Mistakes, self induced, had an impact on those games. That is on the players. Lack of execution is on the players. Coaching has been spotty and game plans with the lack of adjustments early in games is a problem. All these together leads to losses.
I rewatched the game after that segment. Oliver did the same thing a couple more times. The D line is asked to tie up O line so the LB or Safety can make the stop. When they flipped the play the same problem cropped up. Solution is easy but hard. Take out the OG/C gap and occupy them.
Watched the play break down. Oliver was in the guard/center gap. He needs to take those two on. Instead he engages the center. The guard moves to the next level. He pushed Edmunds to the left of the hash mark. The back side guard is steam rolling Milano to the same area. Hyde had to choose the far side where the run was going or the cut back. He was too slow to react to that cut back. If you look, the OT was blocking Wallace. WR Harry had Epenessa pushed inside and the full back took out Dodson. Breakdown starts when one does not execute. Oliver takes the OG/C double team leaves Edmunds to fill the hole and Hyde to cover the outside. Thanks to Brian Baldinder
Brian Baldinger with his Baldy's break down. Showed NE had success on one run play that they used effectively to both the left and right. Pulling the guard, Using Harry block down on the end and the full back leads to the wide side. Bills DEs and OLB could not shed the blocks and big runs happened. That is all on the players. Tampa Bay and others will take note. The run defense is not good. SOOOOO the offense will have to score early and often.
