  1. I really don't understand the Broncos's new philosophy of letting all their talent go. At least we scooped up Andra Davis via it.
  2. Quinn never had a 68 completion percentage, and I'll take Clausen's 28-4 over Quinn's 37-7
  3. Tim, I am really starting to get the feeling that offensive tackle is not going to be the pick at 9. Based on the players that are likely to be available, It doesn't seem like Trent Williams or Anthony Davis would fit in with Buddy Nix's strategy (via the luncheon) of picking guys that are safe bets to be productive. If Jimmy Clausen isn't the pick, linebacker would make much more sense. Their are more productive players at the position, like Sergio Kindle, Jerry Hughes, or Derrick Morgan. I could even see Rolondo McClain being picked, despite our new found depth at ILB. What do you think?
  4. The "more productive" qb depends on how you interpret the stats. Clausen's junior year was better than any season Quinn had, which to me makes him a better pro prospect. When people are comparing all of these prospects, the most important factor gets overlooked too much, and that is decision making. Whether or not a QB can read a defense and instantly recognize the progression order is what sets QB's like Brees and Manning apart, and what made Losman unsuccessful. Looking at the 4 QBs this year, Clausen really stands out in this area. He only threw four interceptions last year, and when you watch his footage, Clausen is excellent at scanning the field, and than ripping the ball where it needs to be. To me, this screams NFL prototype QB, even more so than Sam Bradford.
  5. I think the hate for Clausen is so overblown. In one aspect, his interview was better than everyone else's. Clausen was the only player taking notes in the film session with Gruden. This shows two things, he is willing to come in, listen, and learn. Additionally, he's going to do so in a professional manner, which is something working with a NFL coach for 3 years will teach you. Lots of times successful people are cocky jerks, but that doesn't hurt their performance. People tend to forget that Jim Kelly was pretty full of himself when he was QB. As far as Gruden, I thought he really made it interesting. Knew his stuff, and wasn't afraid to ask the questions like a coach would. He can be pretty hilarious, too.
  6. We've seen time and again that quarterback talent isn't so much a predictor as it is a cut off in the NFL. QB is all about being able to read and react. In that sense, I'd be much more willing to see another year of what Trent can do as opposed to bringing in Russell, who clearly has no concept of defensive schemes.
