  1. Heh, cheers to the front office for making the "better bad choice". You guys rock. I still disagree though. Williams has no value. McKinnie is a starter. Whether he's a trouble maker or not he is worthy of being on the field and for an offensive line, by the way, that is considered by many to be the best in the league. Even if he's a trouble maker McKinnie has given the Vikings more than Williams could ever give the Bills.
  2. Norwood was a good kicker from 45 or closer, but I will remind you that he missed an after point the week before Superbowl XXV too, hence the weird 51-3 score. Then came the SB, which totally shot his confidence. He had a miserable following season and that was the end of him. That SB was the 1990 season, so since my question pertains to the early '90s we shouldn't be counting Norwood's earlier years, which were solid. Lindell would be better than a broken Norwood. And Christie is better than both.
  3. He eventually did...Ruben Brown. Maybe. Very similar abilities, but Bailey proved for a long time that he could stay healthy...something Poz has yet to do.
  4. We went from John Kidd (decent) to Rick Tuten (eh) to Chris Mohr (overrated because "he knows the winds at Rich"). Moorman is better than all of 'em. Regarding Lindell versus Norwood, I'd say they're both the same in terms of "clutch". I wouldn't want either of 'em if the game is on the line. But Lindell has a stronger leg. We never even woulda bothered putting Norwood out on the field for a 50+ fieldgoal attempt. Christie, on the other hand, had a solid leg AND accuracy. We stole him from Sam Wyche and the Bucs, for those of you that don't remember the soap opera there.
  5. Just curious for opinions. Here is mine. Moorman would've started over Tuten or any other punter we had during that stretch. Lindell would've started over Norwood but not Christie. Stroud would've started over Wright. I think McGee would've started over Odomes. Schobel would've started over Seals...and perhaps even Hansen. That's it. There are some borderline ones. Maybe Byrd would've gotten the nod over Kelso but I bet not, since the coaches loved having the brainy Kelso out on the field. Maybe Lee Evans would've started over Beebe in a 3-WR set. Any others? Agree, disagree?
  6. McKinnie has had a good career but he is overrated by being considered a pro-bowler. Know who that sounds like? Ruben Brown. I'd take the career McKinnie has had over the train wreck of a situation we've had at LT for the past decade.
  7. The Bills deserve to be beaten up for drafting Mike Williams whether or not McKinnie even exists. The Williams pick was a bad pick regardless.
  8. I love OJ's run about 2 minutes into the vid against the Steelers...he ran past about 5 future hall-of-famers right there.

  10. RBs are a dime a dozen. Seriously. It's about the last position you should worry about. It is so rare that 'special' running backs enter the NFL, and even when they do their careers don't last long. Look at the Saints. They invest a bigtime pick to get Bush, but who ends up being their feature back? Some nobody named Pierre Thomas. There are a lot of Fred Jacksons out there. Find yourself a Fred Jackson and give him the best offensive line in the league. Period.
  11. Aren't we all forgetting Dusty Ziegler?
  12. Agreed on Kemp. I was thinking about mentioning him when I mentioned Mike Stratton.
  13. pound for pound: Steve Tasker - nobody ever played their position better than he did statistically: Bruce Smith - all-time sack leader who was so disruptive OCs had to gameplan around him AFL honorable mention - Mike Stratton, who's hit heard 'round the world helped turn the tides against San Diego and bring Buffalo an AFL championship. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9...klesLincoln.jpg ...I give extra credit to players that help bring Buffalo a championship. :-)
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe5gIxBVrXM ^We knew exactly what he'd be when we drafted him...a project with a lot of upside and some questions about durability. What have we done? We've thrown him to the wolves and given him a poor offensive line. In other words, we set him up to fail. With good offensive coaching and REAL investment in the offensive line (i.e. not letting a pro-bowl LT go) I still think Trent can be a good QB in time.
  15. I didn't have a chance to read this until now. I think it's brilliantly written. Accountability is a big word.
  16. I think it has less to do with whether we feel the QBs have been "crappy" and more to do with feeling like we haven't put our QBs in a position to succeed. It's hard to know if our QBs are crappy because they rarely have a good offensive line to play behind, a competent offensive coordinator, and good receivers all at the same time. I'm convinced that we could make Carson Palmer look like David Klingler with the offense we had this past season.
  17. Exactly right. I agree, this most recent piece was a bit on the lame side, as it is regurgitated information that we have seen time and again on message boards, not to mention you can play that game with every team. But for the most part Sully is right on.
  18. Now you're just rationalizing. Sully calls it like it is. I think he's a great writer.
  19. 44. Grossman and Pennington were the two obvious ones I brainfarted on. I forgott Everett was drafted by the Oilers. I also spaced out on Eason and Blackledge. Man, some of those guys are very forgettable, like McGuire, Mirer, and Klingler.
  20. Guys, the goal is to win a championship. Sully simply points out the flaws in the team that keep them from achieving this goal. He did so back when we DID have good (but not championship) teams and he is doing it now. The Bills are making it easy for him, quite frankly. I think he's a good, sarcastic writer. He writes what I'm feeling most of the time. I don't understand why so many of you despise the guy when he's just pointing out the same things we're saying on this board, but in a professionally written newspaper piece.
  21. I'm not convinced Trent can't read a defense. I think early in his career, with better protection, he showed he could grow to be a decent NFL QB. Then two things happened. 1) we started letting our line deteriorate, and 2) he got shellshocked by some hard hits. He hasn't looked the same since. But given a good offensive coaching staff and system, with a good offensive line, I think trent can be okay...not elite...but okay in the NFL.
  22. I don't remember the last time Bills nation agreed so much on something.
  23. Did you completely miss the Levy as GM era?
  24. What you guys aren't accounting for is that Favre has also COMPLETED that pass more than any other QB in history, because he has a cannon of an arm and takes shots. You get the bad with the good. It was a bad gamble. It was typical Brett Favre. I'm not excusing the throw, but if anyone can make it, Favre can. And there have been FAR worse interceptions throughout history.
