And once again Woods is throwing punches on the field....This time with Gilmore. Way to live up to your words.

I think the OTA's are a very small sample size but no doubt I would love it if E.J. could earn the job. Either way too early to tell IMO.
Nonsense, the articles over the last few weeks made it clear that Tyrod Taylor is the Bills new franchise QB. It cannot be otherwise.

EJ is old news as far as the media is concerned...Taylor is the hot commodity right now (new young prospect). When the media is asking about Taylor, players are going to talk about Taylor. They also aren't going to say anything bad at this point in the season. The media only wants to report about Taylor, not Cassel or EJ.
Just because the media is focusing on one guy doesn't mean all of the players are picking their man. People are falling hook, line, and sinker for the hype...Not to mention it's just practice in shorts.
I'm not a big Taylor fan, or EJ fan, or Cassel fan. I think they all suck, but the overreaction to statements which mean virtually nothing is priceless.

If Taylor is accurate, as Nigel Bradham mentioned, that'd put him ahead of Manuel and Cassel for me. Hope he's as good as Bradham and Jackson said at training camp.
Nigel Bradham is the golden standard for QB analysis.
Except everything else in his football career going back to college suggest that accuracy is by far and away the main problem for Tyrod. Media outlets are jumping on Tyrod stories every chance they get, because they know fans will eat it up regardless of content.
Also, when asked about teammates during interviews...players are rarely ever going to say anything bad. Nigel said about all he could say. It's not like he went out of his way to compliment Tyrod, he was specifically asked about him. Players were and are saying all the same things about EJ, and probably Cassel for that matter.

Jesus those videos were painful to listen to. It sounded like a 12 year old TBD fan frantically defending EJ.
I do think EJ is the Bills best chance this year, but unless you want to torture your ears, skip these videos or watch them on mute.

This reminded me of another Buffalo Bills "high upside" 7th round pick WR that a lot of scouts/analysts liked...He didn't have top end speed either but he does hold some franchise records.

Without Marcel it'll hurt either way, but Indy is a passing team and Dareus is best at stuffing the run. There are scarier matchups.
There's very little question that Dareus is a dominant pass rusher. Personally I'd say he's more effective as a pass rusher than run stuffer. He's arguably been the most dominant interior pass rusher since he's entered the league with 28.5 sacks (His sack numbers have also gone up each of the last 3 years). This includes his rookie year, and time playing NT. Considering Luck is among the best QBs in football, I'd say he'll certainly be missed.
Having said that, I think a Rex Ryan defense could survive a game without him, but it will be tough. Dareus ate constant double teams, meaning it was hard or impossible to double team Williams and Hughes also. Now the Oline can focus more on the outside rush.

Whaley has been consistently saying that he has now built the roster to where he can do what he feels is the correct development at certain positions, which is give rookies a redshirt year before they need to start. CB is a position where it is very critical especially of the areas where polish is needed include technique (like Darby). I wouldn't be surprised if Leo is "available" but it would need to be at the right price (agree they would want 3rd or higher which they are unlikely to get) and even then I think Graham would start over Darby.
I mostly agree with this...No one knows what Darby will look like in the NFL yet...It's not like he's a top 10 pick where you expect him to start right away...You don't trade McK, who more or less has proven himself now...for an unknown. Defense is clearly the strength of this team going into the season, you don't want to gamble with a crucial part of that.
Last year was a good example of what happens to a Rex Ryan defense without good CBs...And BTW, those CBs for the Jets last year were high CB picks by Ryan, like Darby.

Based on everything that I've heard from Whaley and Rex, the two rookies who have a shot to play significant position player roles this season are Miller and O'Leary.
I completely agree with this, and you don't need to hear Whaley say it for it to make sense. G and TE's were among the bigger holes on the team. Yes Clay is the obvious #1, but surely there will be a lot of 2 TE sets, and Oleary is already the obvious candidate for the #2 role. His blocking/receiving skills make him well suited to the #2 TE role. G has the current weakest set of "starters", so it's certainly within reason that Miller could win the job.
Having said that, I do think Darby has a chance to get plenty of playing time on passing downs as the 3rd/4th corner.

I never said he did, the rest of the secondary was targeted more. But when he was targeted he gave up a lot of catches that you would have liked to see him defend. That won't work in the NFL where they don't care if you are close the receiver or not. If they know they can just throw it by you, they will. Much like what happened in McK.
I'm not saying Darby will be a failure. He has all the physical skills, and with time could be a nice player....but I think it's foolish to assume he can come in and just start day one. Especially when you have a much more experienced guy in McK, who's coming off the best year of his career. He's got some flaws, which is why he went in the 2nd round (which was considered high end of his projection). He'll likely be eased in slowly, probably starting with nickle/dime duties. No reason to throw him to the fire. And absolutely no reason to get rid of McK.

I highly doubt that, especially this year. Gilmore is a lock to start, but he has FA looming. Graham is older, and if he is a candidate to start anywhere, the only place he would be considered is safety. Darby is a rookie, and a guy who struggled at times as a starter at FSU (He reminds me a lot of McK coming out in the draft, but less proven. He has the same concerns of having athleticism, but no ball skills)...I doubt the Bills are even considering him as a starter over McK this year. Darby will likely compete with Robey/Graham for the slot position.
Darby also makes for solid depth on paper, in case of injury.
Furthermore, McK is well suited to a Rex Ryan defense, with good man cover skills at short to intermediate range.
Ironically enough, the scouting reports that I read of Darby sound like his "weaknesses" are very similar to what Leodis had, his first four years or so in the season...they say he can keep up with and cover pretty much any receiver, but his "ball skills" are lacking... McKelvin was awesome in 2013, and after a rocky start in 2014, he returned to his 2013 form. Not sure why everyone is so anxious to run him off...
As someone who watched Darby his entire career...I can say I agree with those reports 100%. He has all the speed and agility you could want...he stays close to his man at all times...but when the ball is thrown to him, somehow the receiver always seems to come down with it. For those who watched FSU last year, remember how badly that secondary was torched all year...despite the hype with PJ Williams and Darby.
I personally thought he was drafted a bit early, and I consider him a project/slot guy. McK is the starter so long as he's healthy. Plus playing against Brady and that spread offense, you need all the cover guys you can get.

Karlos Williams has better measurements than Carlos Hyde, who the Bills tried to trade up for with a 2nd round pick.
He is bigger, just as strong, a bit faster...and he compared to players like Gurley, Blount and Bell.
I will keep saying this, as far as *overall physical talent* goes, it is, in my opinion...
1. McCoy
2. Williams
3. Brown
4. Jackson/Dixon
(They set out to make every position better 2 years ago, and that is exactly what they have done, at most spots...especially RB, WR, TE, CB...aka "playmakers.")
With the exception of maybe Blount, those comparisons are a little over the top. Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders were physically inferior in many ways to other RBs. Stephen Hill compared athletically with Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss...Physical comparisons don't mean much without production.
I've said before that I like this pick, he's good on ST's and a nice project to work on at RB...but people are getting carried away. He was replaced by Cook this year at FSU, and it was no contest who the better RB was. His stats look nice on paper, but he had some serious weak spots in his game that need to be developed (Balance, Vision, Instinct)...Hence the 5th round grade.
KW could end up being a pretty nice player, but comparing him to those mentioned above is setting the bar excessively high.

I don't see how this is a good move for him unless Roman is going to use FB instead of TE. That's possible but unlikely I think. It's good for the Bills in training camp and preseason but I don't see how he makes the roster.
Well FBs aren't exactly in high demand, and despite people liking his name Conner has had trouble finding and keeping jobs in the NFL. This is as good of a chance for him as any. He hasn't been on a roster for a full season since 2011. Of his ~4 yrs experience in the NFL, all of it was in NY, and 3 with Rex Ryan (who drafted him, let him go, then resigned him last year).

I like the pick in the 5th round (about where he was projected to go), but I wouldn't say he was a steal...and It's certainly quite a stretch to say he's primary back material.
I watch every FSU game, as I'm sure many have the last few years. Williams was one of those guys always hyped because of his athletic potential, but unfortunately he never really lived up to it. He's fast and strong, but he doesn't have good balance or vision, and certainly hasn't shown good instincts as a primary back.
What he has shown that he can do is be an explosive change of pace back, a good 3rd down back, and a good special teams player. KW (the new one), has only been playing running back for a couple of years, so maybe the Bills get lucky and he develops into something special. I think it's more likely that he is just a ST guy first, change of pace/3rd down/short yardage back in the future. That's all the Bills need right now anyway, with McCoy.
Stylistically he could be a more sporadic FJ replacement as a RB, and he's already a good STs guy with his athleticism and safety background.
It's a good pick for this point in the draft, the kind you generally expect. If we want to talk steals, I think Oleary has more starter potential as a 6th rounder.

They are also carrying like 13 or 14 Wrs into TC. I am thinking it has something to do with how they are setting up the qb competition with the two fields - they want an actual FB on each field to duplicate the plays... And need all those WRs for the same reason?
Exactly. Roman likely wants to go heavy with the FB, and obviously you don't want Felton having to run all the reps in camp.

The Bills have 5 RBs, would be 2 FB's with Conner, and a bunch of TEs. Lots of guys would have to go by the end of training camp with those numbers. I am certainly skeptical that the Bills will carry 2 FBs. I'm wondering if it's just a matter of contingency plans in case Felton gets hurt. Dixon, Williams, Clay, and Oleary can also block well in the backfield.
They also picked up a UDFA Lee Smith type, Clay Burton.

I actually think the 4-game suspension is perfect; I think the money and the draft picks were overkill. Isn't Brady the only one who the investigation named as someone who very likely had knowledge? If so, only Brady should be punished. The team, by nature of his personal suspension, is already being punished. I'm not sure how docking the team a first round pick in the 2016 draft can be punishment for something that was done by one player in the 2014 season.
Don't get me wrong ... I love that it's happening. I just think it's a misguided penalty.
I pretty much agree with this Gug, except I think Brady should have gotten a bigger suspension (definitely didn't expect it though). Brady was clearly the ring leader of this thing, and appears to have done it on his own. He also refused to cooperate in an A-rod like way. He should have faced the bulk of the punishment, with a longer suspension...and maybe no loss of a 1st round draft pick for the franchise.
It seems like they split the punishment between the franchise and Brady, where as I thought Brady should have gotten the heavier end.
As you said...I'm also just fine with out it worked out, provided they don't appeal their way out of this.

Don't be fooled by his 5 TD, no int, 300 + yard night against a good defense... It was apparently a miserable performance.
PFF has graded him a -.8 for that game. The facts have spoken.
