  1. Anyone who won four superbowls in a row would be a contender for the greatest qb of all time. If Trent Dilfer won three more superbowls HE would be in the running for the greatest quarterback of all time. If Eli Manning wins four more superbowls HE will be in the running for the best qb of all time. If CJ Spiller gets 2000 yards per season for the next four years will he be the greatest running back of all time? Kelly was a great qb (hall of fame) and he certainly is in the running for one of the top ten of all time, but not the greatest. That is why I've got Otto Graham as the greatest year in and year out and especially in big games great.

  2. Lynch is a bull and is the main reason the Seahawks are where they are today. We gave him up and gave up on him and failed to utilize his talents fully. We let other players go who were essential to becoming a playoff team. We seem to be getting better in free agency and trades and in the draft, and we hopefully will get better in keeping very good players on the Bills through the free agency periods. We are not in the same category as the Broncos or Seahawks. Hell..we aren't even in the playoffs!!! Good is not "one or two players away" or "if we had only won a few more games". Good is winning a few more games. We haven't done that. Good will be visible after our eighth win next season. Getting good is putting together the personnel, the coaching staff, the game plans and the practice and execution to win games. We aren't sh#t until we start winning. Get 'er done.

  3. As long as I can remember the middle of the field has been a very dangerous place for pretty much every receiver and d-back. Lots of picking and chipping that is part of the game and if you are an "over the middle" kind of guy (Andre Reed) you are going to get hit. I'm not seeing Welker as an assassin and I imagine there are a real group of defensive backs and linebackers who have a heyday in the middle of the field. Belichik is just a little nutty if he thinks the Welker play was all that out of line.

  4. This is a coincidence. I was about to come here and ask, "Are the Bills closer to being the Seahawks or Broncos?" My position was that we're getting to Seahawks territory, and I looked on PFF Signature Stats for some numbers.

Pass Offense: Seahawks 6th, Bills second to last.

Pass Blocking: Seahawks 9th from last, Bills 12th.

Rush Offense: Seahawks 2nd, Bills fifth to last.

Run Blocking: Seahawks 10th from last, Bills 8th from last.

Okay, offense so not so much, but the defenses are closer:

    Overall D: Seahawks 1st, Bills 4th.

Run Defense: Seahawks 6th, Bills 4th.

    Pass Rush: : Seahawks 1st, Bills 8th.

    Pass Cover: : Seahawks 1st, Bills 5th.

Special Teams: Seahawks 6th, Bills 2nd worst.

All Right; I laughed. :w00t: I guess we really aren't getting close to the Seahawks, but I get a sense we are improving. Keep the better players, including Byrd, sign a couple of free agents, and have a good draft and we are going to be in contention.

  5. Archie Manning was the best qb I ever saw on consistently horrible teams. Every play was a mad dash of 3 or 4 guys chasing him.

I nevefr saw Graham or Baugh live, but I think I'd have to rate Peyton as a quarterback over Archie, although Archie was a very good qb. Actually I'd probably rate Eli closer to Archie than Peyton. The case can be made, regrettably, for Brady over Peyton, but I'm not going to make it because I hate the Patriots.

  6. Why do Bills fans continue to debate about Johnny Manziel possibly falling to the Bills #9 spot? It's an epic fail of a debate because there is literally no chance of that happening. He's going to the Texans at #1 or to the next QB starved team that trades up to the Rams spot at #2. There's basically about 6 teams ahead of the Bills spot that needs a QB like Johnny Manziel. Why in the world is there STILL a debate going on about the Bills having the choice to take Johnny Manziel?

Agreed. I'd love to get Manziel but can't see him getting to nine. As to what the bills haven't got and need badly...tight end, outside linebacker and guard. Trading back and getting an extra pick and we can address this problem. Is EJ the future? He gets hurt and can't play a lot, and if that doesn't change soon he sure won't be...but I'll give him a second year to justify his position.

  7. Beating New England is a great leap forward IMHOP. Nice to go into the off season with a few divisional wins under our belt. I'm not seeing that the draft position is going to be all that critical. There are TE's, OT's and OLB's in the top twenty positions and we should be able to come out with a stud starter at one of the three positions.

  8. I agree that Marrone gets a mulligan this year and the team is in no shape to play games in the upcoming draft. They still need contributors and solid ones at that. Too early to say how it might go but they need TE and LB an OG help badly. I Could see them picking in that sequence. If they do something a little off the ranch I could see them taking a CB early. The Nickel is far from resolved and the injuries this year showed some thinness at the position.

The draft can't be sorted out until FA is over the LB or LG position may be resolved this way.

I agree our needs are for an OG and TE more than an OT or perhaps LB, but where we are picking there are going to be three blue chip OT's and at least two blue chip LB's. Not to mention Clowney which would be a tough decision if he should still be on the board. We need to start the season with two quality OT's. . While Glenn has performed well, we need to shore up the line and we can get a good solid RT to start the season. The TE's will be there in round 2 and the OG's in round 3 and later.
