  1. I cant believe Ralph didnt get this done a week ago. Our FO sucks and never does anything quick enough to get better!

    :lol::worthy::lol:

I don't really get a LB coach being an assistant coach. It's like being a project manager at a job, having a VP for a boss but the project manager is also the special assistant to the CEO. It undermineds the VP. Not saying Edwards is the guy, but if that's going to be DW's role, then just get rid of Edwards. Sounds like it's going to be confusing for everyone. I like bringing on someone with experience, but this is just weird (I get it, you almost have to give that title to DW if he's going to join, but still...)

Wanny's job title is irrelevant. It's spelled M - E - N - T - O - R. There's no sense in bringing him here (or in him taking the job) unless he'll have a guiding hand in all things defensive. They'll work out the details, but whether he's calling defensive forms/plays etc. on a play by play basis borders on irrelevant.

Here we go baby!! Wanny signs on, Merriman signs on and opens up the lines of communication with other potential FA's, #3 overall pick soon to be on board....slowly the Bills are creeping back into relevance!

    per Tim Graham:

Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey's defensive coaching staff has gotten a lot better.

FoxSports.com senior writer Alex Marvez reports Dave Wannstedt will join Gailey's staff as assistant head coach and inside linebackers assistant.

The move is an offseason victory for the Bills, an organization that struggled to attract top free agents because they haven't reached the playoffs in a decade. Wannstedt becomes the biggest name to join the Bills as an assistant coach since future Hall of Famer Dick LeBeau served on Gregg Williams' defensive staff in 2003 or since Sam Wyche was quarterbacks coach under Mike Mularkey in 2004.

It will be interesting to see how big a voice Wannstedt has on defensive game planning.

Is that TG saying sumpin nice bout da Bills?

Another way to look at this is, it could be the best thing to happen to Edwards.

  2. No doubt Newton can sling it. He has a great arm and was very accurate given the offensive system he was in. But poeple aren't calling him a running quarterback just because he's black. He had 20 rushing TDs to go along with his 30 passing. He attempted 280 passes...and 264 rushes. Pretty even split.

That's why some highlight his running ability as a QB. Not because of his race.

  3. If VY gets his head screwed on straight he'll be a fine QB. I know that's a big IF, but at least young is a known quantity, unlike Newton.

What we know about VY is worse than what we don't know about Newton.

The real IF is: IF the FO is smart enough to stay away from both these high-risk, no-net maneuvers!!

  4. Can't root for Ben R., so the Steelers are out.

Can't root for the J-E-S-T, because, well, because it's the Jets. 'nuff said. :wallbash:

So, it's either the Bears or the Packers. Like some of the Bears - live next door to one of them - but rooting for schizophrenic-Cutler would be inviting an aneurism. (Plus I had to sit through that 40 - 7 drubbing a few years ago . . .) <_<

Rogers is pretty easy to root for, so -- GO Packers!

  5. Forget the teams they play on. Take them both and pick a middle of the road team that just missed the playoffs. Does either one of them take that team and make it better enough to get over the hump and into the dance? In that scenario, I'll take the smart guy. Not that Sanchez hasn't done what he needs to do, but neutral playing situation goes to the guy with quicker eyes and brain -- maybe even quicker feet and release.

Fitz over Sanchez, but not by much.

  6. Not a fan of tweets like CJs -- especially coming from a kid who hasn't really made his mark yet. No one on this Bills team should be spouting off just yet. But it's unfair to compare CJS to DW who has a record of useless tweetages.

and, please, don't stir the Tebow pot! That boat sailed and it aint comin back -- Thank goodness!

  7. Guy's a TE.

Maybe. An athletic TE is certainly a Bills need. What makes us think he can catch?

I voted for grab him if he falls to us in the 2nd, but I would also be ok with it if we traded back and loaded up on draft picks and took him later in the first. I am not sold on him, in fact, the only reason I find him even intriguing is because of Chans track record with QB's, especially mobile QB's.

    Maybe.

    please no. He's not good.

    Not this.

He's an interesting proposition for the Bills as he is oddly the best solution to give Fitzpatrick the reigns for 2-3 more years while getting Newton up to speed on the pro game. That said, with all of our needs, I would not touch him until after we grab a solid defensive contributor - 2nd round would be good value.

    Maybe.

Not sure how the Bills would choose to use him, but he's a versatile athlete and a winner. Don't like him any higher than our 2nd - not the right guy to trade up for unless FO sees him as the future at QB. I think the more obvious choices are big burly men in rounds 1 through 7!!!!

  8. Yeah i'm a science guy, so the simplest explanation to me is to wonder why, if the saints felt so spurned, did they wait until now to leak the story? Their timing is extremely fishy seeing how the guy they supposedly would have given anything for (yet never actually made a real offer) just steamrolled their asses out of the playoffs.

Seems like sour grapes by everyone involved.

    10 pages of this?? Really?

The Saints should have won this game. Of course, they want to change the topic! There's a thousand reasons to question the Bills FO; this isn't one of them. Let's feel bad when we lose, not when the Aints lose!!

    :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

  9. NOOOOOOOOO, but thanks to the writer for perpetuating the myth that we suck so bad we can be improved by the likes of Vince Young.

Playing QB is about soooooo much more than raw athletic talent. VY might offer some of that, but he doesn't offer anything else that an up-and-coming team needs to keep improving. He doesn't offer leadership, maturity, stability, community skills, communication skills, student skills, etc.

He would not make the position better. He would not make the team better.

  10. - Panthers.....everyone thinks that the panthers will take luck and maybe they will....but they have so many other needs on that team and they especially need defensive help. I could see them taking Bowers with that number 1 pick since they drafted Clausen last year. This actually could happen.

    - Denver.....Its the Tim Tebow show in Denver. They have their QB and they are not going to send him back to the wildcat he looked too good towards the end of the season for that. Once again....Luck IS a consideration here but it really does not make sense because they took a 1st round QB last year who is showing potential to play well and lead the team. They also need defensive help here.

    - Buffalo.....is is why you have a crappy season like this.....so that you have blue chip choices at your spot.

Buffalo has a chance to get luck without even having to trade anything. And if he is selected there is still blue chip defensive help on the board at the 3rd pick....not to mention a possibility of trading down....still getting a good defensive player or Cam Newton..and gaining additional good players....

Dont do anything.....just wait till your pick comes up and see what has transpired.

There's a Cincy fan thread that travels this same path. Buffalo has too many needs. Buffalo has Fitz. Buffalo will pass on this once in a generation talent . . .

  11. The ViQueens are punishing Brett for years of arse whippings.

The ViQueens are taking the last few games of the season to try to get Brett killed on the football field.

    Seems pretty obvious to me.

It's the whole viking funeral and battle code thing.

It's expected a Valkyrie will come down at the final whistle of the the final game and carrry Brett off to Valhalla --or whatever the name of that little fishing hole of his is . . .

  12. lil D's big brother??

Pretty passionate defense of Athletes getting free rides to colleges that cost Students tens of thousands of dollars.

I'm not sure that I even disagree with your point, but your post seems pretty angst-ridden over one of the gentler names he's been called today . . .

Lot's of talented students don't get to go to college. That seems a bit unfair when you see athletes act as if they didn't benefit from going.

Not sure if it's fair to think Donte, or any other athlete, unfairly took someone else's spot, but . . .

  13. Its called social networking. It's goal is to increase one's visibility to prospective fans and casual on-lookers. This is extremely important to professionals with a short career span.

And regarding what one is having for dinner, I find it hypocritical to bash on this because I guarantee 10 out of 10 people would applaud Arthur Moats if he tweeted "Just got back from Duff's, those wings are awesome!!" But because it's Donte, people will bash him for anything.

I think you using the word maturity is a bit off as well. It might be stupid in your opinion, but questioning one's maturity because they post personal things on Twitter is off base. Just remember, you get to choose who you want to follow.

If Donte gave his personal time and tweetability to boost the local economy and kick some juice to local places, he'd get the positive response you're talking about. This thread is about his use of Twitter for self-serving purposes. More power to him when he uses tech to boost his brand, but there's always blow-back.

I'm sure we can dig up "good" Donte tweets, but that's not the point at the moment. No one has accused DW of hurting dogs, just badly playing his hand in public.
