I don't want to watch Trent Edwards play football ever again. Or Ryan Fitzpatrick. I know what it looks like and I don't enjoy it one bit. It's obviously very unlikely Brohm will amount to anything, but I'd like to see him play just to see SOMETHING different.

Your argument makes no sense. Ok, so 8/10 of those RBs were good. But a full 5/10 of those QBs are good, and a couple are amazing. Having a good RB is nice, but if you get lucky and catch Brees you are a playoff contender for years to come. No running back can have an impact like that.

So now that the draft is over, what do you think the Bills are going to do with Maybin? Play him at OLB in the 3-4 or DE? Do you think he will be a starter? He didn't really show much on the field last year, but maybe a change would do him good.

It's not like I'm saying that I think going 0-16 would be FUN. It would be excruciating as a fan to go through. I am saying, though, that you just simply CAN NOT compete at a high level in his league without top quarterback play. The teams with the good quarterbacks are just the best teams year in, year out. What's the Bills best chance of getting that franchise QB? Very rarely do top QBs move in free agency, and the Bills can't realistically sign them anyways. It's drafting the top QB in a draft class. Sure, sometimes quarterbacks from late rounds can become Hall of Famers. Many times first round draft pick QBs are huge busts. But, the vast majority of late round QBs amount to nothing, and a better percentage of top QBs drafted have good careers. Drafting a marquee QB doesn't guarantee you anything. What it does do is give you a LEGITIMATE shot. You just have to pray you catch lucky and draft Peyton Manning and not Ryan Leaf. If you get Leaf, you just go back to being a crappy team. If you get Manning, then you get a real shot at being a playoff team every year for a decade. Maybe Levi Brown is the next Tom Brady. I just would prefer to roll the dice with Clausen or Tebow than Brown. Next year I want to roll the dice with the highest rated QB in the draft and get the best chance at a franchise QB.

I'm not abandoning all hope. I'm just saying that you guys are hoping for the wrong thing. Think about what things you are hoping to have happen to allow the Bills to return to their former glory. Maybe Jimbo will come out of retirement. Other than that, I hope they bottom out and draft a franchise QB and return to glory!

how does going 6-10 or 7-9 get the bills any closer to a franchise qb and contending for a super bowl? that's like the worst thing that could happen.

The thing is, if someone set the over/under on Bills wins this season at 9-7, you know as well as I do that you would NEVER pony up a few grand to bet on the over at 1:1 odds. Because you don't even really believe that 12-4 garbage when it comes down to it.

People on these boards keep telling me I am all doom and gloom, and I need to be more OPTIMISITC. How can you not grasp that the most OPTIMISTIC outlook for this season is to go 0-16? The Bills only hope to break out of this malaise of mediocrity is to hit rock bottom once and for all. With Trent Edwards at the core of your offense you have nothing, and no hope for the future. Imagine a young offense with CJ Spiller and Jake Locker at the core. Now you don't have this happy horseshit "Billieve" hope, you have REAL hope for the future. It's like the Bills continually have the mindset that they are just a band-aid away from making the playoffs. Maybe there is some small amount of truth to that, but they best they could hope for is taking a run at a wild card berth and getting bounced in the first round. I want them to be so bad that they get the 1st pick in the draft, and then they can start REBUILDING in earnest - not this quick fix crap. Only then can they actually have hope for returning to a dominant team that can set its aim on the Super Bowl each year, instead of just trying to patch something together that has an outside chance of a wild card berth. Russ doesn't want to risk an 0-16 season because it will hurt revenue. So the organization will just keep spinning its tires trying to WIN NOW and failing at it. Nix/Gailey are probably too scared to even draft a QB, because they know it will be a learning curve, and if the QB does develop it will just be for their successors. Spiller gives them the best shot at immediate impact (with little long term impact), so in that sense the pick was obvious. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I thought I was being generous at 6-10. It's much more likely to be worse than that then it is to be better.

The best part about the Bills games in Toronto is how the fans there mostly cheer for the other team.

I think 1-3 is a fair expectation here. Overall it looks like they could go 6-10. Maybe 5-11. Bad enough to be completely irrelevant, but not quite bad enough to get a top draft pick and a real chance at the number one QB prospect. Just like every other season.

the bills dont have a good defense. in terms of pass defense, they have a pretty good secondary and a bad pass rush. in terms of run defense, they were among the VERY WORST in the entire league. i will say, though, that the defense is relatively better than the offense - which is consitently among one of the worst units in all of football.

what are you even trying to say? that chris johnson ruined their franchise? in 2007 the titans made the playoffs. that offseason they drafted johnson. in 2008 collins had a solid season and johnson was a rookie seeing somewhat limited action. on the back of a great defense and solid qb play they went 13-3 and made the playoffs again. in 2009 johnson had a record setting season and the titans missed the playoffs.

the bills and the raiders got bad grades last year but you're right, maybin and heyward-bey sure proved the pundits wrong!

hey deep2moulds - just saying "oh it's year 1 in the process don't worry about need positions" makes no sense. if they bills have clear need positions and do nothing to address them, how is that improving the team? how can you retards not see that this is just more of the same from the bills? nix got promoted from janitor to gm because he would keep towing the party line.

Teams that are completely rebuilding start with a good coach and a quarterback. The Bills have neither. Maybe next year they will start rebuilding. This year they are just content to go 4-12. How long did it take the Jets to "rebuild"? How long did it take the Falcons? How exactly did they "rebuild"?
