  1. Peter King nails this one. Shanny has the stature that would allow Schwartz to stay on as DC without destroying his pride. And I like the total offense reboot King suggests. Let's face facts: when an offense is as bad as ours was this year, there's no such thing as a "core to build around" or an untouchable player. Check what's happened to excellent defenses in recent NFL history -- they have about a 2-3 year run in them before age, free agency, injuries, and other factors bring an inevitable decline. We have the D right now, we might not after letting a young QB (and a young coach) develop for a couple years. The future is now! Go grab it.

This. Would stay solid on Defense and improve on offense.

Zone scheme for O-line would also be nice

  2. MSU fan here, never understood the hype with Kirk in the NFL. Dude is a great human being and leader but he just made way to many boneheaded moves when it mattered in college and does the same thing in the NFL. He also doesn't have NFL arm-strength as far as I am concerned.

Connor Cook on the other hand... If he can figure out how to handle pressure up the middle better he's gonna be a stud.

  3. I for once think this board is being entirely rational on this topic.

CAN this Bills beat the Broncos? Yes.

However over the last couple of years they have had an insanely difficult time in beating elite QB's (Would have to go back to Brady in 2011 by my definition).

Do I think this Defense is good? Absolutely but so is Denver's (although I think ours is better with far more depth).

Like everyone said this game comes down to Orton & the running game getting established. If Hackett can call the game of his life & Orton play his best game of the season we can and most likely will win this game, if he doesn't we will lose. Our defense is good enough to overcompensate for bad teams (see Jets & Browns) but not nearly good enough to overcompensate for the poor offensive play vs solid-good teams (Pats, Chiefs, even the last Dolphins game).

Basically the defense can only sustain themselves for so long with the offense stuck in neutral and vs. Denver it just can't happen. You can't punt 4 straight times in this game or we WILL lose. 3-outs can't happen so Hackett needs to plan with a game long battle plan of how to wear down Denver's defense while also keeping our D rested. Even if it means getting to the Denver 40 & pinning them deep thats okay but we can't have the same crap we have the last month. It just can't happen.

  4. I usually am pretty good at getting over losses, yesterday was different. This was one of those few times that playoffs wasn't that big of a hope and a prayer if they could've just won that game which was clearly in grasp. If they would have handily beat us, fine. We were the better team, and we gave it away.

Just still unreal for me to think about.

  5. The Bills record should be 7 - 2. When you give away games like they did today and against Houston, one has every right to vent. The problem is, after all these years of serious venting, there's not much breath left for the next game's vent.

If you wanna play that game we absolutely should have lost the lions game. So maybe 6-3. This game hurt more than most for me as well. Just unacceptable.

  6. I've been a silent supporter of Hackett hoping he would get more agressive with his play calling but the constant run run pass punt is getting ridiculous.

You mean that its not obvious that its going to be run up the middle, run up the middle, pass every 3 plays?

  7. i don't think schwartz is getting a head job for awhile. He had great talent in detroit and could never get the job done and have them play consistently. He may get an interview or two but I think people just have Pettine fresh in their minds.

If we just fire hackett and bring in a proven O-Cord I will be more than satisfied. Also a new O-Line coach.

  8. We as fans and especially the team can't get ahead of ourselves (which we always do). Look at the last 7 games of last season and how bad we did. You never know what can happen in the NFL and thats why it is so damn exciting.

One game at a time with this one having obvious importance. Next week we will be saying how huge the Minnesota game is and so on. If we take it one game at a time we will be in good shape.
