Mike Shanahan is showing the NFL how to build a team that has fallen on hard times and he's proving it with his rebuilding job in DC.
Take note NFL. You don't build a team with DBs and Kickers and WRs like the Raiders like to do. It's refreshing to see a coach fix the real problems rather toy with stupid ideas like "shut down" corners.
The first thing Mike did was fix the QB position: Donovan McNabb and Rex Grossman. Both guys have gone to the Superbowl and I wouldn't be surprised if the Redskins drafted a kid also. McNabb is the starter and Grossman will play if McNabb doesn't do well. They still have Jason Campbell for trade bait and the have a young guy in Colt Brennan.
Mike added Larry Johnson and Willie Parker even though Clinton Portis is a good running back. Plus Mike signed Ryan Torain and I knew he'd do that. I was waiting for it. Torain's only played in one NFL game, but he looked good in his one half of play before he got injured. I wouldn't be surprised if Torain ends up the starter in Washington.
Mike also has PJ Hill, Anthony Alridge and Darrel Young on the roster and Mike will probably take a running back in the draft or have several free agents.
I'm sick of NFL teams not having enough RBs and teams thinking they only need to replace one guy.
As far as the Bills are concerned they need a QB and RBs and hopefully for the Bills fans no DBs.
Wow, you and Shanny have got it going! I think we're all sick of NFL teams not having enough running backs now! QB's and RB's! Damn it was right there all along. Defense, guys to block, Hell, Denver never had any of those......

Innocents = innocence
I never said I was a stud. I never said I am a stud. I am just a regular guy, like everyone else in the world. If she went out with him, that's fine. It'll let me learn who she really is.
Ben should say nothing, why does he have to answer to any of us? Would you rather he take the Tiger Woods approach? That doesn't work! The smartest thing he can do is shut up and let this fade away. It will fade away.
In 20 years if I have a daughter who gets plastered and is flirting with a man who is also drunk and decides it is in her best interest to go in to a bathroom with him, than that is her choice. She is 20 years old and I hope I would have raised her better than that. When is anyone going to account for their actions? When you drink alcohol you simply cannot make good judgements. Maybe this chick needs to chill out on the drinking. Plus, why didn't she go to a hospital? Where is the physical evidence? I'm not saying he is a Saint, but he could probably be a Pope or something. At least he's not getting it on with little boys, right?
Now that's a standard to strive for...not diddling boys. I hope to Hell you never have a daughter. This POS had his body guards block the door so the girls friends could not help her - while Pig-Ben had sex with a barely vertical drunk 20 year ols co-ed. He's a freaking predator who I believe thinks he did nothing wrong. POS!

Tom Modrak has never traded up in his history. He doesn't make the calls.
I think he'll be a major player tomorrow! If he's high on a player and advocates for them - pick someone else!

Assuming the Bills go OT in the first round, is everyone on board with Colt McCoy in round 2?
Nose Tacke

finding daylight behind the Bills offensive line.....that says it all. Fix the offensive line.
What are the odds Clausen would remain off the PUP list behind our present line?
-
I think this move would quiet down the "Doom & Gloomers" out there and would help sell tickets.
Only if we got Vick to go along with Pig-Ben. Then we would have a dog and dog-killer at QB.

SIGN BIG BEN PLEASE!!! BUFFALO IS A JOKE IN EVERYONE'S EYES AND IT'S NOT GOING TO CHANGE UNLESS WE START WINNING GAMES.
Caps are needed in this situation.
I just said this in another studid "lets sign a rapist" thread. Maybe we should also trade for Vick as well to fill in during the Pig-Ben supension. Russ can then do some great marketing with a "bring a co-ed or your dog to the stadium day."

I will continue to support threads that advocate for Bills trading for Ben Roethlisberger (however this scenario will never happen and Pittsburgh will NOT trade him).
He has not been convicted of anything (Duke rape case comes to mind). For Bills fans that have a moral code -- we already have ethically challenged players on our team and you don't seem to mind.
Okay, say you're "OK" with a guy who has a propensity of getting away with rape or near rape situations (I'm not!) The Steelers would let him try to rehab his name and rep if they thought he was capable. I suspect this guy, in his heart, thinks what he did is okay and what's the fuss. He's one strike away from being gone. Is that the guy to build the team around?
Now for the rest of us who have stronger opinions, I don't want a rapist as my QB.

Here it comes:
He's old
got nothing left
bad example in the clubhouse
blah blah blah
The JETS and the PATS improved themselves today....bottom line
makin moves makin moves
Umm,
He's older
Got a little left
But unless you think you're a Super Bowl contender, why let him have a spot a young player needs to develop for the future. Okay signing for the Jets, but it would have been a bad signing for the Bills.

Well the whole draft is such a crap shoot so its always going to be a guessing game to a certain extent. There have been can't miss guys who have been busts and people that would have been great players who had injuries kill their careers.
For every Brian Urlacher there's a Brian Bosworth.
-
This is the NFL Draft. Mission accomplished. Get the fan so excited about it and work on his starvation by dangling a cupcake over his head and watch him go.
Yup, and I'm chasing that damn cupcake big time right now!

Busts
Trent Williams
Jason Pierre Paul
Dan Williams
Taylor Mayes
Brandon Graham
Sam Bradford
Boom
Derrick Morgan
Brian Bulaga
Jimmy Clausen
Terrance Cody
Russel Okung
I could reverse those lists name for name and it would be just as credible. That said, I don't think Bradford will be a bust but agree with the rest of your list.

I guess my question is, why do these guys need to be so special. Take a guy like Lonnie Harvey, big guy 6'2' 340-345, pretty athletic. Why can't he just line up over the ball, move forward at the snap, clog up the gap, tie up the center and guard and let the linebacker make the tackle. As long he's got the size/ weight and can move fairly well, why would you need a top 10 pick to do that. It seem a 3-4 nose tackle has a very specific job to perform in a very limited amount of space. I would think these guys are a dime a dozen.
Really? Think of a 340 pound 6'3" guy squatting down close to the ground and firing into two 300 pound-plus OL and have the power and stamina to drive them backwards and keep them occupied so your LB's can make plays. Now do that 800 plus times a season. These guys are special and rare. Someone on this thread said a NT is the LT of the defense....he's dead right.

RD 1: Spiller
RD 2: Thomas
RD 2 (trade up): Tebow
.
Rd 1: NT (trade down)
Rd 2a: OT
Rd 2b: LB or QB
Rd 3: QB or best player standing
-
Terrible! A first, third and Lynch? Are you kidding me? Bradford's fragile and won't last a half a season behind our line. This is the year to draft big bodies and mean ass linemen.
-
We need to trade down. Bulaga and Clausen are reaches at 9
Easy to say but it takes two to deal. What Buddy seems to be doing is preparing for whatever scenario comes up and one of those is likely having to pick at 9. All things equal, I'd like to trade down as well.
-
What we need is a noob board.
PTR
We've seen worse on TSW from some with thousands of posts....not often but it happens.
-
I don't think Tebow goes in round 1. If you guys can get in him in 2 or 3, you'd be crazy not to.
If Buddy grabs Tebow at #9, if we trust what he has been saying, he thinks the guy can play from day one and start. I don't get the feeling that's the case. I'm beginning to believe he'll go defense first and/or trade down from #9. We need a NT and if he rates Dan Williams that highly, he'll have a two-fer. Grab the NT we need and keep him away from Miami.
-
The bottom line is that the dude has a history of suspected boorish behavior - at the least (see civil case in Vegas) and BR probably needs to be a model citizen from the commish point of view. Not sure, but locking underage drunk girls in a bathroom so you can get your rocks off really does not seem to be what the commish might have in mind.
Yup, at the end of the day, you can beat up the girl and blame her, and she has some liability. But she's 20 and intoxicated. He's a G'damn pro bowl QB who is prowling like a predator for such a victim. Disgusting. And for those who say if that were their daughter they would blame her as well...Really? What the Hell is wrong with you?
-
I could live with Williams at #9, he fill a big need.
Agreed. If we can't stop the run we don't have to worry about rushing the passer - and we cannot stop the run.
-
But I do think people are over-valuing the run stuffer and under-valuing the pass rusher,
The NFL is a passing league. NFL teams on average pass about 60% of the time. The top offensive teams are all passing teams. New Orleans, Indy, New England, San Diego, Minnesota, Green Bay, Arizona. Again, it's a passing league. As a defense, you'd be happy to be so strong against the pass that teams were relegated to running the ball against you.
I feel with the additions of Dwan Edwards and Andra Davis that the Bills will be able to "sell out" against the run on run downs and be reasonably effective in improving their run defense.
There's no clear answer but I have no problem with an elite pass rusher at #9.
If the NFL is a passing league, explain the NY Jets? They couldn't pass, everyone knew they were going to run the ball adn they still imposed their will and did so. In the NFL, you have to run and stop the run. We cannot stop the run or get off the field on third down. We need a wide body NT as well as a pass rusher. As it stands now, Maybin may be able to rush standing up but we have nobody to plug the middle and stop the run. If there is an elite rusher at #9, so be it, but it cannot come at the expense of starting the year in a new 3-4 with no real NT.
-
You have to find good players, not just players good enough to start given your existing roster. Wood and Levitre played ok for rookies. But they don't grade on a curve in the NFL. They were 2/5's of an offensive line that couldn't move the ball in the air or on the ground. They need to take a big step forward this year and continue to get better or we will be looking to replace them soon enough.
Umm, last I checked that albeit crap line still produced a 1,000 yard rusher. Those rooks also played with a different cast of charactors every week. Our interior line will be solid for years to come. Give credit where it's due - those were good picks.
-
Bills trade down after there player Bulaga is picked before them. They trade down with Houston who picks Spiller for there 1st and 2nd picks. Then the Bills draft.
1.(20) Charles Brown OT, USC
2.(41) Tim Tebow QB, Florida
2.(51) Cam Thomas NT North Carolina
3.(72) Ricky Sapp, DE/OLB, Clemson
4.(107) Ed Wang OT, Virginia Tech
5.(140) Riley Cooper, WR, Florida
6.(178) Clifton Geathers, DE, South Carolina
7th pick who knows?
Reverse picks 1 & 2 and you may be right. Although Brown wouldn't be my choice at LT.

Merry Draft Day My Friends!!!
