  1. I'm really not sure what to think about this trade. Productive RBs are not that difficult to find, McCoys cap hit seems pretty high for a RB, there are others coming available in FA such as DeMarco Murray, DeAngelo Williams, Chris Johnson, Peyton Hillis and soon apparently Steven Jackson that would not have cost Alonso. On the other hand, McCoy is still a good RB even if he is starting to decline, and LBs in general aren't that hard to find either. Ultimately I think both teams got what they needed short term. But I suspect long term Philly made out better.

Chris Johnson, Peyton Hillis and an old Stephen Jackson are not productive rb's... Murray theoritically wasn't coming to Buffalo.. DeAngelo could be either/or and I wouldn't have complained if the Bills had signed him.

  2. With respect to everyone I am sick and tired of hearing about these week 17 (maybe the pats will rest their guys) scenario.. Yes they will have the division likely wrapped up but they more than likely will not have the #1 seed locked up.. I'm sure they'd prefer to host Manning and the Broncos than to travel back out there for the AFC title game..

If we make the playoffs by winning out, make no mistake about it.. It will be against fully functioning Patriots squad.

  3.

I don't understand the reasoning that if EJ plays well it is a good trade and if he doesn't it may not be. Yes, we lose our #1 next year but almost every high first round QB gets three years to prove if they are the man or not.

We likely aren't taking a QB high in the first round next year even if EJ tanks. There are a couple at the top but chances are, with this defense and this offense, it will not at all be an obvious choice whether he is "very" good or not.

But the bigger and more important point is, it's all about Sammy, not EJ. We have him for five and maybe six years. If he is a star player, and only a star player, it will be a good trade.

Stars are tough to find. If, after three years or four, regardless of whether EJ is our guy, Watkins is a stud/star, it will be a good trade. A championship team, in any year, in any sport, needs a couple stars at any position, and several very good players at various positions.

But to me, the essential element is, it's easier to find two very good players than it is to find one star player. I would trade two very good players for a star or stud any day. The Bills have one star now and that is Mario. Watkins is really a stud talent.

  4. Is there any scenario where it would both be possible/advantageous and fans would root for a trade down that gets us a second 2015 first rounder?

I'm personally all for staying at 9, a slight trade up or a slight slight trade down depending on board. Personally wouldn't want to trade down to 23 for example.

  5. That is a very good point... But how many times do they need to say big WR before we can see through these potential smokescreens... Not that Stevie is on Byrds level.. but if we take ODB at 9 and trade/cut stevie as has been written... its the same as just taking ha-ha at 9.... spinning our wheels even if ppl believe ODB is better than Stevie.. just my thoughts...

Very excited for tonight... Go Bills!!
