  1. So what your saying is you love the Buffalo Bills, but selling your soul to make them better is not an option, come on...

Seriously, I'm not a big fan of Michael Vick's QB capabilities, but I've always enjoyed watching Vick run and its possible he's the best all around athlete that ever stepped onto the Football field. Think about it, Vick runs like Barry Sanders and he can throw with both arms better than half the QB's in the NFL throw with one arm. Screw up one of Vicks arms in a game and he still might kick your ass with his other throwing arm. :w00t:

I know Marshawn is cheering this idea. He needs a new career in LA when he gets kicked off the Bills eventually, LOL.

Seriously, maybe, just maybe Vick actually teaches Lynch to growup quickly or he may be heading to jail himself.

I never liked Vick as a QB, very inaccurate as a thrower. If the Bills do it, I will continue to watch an hope Kelly and the older ex Bills make sure Vick understands what it takes to be a Buffalo Bill.

  2. UPDATE...UNOFFICIAL.....

    Bruce - 28 votes

    O.J.- 25 votes

    Kelly- 15 votes

    Thurman- 5 votes

At least according to these articles.....and for discussion purposes only.....

O.J. is ranked the 2nd best RB in NFL history (behind jim brown):

    http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/6907909//

Bruce is ranked the 2nd best DE in NFL history (behind Reggie White):

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/3...fl_history.html

Kelly would not make the top ten in NFL history.....i put him around 15th best.

Thurman is judged against "pure" runners....and does not get the credit he desrves for his receiving all-purpose yards.

We are not comparing our guys to the rest of the league. Simply asked who was the best Bills player ever? No other QB that played for the Bills could do what Kelly did, period. Thurman, Cribbs, OJ all are interchangeable for success. The only other player that would be hard to change would be Bruce. Schobel, Ben Williams, McDole are very good but not in the same class. My vote remains with Kelly, he was just that much better than Ferg, Kemp or Lamonica. It is great that we as fans have seen so many great players that we can sit here and argue this. What do Detroit fans do?

  3. MVP of the Bills: Jim Kelly ( Nobody changed the face of the Bills more than Jim )

Best Stat guy: OJ ( 2000 yard season ), Honorable mention: BRRRRUUUUCCCEEE!!!!!

Best pure athlete: Cookie Gilcrest ( Just a pure monster )

    Most liked: Thurman

It has been 14 years and we still have noone to replace Jim Kelly.

We have had plenty of very good running back, Fred Jackson could be the best since Thurman.

We have never seen as pure a football player than Cookie, he could play all 3, Defense, Offense, Special Teams

We all love workhorses and Thurman fit Buffalo perfectly, even his crazy sense of humor.

  4. I had to read this twice...

Quote: "In 1971 Mitchell became the first African-American to play football for the Crimson Tide"

That's amazing. It's hard to believe this is within my lifetime! We're talking a mere 12 years before Jim Kelly was drafted.

If it said "1951" it would have been more believeable, but "1971" ?!?!?

This man has done alot. Suprised he hasn't ran his own show.

  5. He's DL/Asst Head Coach. So, unless they wanted to give up all that defensive football knowledge, we'd have had to offer him the HC position for them not to block the move.

April was Buffalo's Assistant Head Coach but didn't get the interm job. DC position is a step up for John Mitchell and he knows Gailey well. If the position of DC is offered for a interview he will change his plans for retirement I bet. This man loves football from his Bio. This would finish his career and add some respect in the media for the things he has accomplished. He isn't well known right now and his story would be told if he got some lime light. How many active coaches were prodegies of Bear Bryant. Amazing story!!!!!

  6. I thought it was Daryll Porter. On kickoffs, I was the 2nd guy from the sideline. Your only job is to stay outside the hash and watch for reverses or any trick plays. That's all you're supposed to do. It is super boring but the second you don't do your job, well then you have a Music City illegal Forward pass.

So I have no idea why anyone would be mad at Dehaven for a player not doing his job. i'd take him back in a heartbeat.

He got fired as the scape goat for that play which forced Ronnie to be hired which forced Wade to be fired. Which caused the next ten years of alot of garbage hirings being fired. Whew!!!!

  7. Anyone who blames the loss yesterday on Favre's INT Is stupid. The 2 fumbles in the red zone. The poor pass protection. The crappy calls in OT. The Special teams giving up a good return in OT. The 12 men on the field problem.

This quote is more the truth.

I nominate the Vikings offensive line for poor blocking. Favre got beat up and the line didn't seem to adjust.

Also after the interception, wasn't the game tied. It just forced OT. I blame the "heads" call for the loss, Special Teams, Coaching or the Defense. Favre was on the sideline hurt in OT. Very strange way to look at Favres intercepton as the reason they lost. It led to no direct score for the other team. Wasted opportunity, yes. Favre gets a pass on that one for playing with guts all game.

  8. Bruce Dehaven is a great SP coach, and I would love to see him back in Buffalo. But forget it. Unless he coached with Chan some time during his career, Gailey won't be calling on him. Same for Rusty. It's the Buddy and Chan show for better or worse, and Chan obviously has no intention of bringing in any "name" coaches he has not coached with in the past.

Nix has ties, they were together on the Bills. I am sure Buddy has brought his name up.

  9. Bruce got let go by Seatle Seahawks with the Pete C. hire. Could Bills fans forgive him for the Tennesse playoff loss. Maybe this could bridge the 10 years and make everything OK again. I hope Gailey is at least looking at this. Also hope we can bring back Rusty Jones.

  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Mitchell_(football_coach)

Assitant head coach of the Steelers/defensive line coach, meet John Mitchell. He has been taught by the best. He has tons of experience and likes the 3-4. Guys like Gray and Fewel succeeded as first time coordinators for us. Gailey knows him well. It should be a great fit and like Gailey said, he is not a name that pops right out at you. Seems like a fit!

  11. LT freeagent (Mat Light)

    LG Incognito

    C Wood

    RG Butler

    RT Leivtre

Hargartner first OG/C in when hurt, he'll be disapointed but Woods is a pure Center. Bills were OK with Hargartner at LG when they signed him also if Incognito doesn't fit in our plans. Butler is a big (330lbs) powerful RG guard, never should have switched to tackle, feet are to slow. Levitre has quick feet (Tackles are much more athletic and around 300lbs the past couple years because the 3-4 is back and small DE/LB are in). We have alot of depth on the line now thanks to all the injuries. Some of those guys we picked up were pretty good since they didn't go through a camp with us and are still very young; Meredith, Ramsey, Scott. One or two of them have a shot at sticking. Bye to Gaddis and Chambers

    1st Pick McClain/OLB

    2nd DT/Nose/DE best available

    3rd MLB need 2 in 3-4

    4th best available QB/RB/WR

We are going to a 3-4 and need linebackers. Bell is our future LT, needs maturing (more muscle). Pickup a few lineman that are projects/backups from 5th round down. Veteran QB ( I like Carr-big arm - athletic ) found in freeagency or trade (McNabb). Brohm is our project for now. Fitzgerald is our backup. Bye Trentative! Need to find a RB in draft or freeagent, trade Lynch.

  12. My commitment to the team keeps me attached to the city I grew up with, the food and people I love and the team that I have supported for 25 years. Imagine how sweet it will be, whether it is this year, next year or in ten years when we 'DO' win the Big one? ----To be able to stay you stood by during some of the most bitter losses, worst defeats, poorest coaching and horrible drafts, a Championship season with a Superbowl victory will only be that much better.

    Go Bills!

That was well said and basically what most Bills fans are about.

I do think we have a right to critize if it is constructive. Part of the fun is not agreeing with choices and stating how our ideas are better. If every team did everything right we would be playing TIC TAC TOE. I never seen a blog over playing TIC TAC TOE.

Again great writing and I think it brought a tear to my eyes. Sometimes we need to remember how wide our fan base really is. Bills fans are everywhere!

  13. Given Chan Gailey has stated he was going to be the OC as well as head coach, should he bring back AVP as offensive assistant/QB coach?

    Thoughts?

Unless Gailey has a college coach in mind already, that is a logical choice. This offense was not Alex's and maybe Alex learns enough to be groomed to be a true OC in the future. There were some good offensive outputs by Alex's play calling this past year.

I also think Lester will be back and maybe Sanders. I wish April was still around also.

    GO BILLS, draft well please!!!!!!!

  14. Jim Harbaugh was never offered the Bills HC job, Bills may have requested interview and may have been turned down, big difference! Who really cares. Chan Gailey is more accomplished as a OC and college head coach. Out of the 2, Chan has a winning NFL record to look at.

Brian Schottenheimer and other coordinators probably turned down the Bills request for interviews but at least 20-30 guys requested interviews but were turned down by the Bills. Marty wanted the job also, maybe that is why Brian said no so he wouldn't be taking the chance away from his Dad.

Chan Gailey is a excellent OC, he has never been 30, 31st or 32nd in offensive scoring or ratings. The Bills offense will get better next year, big supporter for the running game. Fits the Bills strengths well.

Chan Gailey has a nice personality, he engaged the reporters. He acted like he really liked coaching and not to rigid with schemes. He uses his hands well, I think the media will like him.

He will make Maybin become a player by end of camp or cut him. He believes players drafted have one year reprieve but must show they can become Pro's by second year ( Most players he said, you only have 4-5 years with ).

We have found a good GM, fans don't pick coaches, GM's do. We should sit back and watch. there is always time to scream later " I told you so" if Nix was wrong.

Ralph and Brandon not being at the introduction of the head coach proves Wilson is finely done making decsions for this team. This is Nix's team and Nix's HC choice.

I think freeagency and the draft will hold few suprises, these men will pick players that have played well in high school and college for at least 3-4 years experience in both. They want guys that are durable and have played alot of football.

Former HC's don't give glowing reccomendations to coordinators, especially if they are in the media right now. Their reputations are at stake. Cowher was doing back flips Gailey got this job, maybe because it gets his name away from being associated to the job, LOL.

Number 1 reason this was a good pick: Jerry Jones said the biggest mistake he probably has made as owner was firing Chan Gailey. If that doesn't show fans this guy is well thought of by the league than go ahead and jump off the bridge. I think I may get my season tickets back, I want better seats to pick from anyway. Stop
