  1. First, let me preface this rant by saying that I hate the Jests more than any other professional sports team, and perhaps even as much as hot garbage, tree huggers and Cancer. I hate the JESTS!

With that being said, I continue. . . . It’s obvious that the Jests made several off-season splashes this year- much more so than our Bills have. I’d even venture to say that their off-season this year is already much louder than ours was last year- even though we signed T.O.!

So what, who cares! Did some of us (as-well-as others in the national media) forget that there are 16 games in the NFL season, and that this is still April?

Sure, they added legitimate threats, but they also lost a premier running back in Thomas Jones and replaced him with a pedestrian LT- who is now but a shell of his former self. Cromartie was a positive pickup (especially when complemented by Revis) but he’s not a sure bet either--- Tim Graham had this to say:

“Cromarite isn't guaranteed to shine. He has been inconsistent the past two seasons. He has gotten scorched for touchdowns. He badly misses tackles. He has off-field issues (seven children by five women) that must be considered.”

Now, lets consider that Sanchez did not have a very good year and the Jests relied completely on their defense and running

game to win…. And could only do so if Sanchez played an error-free game. Additionally, their offensive play calling in several games was terrible. Buf/NYJ game 1 was a perfect example. . . . Why throw the ball (and get 5 INTs) when you’re rushing for 30 yds a pop! WILL SANCHEZ SLUMP?

Can Rex’s huge personality hold team of primadonnas together, or will his lap-band procedure leave him cranky, exhausted and without energy? A funny but serious point!

Let’s not forget that the Jets backed into the playoffs by beating resting Indy and Cincy teams. Sure they surprised Cincy the week after, and the Chargers after that- but that does not erase the fact that they played like runny poo poo for much of the season.

Will they be better? Probably. Will they win the SB? Who can really say! I think too many people are overlooking legitimate issues with this team. Let’s just see how well they do playing a difficult schedule before we coronate them as the team of the next decade!

I have to agree on this. Most people are reacting to getting Holmes for a 5th. I have to admit it sounded good. I'm just not sold on that team. They are miles better than we are in the trenches. But they are hardly a team to fear. They have plenty of question marks going into next next year. Why angst about the Jets? Let's think about the Bills.

  2. I don't think we're planning our draft around Nic Harris either way.

This sums it up nicely. But the kid is a football player and plays with speed & likes to hit. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the field opening day.

  3. seattle and cleveland have serious needs at a long term QB.

so may oakland, bc russell is terrible and if they had even an average QB they might win 8 games or more

and washington has mcnabb for one year, who knows if theyll want to give him another contract.

these teams may have other needs, but QB is the most important position, as we know.

lets just accept we will be choosing between B. Graham, Bulaga/Davis, & Dan Williams.

Hopefully we go Tebow or lefevour in a later round and develop them.

    Dont hate me...

Must be nice to know it all beforehand! Kiper and Mayock got nuthin on you. Wish I hadn't read this as now there'll be no suspense whatsoever!

  4. Let forget about who is going where for one second.....if you can mange that then read on. B-)

To me the NFL draft is the beginning of the 2010 season. I look forward to it almost as much as I do the Final Four.

It means Spring is finally here.

Like the fact they finally moved it to primetime TV , I'll be at work though, doubt that anything will get done until the Bills pick.

But the main reason to watch is to see the players who were invited to the draft and watch them fall unexpectedly. That shyt must be nerve racking.

now THAT is reality TV at its finest . You may proceed to comment :)

It's the rite of spring. All things are possible. And deep within the hearts of even the most bitter and negative of the TBD posters lies a kernal of hope and excitement. I love the draft!

  5. 1. I know that Gerald McCoy is probably not an NFL NT, but thanks for clarifying that in a sarcastic way.

    2. Just because the draft is deep in DL doesn't mean that it has a lot of NT candidates. Many (most) of the

top DT prospects are much more suited to the 4-3 or possibly to 3-4 DE than they are to NT.

This is the best draft for a NT in recent years! We need a two down run stuffer then bring in Kyle on third down.

  6. IMO we should trade Lee Evans for a 1st rd pick in next years draft. This team is far from bein any good, and by the time we are any good lee will be at the tail end of his career. I know everyones going to say "who are we going to throw the ball to then"? my answer it doesnt matter the Bills are an at best 6-10 football team for the next 2-3yrs. So get the value while we can

No one will give a first rounder for Evans! If someone wants to, great! But that is just crackerdogs. Lee's the one decent receiver we have. Let's be realistic on this page!

  7. Alright - I've read enough posts and articles on the Bills to know we all more or less think we're 2-3 years away from really being competitive. Now, my question is, is there a way we could be competing for the division title This Year? What would we need to get, positionally, to do this? Could it happen - that we're in the fight this year?

Conversly, if you're thinking - no way! Then, what makes us capable of competing in a few years? The Jets and Miami have new coaches that seem top shelf, and good, solid teams. And, New England is New England - and has 4 picks in the first 2 rounds this year! These other teams aren't seeming to be getting worse, by any means, any time soon.

So, what do we need to do This Year, to give our team a chance...? We've got, I think, 9 picks.

First off, don't panic. The Sabres just won the division with virtually the same team that missed the playoffs last year. A key addition here and there will make a big impact. Concentrate and running the ball and stopping the run. Build for that and the QB situation automatically improves (as someone on this thread pointed out...see Flacco and Sanchez) Build inside out and we will be a team to be reckoned with.

  8. If we draft a QB that you don't like, will you support them if they are the starter in week one? Likewise, if Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Brohm are the starter on week one, will you support them?

Or, will you be pissed off on because your quarterback of choice isn't the starter? That then begs the question, will you root for the starting QB to fail, just to say you were right?

Whoever our front office selects as our starter isn't going to please everyone. I'm just curious to know if we'll give them a fair shot.

If we have a decent line in front of whoever it is and we move the ball and win games....I'm good. The starting QB is Chan's and Buddy's call and they have both forgotten more about football than any of us wannabes are going to learn. As long as it isn't the dog killer Vick, just win baby.

  9. http://www.realfootball365.com/articles/bills/14820

Interesting take on Buddy Nix from RF365.com

Good read. I have to agree on this take on Nix and QB's. Given what the FO has said about solving the QB issue before the draft, if no trade or deal is made, I have to believe Buddy's going to go QB at #9. I'm not crazy about Claussen, but at this point, I have to just say "In Buddy we trust." If he' sold on Claussen, I'm going to go with it.

  10. 2nd for gaither, 4th for Campbell. Trade down in the first, pick up Cody or whomever Nix feels the best NT is.

With the trade down we should have 2 second round picks. Get the best two pass rushers (DE and OLB) available.

Okay. I can't find a ton of fault with this scenario. Still like to get a big nasty guard so Wood can play center.

  11. Please don't take this as me being smart, but just humor me for a minute.

I'll give you the Saints team with Edwards, and I'll take the Bills team and take Brees. I will win 8 out of 10 times. Do you agree?

No. Saints are just a better team all the way around. Brees didn't hit many bombs. his short passes chewed up the Colts. Understand, our lines suck. We can't run, we can't stop the run. We can't pass block or get off the field on third down. Brees wouldn't fix that.

  12. I love what they are doing. You build great teams through the DRAFT, not in Free agency. We are no where close to being ready to try and bring in big names, and we couldn't if we wanted to till we were more competitive.

I love what they are doing and am willing to give them time

I agree 100% The new FO boys are not kneejeck. Build us a young, strong and tough team through the draft and don't worry about the negative nabobs and their constant handwringing.

  13. McNabb going to the Skins is terrible for the Bills. Means they will more than likely go LT for sure. Hope the Lions take DT or the Bills could miss out on the top LT's. Don't be surprised if it's Spiller at 9.

Ridiculous. Maybe if Donahoe were here. Ask the Texans if they regret not taking Reggie Bush? Running backs have a short life span and there's plenty of good ones. There are only a handful of great LT's, NT's and QB's and we need one of each. This is a deep draft for wide bodies and we need to focus on that.

  14. 1) He doesn't want to play in a 3-4 - that's what seems to have precipitated his displeasure with the Redskins

    2) He's not suited for a 3-4

    3) No way Ralph ponies up for the amount remaining on his contract

He's not suited for the 3-4? He's 6' 6" and weighs 350 pounds! What the Hell is he suited for, a speed rusher? He just doesn't want to play NT because it's hard work and not glamorous. Poor Fat Albert! He's got a $21mil bonus coming and he doesn't want to play NT. Boo Frickety hoo. Who needs that crybaby underachiever at that money? Maybe they'll cut him before the big pay day and and he can ponder what position he feels like playing this year.

  15. In the NFP Michael Lombardi made the following statement:

    http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Diner-...r-NFC-East.html

"The common thread to achieving success in the NFL is having a good coach, a quality quarterback, a left tackle and a defense that can rush the passer."

Do we have any of these?

You forgot stopping the run. You don't have to rush the passer if your line is blown up for 200 yards plus rushing every game. We need and OT, NT, LB and QB and you all can fight about the order, but no success unless we get all of them.

  16. Guys,

Nix has already said you can't do it all in one year. If Clauson is there, you HAVE to take him. And not take him for 2010, you take him for the future. Build through the best players...one at a time.

We don't "have" to take him if he's a reach at #9. I guess Buddy knows best, but we need OL and DL and we need them pronto or no QB will be left standing and we'll never get off the field on 3rd down. We need wide bodies!
