  1. Great thread. Yes, as there is not a salary cap on coaches, that is an area to get a distinct advantage. When $ is not an issue. Unfortunately this is where Bills could not compete before Pegula. Sadly this is the common denominator over the past 15 years. Psyched to be on the other side of that now.

    Go Bills!

  2. Well, that is where those depth guys -- draft picks and bargain bin guys -- come in.

What they really need is some coaching to restore the line. They seemed to block without purpose this season. That, plus premium talent, will win games and will shore up the situation in the inevitable event of injuries. It seemed like they were tinkering from day one, and that guys frequently didn't know their roles.

Glen's preseason injury last year really was a bad complement to bringing in so many new OL. Never really was able to get set before season started.
  3. I don't think they are waiting for anything, I think they are inept. Why interview 20/30 people? It's a waste of everybody's time. This isn't a rebuild job, it's a team on the cusp of winning. That said I don't think you want an inexperienced, would be first time head coach coming in here and learning on the job. This position right now needs an experienced coach to come in and hit the ground running, like a Rex Ryan. Target 5 maybe 10 guys like that and hire somebody, this interviewing of 20/30 guys is a waste IMO. He who hesitates is lost.

I think they can learn a lot about coaches and the league by interviewing so many. Very unique opportunity, especially for new owners. Then to know so many of the coaches they'll play against one day. That's gotta be worth a lot and about more than just finding their coach.

  4. Here is the thing: if fans are really serious in their crusades against the NFL and its officials, they should compile a dossier of the questionable calls made over the years agains the Bills, noting the officiating crew on hand as well as the critical nature of the calls in question (i.e., how they affected the game). Do this, and then present your results to the league (or a seedy plaintiffs' attorney or media rabble-rouser). Otherwise this is just more hot air. Do the homework and come back to us.

Why would you suggest it's only one officiating crew? Just a simple list would do. One of the local news reporters should have done this by now. I get taking the high road and not blaming refs for all the Bills issues but you cannot be a fan and think the Bills do not get hosed on a weekly basis.

  5. Idk if anyone else really noticed all the HOLDING that was going on between the trenches but it seemed like the Chargers oline was not just trying to block the Bills defenders but we're also trying to date them as well. I seen at least 15 plays where there Oline was hugging either Kyle, Dareus or Hughes. It was ridiculous how many times they got away with it on 3rd downs. It was almost like the refs gave them a holding pass before the gm even started. Mof they weren't even called once the whole gm for holding while on the flip side every time the Bills made a big play it was coming bk.

I'm just saying something was fishy bout the gm from the get go as the Chargers threw 2 illegal pk plays on there scoring drive. These pks weren't your typical pks they were while the ball was in the air. Could all this have something to do with the point spread starting at pk em and moving to Bills -2. All the money was on the Bills seemed like a trap to me.. I could be wrong but I was wondering if anyone else seen all these non calls that I feel affected the gm in a big way?

Yeah, Bills, only team to get hosed by home team refs.

  6. Williams also made a nasty block on a nice gain in the first half. They didnt show a replay but he came storming up the sidelines and lit up a Bear right before our guy stepped out of bounds. Great nasty hustle play. Watkins, Woods, Williams and Goodwin all block.

Thanks. You saved me from having to go back and find that play. I was meaning to find out who that was.

You can tell when you watch certain players that they have the natural instincts to succeed. They might have a terrible game, but you can see their innate ability to understand the game and to adapt instantly to changing conditions. You can't teach this natural ability. Unfortunately, EJ Manuel doesn't seem to have this ability.

He doesn't have the knack for the game. Sure he's big and has a strong arm etc. but he doesn't know how to play!!!

I thought the Bills made a mistake, based on desperation, when they drafted him. I was appalled that they drafted a 3rd rounder at best in the 1st round and I have seen nothing to this point that changes my mind. I thought Tuel showed more instincts and that is not saying much.

The Bills near term success will ride on the QB position. EJ Manuel is not the answer. Yikes!

And he seemed so disinterested in his interview and uninspiring. Especially for such a moving HOF Bills weekend. He seems off. Not sure if thats how he was in college.
