We have improvement in the past some around here wanted to cut starting players so we could get a comp pick....
-
he is a lucky guy, collected a 1st round contract and now playing for 16 mil a year to be the 3rd receiving option playing in the super bowl...
-
Jackson out performed by two non-QBs in a throwing accuracy competition... ?

Cutting Star makes on sence this year 7.8 dead to save 2.2. Some people are acting like he cant play. If he could be replaced for 2.2 great, but I would bet it would take 5 plus to replace him. 2021 it could become a serious conversation with a 5 million savings.
Cutting a FB to save 1.8 when not up against the cap? Considering his special teams play, it could be difficult to to replace him and save something.
If looking for cap casualties that look to make sence I see only 3 at this time Kroft saving 5 with 1.6 dead, Murphy saving 7 with 1.75 dead and Nsekhe saving 3.7 with 1.5 dead. Not saying they all should be cut but they free up enough to help bring in some upgrades at their position.
It seem like many are quick to want to cut a guy when the replacement is not on the horizon.

At times the play calling sucked, and they were short a WR...
I dont know if the play calling will be any better, but would bet they will improve their weapons.

I think we should be talking about passing on Brady (6 times), Wilson, Prescott, Breeze etc.
The bears took Mitch instead of Pat, and 3 other teams did not have a good QB situation ahead of the Bills that year.
When looking back on drafts it should be more about who you picked rather than who you didnt....

Its all about the money. For a reasonable deal sign him up, top 10 pay for his position no thanks...
-
With a year left the Bills have the leverage for an extension. Should be easy to get him a nice raise for 2020 and get a bit of a discount in 2021. Good faith on both ends....
If he is not interested fine let him play 2020 on the cheap while trying to earn his next contact with someone else.

Some of the arm chair GMs are pretty funny around here.
Cut a bunch of guys without having replacements????
you would think the team was 0 and 16......

Not quite, he's owed a $750,000 roster bonus on 3/22 and $2M of his salary guarantees on that date.
The dead money goes up $2.75M (roster bonus plus guaranteed 2020 salary)
So, a sizable gamble.
Thanks for the details!!

he has a 2020 Roster Bonus of $750,000 due 3/22/2020. likely gone before that comes due
And free agency opens 3/18.
If thy pay him the roster bonus does the dead money go up $750,000?

I think it's more a matter of do you stand pat or move on?
Kroft is gonna be due $5.6M in salary and roster bonus in 2020. Add in his amortized signing bonus, that makes him #16 on the TE AAV list or something like that.
Spotrac suggests that Hunter Henry or Austin Hooper (if available) would be something like a $9M AAV signing. I don't know if that's too "deep end of the pool" for Beane, but he's almost certainly not gonna go after one of those guys if he's got a top-20 TE in AAV already on the roster.
I say hedge, no need to make a hard and fast decision at this point. If they can bring a guy in great!! At the end of camp Kroft can be cut, and it would very mean little toward the cap. Cap room is no problem anyway. If he is cut now and one of the TEs gets a serious injury in camp/preseason the position could take a big step backwards.
I see no real upside to cut now.
-
They bring 90 guys into camp, why shouldnt he be one of them. Nothing like good camp competition to make a team better....
-
-
and he only had 13 carries in the game, and none in overtime!?
-
I am surprised this is the first time I have seen this talked about. While watching the game I thought he could have gotten both feet in, he misjudged it. Just was not our day. These things happen, but always seems to happen to us at the wrong time.
-
Well the coaching staff will surly have a long conversation about activating him after a 100 yard game with a 2nd QB against a good defense.
I trust whatever decision they make...

Why not let practice squad players be active on game day, and let it be.
-
From the current roster there are 16 players that are signed for next year, so the roll over money will be needed to "fill" the roster.
-
Yes he could play WR!!! but you could bet he is not better than than the guys who are playing. If he were better than some of the guys playing I would think the coaches would know it.
Got to have faith that the coaches know their personnel.

Jackson is ok and all but its the Ravens D that is not getting the credit it should.

Well the Titans also play the raiders as well, so it's INCREDIBLY unlikely. Like fractions of a fraction.
I figured you were applying your pennsyltucky math....

Correct. Titans and colts play each other, however, and the bills play the Steelers. So if the bills beat the Steelers, they're 10-6 with a tiebreaker over the Titans.
So again, assuming the bills only win 1 and it comes against the Steelers, they're in.
So, either the colts/titans and the raiders could win out and have 11 wins, right?

She thinks he is that great, then she should broker a trade deal that gets the Bills a 2nd.
