  1. I know this might not be a popular response, but if you read the game notes on buffalorumblings.com, Chris Kelsay actually played well throughout the season. He's not a sexy player, but he's actually pretty good. he provides a lot of leadership for our team and embodies the type of player that Chan and Buddy want on our team. That being said, expect danny batten to challenge Kelsay in this spoke. Batten is the prototypical size for the position, and I think the coaching staff likes him a lot. One Love
  2. I still believe Lee Evans is a big asset to the Bills. The dude is a freak with deep balls (no homo). He may not be as fast as he used to be, but he's still amazing at putting double moves on DB's. He also helps Stevie Johnson by commanding double coverage. Although you may not think he's a good player, he is a guy that other teams have to double team and game plan for. I'm a bull on Lee Evans. Go Bills!
  3. I like Von Miller, but I think he is overrated because of his workouts. Miller does not have the size and strength to play against the run in the NFL (this is the last thing we need). He seems like a misfit. Kind of like Aaron Maybin. Yup, I said it. I would be very disappointed if the Bills selected Patrick Peterson. While he's a really good corner, the Bills arguably have three #1 corners; Drayton Florence, Terrence McGee, and the up and coming Leodis McKelvin.
  4. Trading down and still getting Cameron Jordan would be ideal. However, If I was a betting man, I wouldn't bet on Buddy Nix trading out of that pick. I just look at stats and watch tape, what review were you looking at? Sounds like a good review. I totally agree with you, but I don't think there are any better options for the Bills. The only other guy who might make sense is Georgia WR A.J. Green. He's an impact player. I just really feel strongly that Buddy wants a 3-4 DE with this pick. Another possible argument for those two guys is that they don't necessarily fit the 3-4 scheme. Cameron Jordan fits the 3-4 scheme perfectly. 6'4'' 287 pounds, can push the pocket back, can rush the passer, and has experience in the 3-4. Dareus and Fairley are good players, but they strike me as 4-3 DT fits. I might be reading too much into fit instead of just looking at the player, but it is definitely something to consider. In addition, I feel that Cameron Jordan is on equal talent level as those two guys. The fact that he played in a 3-4 limited his statistical production, however, the impact he had on games was huge in my opinion. The guy is an absolute force.
  5. Buddy Nix Rant I believe the Bills first round pick will be California 3-4 defensive end Cameron Jordan. Buddy Nix has said that the Bill need at least two more 3-4 ends, and I think Jordan is a rare enough talent to take at #3. Here is a really good review of him: Cameron Jordan Review -Mike
  6. Erik Ainge can be the long term answer for the Buffalo Bills at QB. Resume: In college, he was a productive 4 year starter at Tennessee. His senior year he threw 31 TDs and only 10 interceptions while completing over 62 % of his passes. He has been molded for two years by highly respected OC Brian Schottenheimer. Strengths as a Football Player: - He's smart and understands how to read defenses/go through reads - Big time arm and can make all the throws - Can throw on the move - Very good pocket presence (he was the least sacked QB in college football) - Has a natural throwing motion, not mechanical - Very good athlete for his size That being said, I think that Jake Locker and Andrew Luck are UNBELIEVABLE QB prospects. I think both of them have far more potential than Sam Bradford. I would be ecstatic if the Bills were able to land either one of these guys. However, I don't think Buffalo will pick low enough to grab either one of these guys. Despite my affinity for Ainge, Locker, and Luck I do think that Trent Edwards can be productive for Buffalo. I fully expect Trent to win the starting job and have his best year to date.
  7. I'm really glad you made a post about Danario. He has been on my radar since before the NFL draft. I do a lot of my stats research on cfbstats.com, and Danario was flat out PRODUCTIVE. I think it would definitely be wise for the Bills to add him to the mix. In my opinion, he has a very high upside.
  8. I think Gailey's offense will be new. Basically, it will be perhaps the first time ever that an offensive coordinator suits an offense to this specific type of personnel. The Bills have 3 very good running backs that can all line up at wide receiver. No other team in the NFL has this. They also have two guys that can take it the distance every play (roscoe and CJ).
  9. Here is a direct quote from Wikipedia: "The most famous and complete usage of the no-huddle offense was executed by the Buffalo Bills offense, nicknamed the "K-Gun", during the 1990's under head coach Marv Levy and offensive coordinator Ted Marchibroda." I was in a sense innovative, because it was the first time a team pretty much exclusively ran the no huddle offense
  10. CJ Spiller is going to be the biggest match-up problem in the NFL next year, and here are the two reasons why. 1. CJ has a has a very unique COMBINATION of talents -Speed, quickness, vision, and patience to run the ball -Deep speed, short area quickness, good hands, and intellegence to be a receiver 2. Chan Gailey has the creativity and the balls to use Spiller in the best and most unconventional ways -The Bills offense is going to be different than every other offense in the NFL. There is going to be a lot of motion that is going to cause confusion in defenses. And if defenses make one wrong step, guys like CJ Spiller and Roscoe Parrish are going to take it the distance. -Some of the best offenses in the NFL are the different offenses. Remember the K-Gun? One of the reasons that was so successful is because the Bills were the only team in the NFL that was fully committed to it. Similarly, the Dolphins are the best at the Wildcat because they are the most heavily committed to it. In summary, the Bills didn't just draft a runningback/wr. They drafted a player that is going to help them launch a new style of offense that I believe will be very successful.
  11. Jackson and McNeil would definitely make the Bills a better team. Unfortunately, I don't see the Bills signing either one of these guys. I feel like Chix wants to see how their young and untested receivers produce before bringing in new guys through trade/free agency. For whatever it's worth, I think Steve Johnson is going to be a big time player for the Bills next year. After watching him play in college and for the Bills, I think he has the "it" factor.
  12. I think you are technically correct that Troy Smith was never named the week one starter. Troy Smith was named the starter of the 3rd preseason game though. It would probably be best if a Ravens fan could interject and tell us what was really going on.
  13. I think it would be a great move for the Bills to sign Troy Smith. Considering that Trent is injury prone, it's important that the Bills have three quality players at the QB position (I'm a Trent fan, and I think he's going to get the starting job). I think you make a really good point about Troy Smith getting sick at the wrong time. The fact of the matter is that he did win the Baltimore starting QB job over Joe Flacco. I am from Columbus and went to every game that Troy Smith played in. I can tell you that he has the arm strength, poise, and pocket presence to be a successful NFL QB. Whether or not he can read defenses quickly and on a consistent basis is yet to be seen. However, the fact that he won the Baltimore job at one point makes it seem as though he can digest a complicated offense.
  14. Ryan Fitzpatrick does not have the "strong arm" that Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey say the Bills' QB needs to have. Because of this, I do not think that Fitzpatrick is going to win the job. I'm interested where you heard Fitzpatrick is the most respected in the locker room. The only thing I have heard is Cornell Green say he thinks Trent is doing really well on BB.COM. Also, Gailey said that Brohm has made a big stride (maybe because he has been so far behind and finally caught up?) At this point, I would be surprised if Trent Edwards does not win the job. He is the only QB on the roster with a strong enough arm for Chix AND a significant amount of game experience. My prediction is: 1. Trent Edwards 2. Ryan Fitzpatrick (has proven to be a quality back-up) 3. Levi Brown (Chix said they are going develop Brown, so he has to be on the roster to develop I think) Brian Brohm gets cut.
  15. I also think that the offense will benefit from Gailey this year. Even before this specific video on BB.com, Trent Edwards has always voiced his preference for only 1 "go to guy" for questions. The bottom line is that Gailey has coached productive offenses wherever he has been.
