That's true,  but it's also somewhat a function of throwing more passes than most other teams.  Matt Stafford had a higher interception percentage than Josh Allen in both 2021 and 2022 (Allen was 17th and 24th, respectively).  Stafford led the league in total INTs in 2021.  They won the Super Bowl that year.

These days,   QBs are throwing so few interceptions that a few more than average is not necessarily the end of the world.

Tell yourself what you want. Josh has to own this. When he is frustrated by a defense that won't let him throw deep, he gets reckless and makes critical mistakes. He refuses to take what is given.  DCs know it and the Jets gave a master class in it last Monday.

  2. I am more concerned with our poor drafting in the early rounds. Having another 1st round pick not active on Monday underscores this. Too many whiffs on rounds 1-3 are hurting us. Beane's belief that JAGs on the OL  is just fine has us where we are  -- a good winning team that will never sniff the SB.

He certainly had the discipline and will on the 11 play scoring drive, the second 11 play scoring drive, the 9 play scoring drive, and then the next 9 play scoring drive. So he’s proved he can be patient and take what’s given, especially against a dominant defense that demands you have to be patient and take what’s given.

The maddening thing about Allen is why he gets away from it and insists on playing hero ball. Wish we had the answer.

And those drives could only barely answer for the lack of discipline on the four turnovers. The games on the line, fall on the fumble and cover up and not think an extra yard makes a damn bit of difference. On a key drive when you needed points, take the easy pass and don't rifle into tight coverage. It's football IQ and I think he just lacks it, especially when things get hairy. He has regressed under Dorsey. Josh listened to Daboll and was his best version under Daboll. Left to his own instincts he gets reckless. All the talk of being better and protecting the ball this year went crackerdogs with 4 turnovers the first time he got rattled. Josh needs hard coaching and it feels like he has gotten too big to listen.

Can you see the hope in that sentence? Allen plays the worst game of his career and yet we still force OT against perhaps the best defense we will see all year, in their house in front of a sold out frenzied crowd on opening night?

If it takes Allen playing his worst game for teams to beat us, I like our chances moving forward.

And for the other team to lose their HOF QB on the first series of the game.

    “Mediocre QB at best….”

Good lord some of these overreactions after a game.

Josh allen voted a top 10 player in this league by the players, but no you’re right…

Hes around the 17-22nd best QB in this league 🙄

Those are stupid statements, but Josh has proven time and again that when he is frustrated by 2 high safety or solid D, he has no discipline or the will to take what the D gives. He gets reckless -- thinks he can do it himself. Now he's picked up where he left off last year -- a turnover machine. He has no sense for situational football. 3rd and 2 with a TE open five yards away he rifles it way downfield into tight coverage. Just move the damn chains in a tight game Josh, but no. He goes into reckless mode. I can't hear his post game "I need to do a better job of protecting the ball" anymore. Be the Josh we saw last year against the Rams and stop the goddamn hero ball. DCs are taking away your favorite plays Josh and the downfield opportunities won't open back up until you discipline yourself with the short game. It's time to mature.

You are in the wrong thread. The overreaction thread is over there.

Allen had a bad game against a good defense, that's clear. The 1st INT was basically a punt. Wish it was a completion, but down it at the 3 yard line, fine. 2nd INT is like wtf are you thinking. 3rd INT is all davis not running good routes and telegraphed his route easily. Fumble, no excuse. Catch the damn snap.

You are in la la land. That loss is on Josh. He simply cannot accept the notion of moving the chains at crítical points in the game. Sorry, he literally gave that game away.

  7. 3rd and 2 and he goes long. Same crap as last year. An unwillingness to take what's given. Zero situational football. Hero ball and 4 turnovers. 3 and out in OT. Welcome to your 3rd place Buffalo Bills. Likely need to get use to it. Maybe this year Beane will begin to value a real OLine.
