner would've been pro bowlers for this staff. Williams was obviously great, and a refreshing change from this staff's inability to draft game-changing DL.

There is precisely a 0.0% chance AB has made a single one of those Tweets.

To steal an eloquent quote from 50 Cent to Floyd Mayweather -

"if you could read one full page out of a Harry Potter book (silly goose), I'll donate $1m to whatever charitable organization you want."

Now we're talking about AB, and I don't have $1m, but Id bet a paycheck AB can't read past a 5th grade level and dang sure can't write a single Tweet without multiple heinous spelling errors.

Whoever he hired is pretty funny though, hope they got paid up front!

LOL this is an absolute All-Timer

So like, he can't read/write well enough to make his own tweets, so he hired a professional, but was careful to make sure his professional tweeter types everything improperly?

I feel like pretty much everyone (other than Nick Wright) has come around on JA17 being a generational QB.

PFF hated him. Now they love him.

Aaron Schatz pre-2018-draft wrote scathing articles about him. He was the only person to give a 1st place vote for MVP for Allen.

I'm just frustrated for Allen more than I even am for myself--and I'm pretty freaking frustrated!!!

Josh Allen is not a better QB than Patrick Mahomes. But if the Bills drafted Patrick Mahomes in 2017 and the Chiefs drafted Josh Allen in 2018, I firmly believe the Chiefs would have won as many Super Bowls or more... I honestly think more. And I think the Bills would have been worse.

I realize that makes me a homer... but I hope you understand that I simultaneously believe that Patrick Mahomes is better than Josh and is inarguably the best QB in the NFL.

I just hope and pray as a frustrated WNYer and as one empathetic to the ultimate underdog in JA17 that in a decade that conversation is arguable.

I'm not sure how Mahomes is indisputably the best but would have less success in Buffalo and Josh would have more success in KC... are you just saying that's how it stands because you can't prove your scenario?

I fully agree with the bold part. I'm tired of having to throw Mahomes out of the argument as undisputed best, then make my arguments for Josh among the leftovers. If we'd just win a few damn SBs, we could actually have them in the same conversation.

The Bills have had the misfortune of getting really good at the same time that the Chiefs got really good.

The only difference is that the Chiefs have one of the five best head coaches in NFL history and arguably the best quarterback on planet earth. The Bills' head coach, while good, is not at Andy Reid's level. The Bills' quarterback, while elite, is not quite at Mahomes' level (I know, I know. But look at the All-Pros, the MVP, the Lombardis, the SBMVP. What else can one reasonably conclude?).

It's like when Peyton Manning's Colts got really good at the same time as Brady and Belichick's Pats. As much dominance as they had in the regular season, it never meant much come playoff time. Eventually, the Colts broke through, started making the matchups with the Pats a pretty even affair and a true rivalry, and wound up winning a championship. I tend to think that if the Bills win a title with Allen, it'll be the same kind of thing. A situation where they get hot at the right time, get the better of Mahomes or Burrow in a playoff matchup, and ride their momentum to a Lombardi.

I hate to say it, but we as Bills fans watched a new dynasty begin in the AFC just as the old one ended. I don't think the Chiefs are going anywhere any time soon, and until the Bills start beating them in the playoffs, a championship will continue to elude them.

That you know about as much about QBs as Jon Snow.

...and don't get me started on your shark knowledge.

The Chiefs are just a very well run organization and it goes beyond Mahomes.  Kelce and Chris Jones are unicorns and the Chiefs just keep drafting really well.  Meanwhile the Bills have Allen and a bunch of good but not great players.  Bills need difference makers.

Or some difference makers who aren't mostly injured by the playoffs.

I think part of it recently has been injuries. I know it’s an excuse but it’s also facts.

I feel like we've limped into the playoffs with major injuries every year. It's not an excuse but it's getting kind of ridiculous.

    I think it's simple:

The Bills have the second best quarterback on planet earth.

The BEST quarterback on planet earth, unfortunately, also plays in the AFC.

This is why the Bills have not yet won a Super Bowl.

    No.

We fired Ken Dorsey when we were 6-6. Since then, with Joe Brady as our OC, we've gone 5-0 and just took the Division and secured the 2 seed.

Really odd time to be talking about replacing him.

    I like your post but it's 5-1.

    Dear NFL officials,

As a concerned citizen looking out for the best for the league's fairness, I wish to document and report incidents of holding due to players wearing gloves the same colour as the opponents' jerseys.  Please do look into this.

    Yours truly,

    Phil Melichick,

PS  I may be moving to California soon.

He went walked away from HC of the Bills to become the OL coach of the Jags, who at the time were terrible. Had an opportunity as interim, to which they kept him and he had 1 "good" season, where he finished 10-6 carried by the defense. Marrone ultimately finished his time in Jacksonville with a .348 record. Had he been with a franchise with a real owner he would have lost his job much sooner than he did.

Afterwards he has strictly been an OL coach.

Marrone 100% flamed out of the NFL HC circle.

It's fascinating that he's an OC, but has never had a successful offense, and has always had a top 3 defense.

I wish McD were as good at hiring OCs as Marrone was at hiring DCs.

I don't care that he's a RB, that ball needs to be caught even if you're an unathletic FB.  It wasn't an exotic route.  He won the route, Allen dropped it in the bucket perfectly and Cook just simply dropped it.

I love the guy and he's a great talent but man, he seems to not be completely focused or something early in games.  Horrible way to start the Broncos game with the fumble.  Killed the momentum on the opening drive against the Eagles.  Last year against the Rams, fumbled on his first carry.  On the first drive against the Jets in the opener, first drive he completely whiffed on a blitz pick up.

This had me wondering. What if he had actual buckets for hands? Would he have caught it then?
