[Astro-Notes: July 31 Practice]

I went today as well.

 

Just a couple things real quick

• Woods dropped a couple of easy balls that absolutely shouldnt of been dropped, he is also much smaller then I thought in person but he also made a few plays.
  
• Manuel looked decent, they started throwing the house at him today and it is actually incredible watching Pettines defense because it is just all attack all the time.
  
• Gilmore is a stud, this isnt just Bills fan bias when you watch him you know you are watching one of the best players at his position bar none, and he was still working on his hands after practice.
  
• Dareus got all one reps today so that thing early in the week with everyone flipping out was because he was sick.
  
• I was in the VIP tent after practice with just 4 of my friends and Kiko stopped by and talked to us for about 15 minutes, he is absolutely hilarious and was actually really a cool guy. Talked about his High-school and how trent was there and he just looked absolutely exhausted but hes a worker. In his words he just said "play, film, eat, sleep"

everyone just needs to chill out. Who cares it really is a non story Im not going to sit here and laud Marone or laud Wawrow because it has nothing to do with what I care about. For the fans who really care about the team and have to work we want to know what is happening in training camp, not whether or not Mario can put his jock on.

[Should we be concerned about Dareus?]

are people honestly serious? Chill sure we couldve had A.J Green or Peterson (I really wanted Green that year but still was very understanding and still am of the Dareus pick) but its only his 3rd year. He will be fine, he may not be this incredible force but even when he didnt play well he was still alright, he was playing closer to normal close to the end of the season there isnt anything to worry about there.

I think this is going to be a weird transition year but hopefully manuel finally shows the stuff and keeps us in games we weren't in before. The only rough lost was levitre and I guess potentially Byrd. I really liked our draft class though this year and think the additions more than make up for the subtractions. Just gonna have to wait and see.

I dont love Cromartie but it really is great to see that, good for him. He has about 10 mistakes but hes still young enough to make up for it.

I think everyone including myself is pretty overly optimistic but that being said it is exciting to finally get some young guys in here and have a chance to really do something special.

Honestly whenever I watch film of Patterson, Hunter, and Rogers it really makes me question why in the hell Bray didnt get drafted, he is raw but damn the ball explodes out of his hands.

I guess it would be best to know if Goodwin's lack of production was the result of being targeted a lot and dropping a lot of passes, a lack of utilization, or the inability of his QB to get him the ball. Going off one Combine pass isn't exactly much.

 

everywhere I read pointed to Mack Brown just not utilizing his talent. As opposed to Graham, he was supposed to be drafted in the 3rd round.

Really would be pretty pissed if this was how it shook down, especially since I dont want barkley and woods although I like him is a slot receiver and they want to move stevie to the slot.

Great post OP, I guess right now I am at the point where if Geno Is there you take him. I dont know how good he will be etc, but if you think he has over a 50% chance of being THE guy long term you take him and never look back, if not things get interesting and I just personally dont see the value there unless maybe you take lane johnson and then move glenn to G. Jarvis Jones is supposedly in for quite the fall so i dont think he is included with the top prospects anymore. So if Geno and Lane arent there I think you try to move down to atleast the teens and try to pick up maybe a 2 or even 3 and then grab cordarelle patterson or allen and then get your qb in the 2nd.

If you think hes the guy, you do whatever it takes to land him. QB is the most important position bar none its time we actually do something that can set us up for the next 10 years.

I just want to get some positions figured out in free agency then take a big swing on a qb with the best chance to be a good pro and hope it works out.
