I swear I can't remember watching another team have as many "almost sacks" that make you wonder "How did the QB escape?!?!?" over the last 5 years as the Bills have had...every game it seems they have 3 or 4 that other teams would get.  Literally felt the only reason AJE got that sack last night was Mac Jones basically ran right into him and forced him to sack him.

I don’t get it either.  It has to be coaching.  Every one of our D-lineman seem to not be able to tackle the QB except for Von.  It’s almost like they are overly concerned with keeping contain or something and this causes them to take weird angles and not go for the tackle.  It’s quite odd.

Not to hijack, but where was Ed Oliver, esp after that monster game?

There were some significant line stunts going on the entire game.  I haven’t watched the All-22 but I think Ed played a big role in some of those middle pressures using the stunts.

  3. The Athletic article post game by Joe Buscaglia goes in depth on Hines and Cook.  Excerpt below:

“3. The Cook and Hines package returns with a vengeance

Against the Browns in Week 11, the Bills flashed a personnel package including both Cook and Nyheim Hinesas a means to put pressure on the defense in different ways. They did it on a handful of snaps, but it wasn’t a heavy piece of their game plan. Then against the Lions in Week 12, the Bills mostly went away from that personnel grouping, and Hines himself as the back had only four snaps total. But offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey may have been keeping it in his back pocket for the Patriots game, as they used Cook and Hines on the field together a whopping 12 times throughout the game. While it doesn’t seem like a lot, that’s far more two-running back sets than the Bills had ever run previously. The Bills effectively used Hines in a similar way Brian Daboll used Isaiah McKenzie as a gadget receiver several years ago. And despite some plays that were duds, it was highly productive with some chunk plays. The Bills gained 78 yards on those 12 plays, for an average of 6.5 yards each time. Considering the Bills only averaged 4.6 yards per play on their other 60 plays, that Cook and Hines group gave them a major edge as it was sprinkled in throughout the game.“

As other posters have said, it’s about matchups!!  Hines was a great add!!

  4. I was at the game sitting in the end zone from where the Bills started the drive.  I can tell you that my ears were literally ringing and my buddy’s Apple Watch was giving the “sound warning” notice from the decibels.  It was extremely loud.  Allen’s pass to get us off the goal line dropped the decibels significantly.  I wouldn’t call it “the” turning point but it was a very significant play.  The Chiefs we’re looking to get the ball back and add on to their lead before half.

7 WR went between our original 2nd Round Pick and where we picked Khalil Shakir.

We had the opportunity to select them with the James Cook or Terrel Bernard picks...

Which one of the guys is making a serious difference right now? You can make a case for Doubs...

    • Velus Jones Jr. - Round 3, Pick 7
      • Out first 3 weeks due to lingering hamstring issue
      • Made his debut week 4
        • Played 0% of offensive snaps
        • Played 37% of special teams snaps
        • Lost 1 fumble

    • Jalen Tolbert - Round 3, Pick 24
      • Healthy scratch week 1 and week 2
      • Made debut week 3
        • 1 catch for 4 yards
      • Healthy scratch again in week 4

    • David Bell - Round 3, Pick 35
      • Played in 4 games
      • 4 receptions on 5 targets for 47 yards

    • Danny Gray - Round 3, Pick 41
      • Healthy scratch week 1 because Shannahan needed ST players
      • Played 9% of offensive snaps week 2
      • Played 11% of offensive snaps week 3

    • Romero Doubs - Round 4, Pick 27
      • 19/24 for 184 and 2 TD

    • Calvin Austin - Round 4, Pick 33
      • Has yet to play a snap due to injury

I have to admit that your argument is quite convincing Sir!

  6. Does anybody think that we’ll purposely eat more clock with the offense this week given the rash of injuries to our secondary?  McDermott always talks about complementary football.  If you’re really worried about the Dolphins offense or our defenses ability to stop them, then just keep them off the field.

  7. Ref what defense to play.  I think we held out Our banged up DTs to get them healed up for the Fish.  McDermott knows that the first priority is to win the Division.  I think we use the KC blueprint with some intermittent pressure packages to force throws where we want them to go.  Our D baits QBs to throw into certain spots through manipulation of coverage and rush.

  8. Dabs brought the read option to NY with him.  Watching Daniel Jones run that play is cringy.

As for the debate, I’m not a fan of Josh running all the time.  But, you have to balance that with the player and the way they like to play the game.  If being able to run makes Josh play free than I guess we’ll all just have to accept it.

  9. I’d like to see us control the pace of the entire game.  The defense needs to get off the field on 3rd Down, especially when it’s 3rd and short.  My concern with ball control teams, like the Titans and Ravens, is that our offense doesn’t get into and maintain a rhythm.  We need to play our game and destroy this team.  As they said in Remember the Titans, “Leave No Doubt!”

Thought they looked really good against GB. I think there head coach is going to be good for Cousins. They certainly have weapons.  Maybe too high but not very many teams were that impressive week 1.

Cousins to Jefferson was crazy!  Jefferson pulled down almost 40 fantasy points.

No joke, if I don’t watch, they are practically undefeated, and I’ve been a fan since 1981. My father used to tell me, I could be a very rich man if the Bills were aware of this, in other words, they would send me a weekly check in order to ensure I don’t watch their games.  This is a true story - I’m not exaggerating.

    Do your part!!  Don’t watch!!

  12. In 2019, the Broncos traded Sanders to the San Francisco 49ers midseason. He played for the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills in the following two seasons before deciding to end his NFL career.

Sanders retires with 704 career receptions, 9,245 receiving yards and 51 receiving touchdowns. The two-time Pro Bowler also recorded 202 rushing yards with one score.
