  1. How does a Guy who gives a mediocre college coach from a mediocre conference a 4 million dollar out on a team owned by a 95 year old man who has stated for years that his family has no intention of running the team after he is gone? Maybe I missed the many teams clamoring for his services and it was this was a deal breaker. Brandon has needed to go for the last 10 years. I know many will claim he is a genius marketing guy even though this genius included putting the team at a competitive disadvantage playing 9 road games for years. Seriously folks consider for a second marketing the Buffalo Bills to rabid Western New York football fans. This task seems about as hard as marketing free beer to the same fans at a Buffalo Bills tail-gate party.

  2. since Roman never had a RB like Spiller, it's hard to say how he would use him. He isn't a ground and pound RB but he could certainly be used in screens and the passing game. They won't be running up the middle on every down.

He had LeMichael James and didn't take advantage of his explosive speed

  3. This is my take too.

The best long play for Schwartz is stay in Buffalo for another year with this beast roster, Swap strategies with Rexy then lineup a HC interview in 2016.

Jumping to a DC gig for the Gints or Deadskins like delays his chance to be a HC again because now he is a 1 year stop on his resume. Which can be explained away but it still may make some owners/GMs uneasy.

That is if Rexy can keep his fingers out of Schwartz' snack jar.

Dude he is a football coach not an accountant. No GM will care he stayed 1 year given a new Head Coach was brought in who is a defensive expert who also brought in his previous DC. I want him to stay cause changing something so dominant to a scheme that we may not have the players for sounds like little upside but potentially big downside.

  4. :wallbash: .... :beer::censored: ... :wallbash: ... :thumbdown:... :doh:

wow, dismantled the #4 defense already.... switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 now? I don't get this hire at all.

Yes having been used to hiring coaches that no one else wanted for years the fact that a coach who has won on the NFL level and is in demand comes as a shock.

  5. For most 15 years no playoffs

From quite a few - Orton quit and they hate EJ

a year ago I thought 9-7 was a good record (with EJ) and therefore I am OK with it

Orton the year long retiree is gone, so I'm OK with that.

DW wanting to develop and coach EJ (being the starter) in 2015, so I'm OK with that.

Marone quit, so I'm OK with that.

all in all the OP is correct why?

Orton for his career was just over .500 and he couldn't scramble out of a sack.

So You must also be good qith his replacement who has a .375 career record and assumes the upright fetal position when pressured.

  6. Funny like is Orton were to be the starter next year would give some folks hope. lol

You call it funny, I call it sad. Sad that a QB of Ortons ability is demonstratively better than our failed first rounder. Also sad is the fact that he is now being given a pass and his failure pinned on his former coach. Addtionally sad is our GM trying to buy himself sometime by demanding the new head coach work with our failed first rounder. Makes me wonder if Marrone saw the writing on the wall when Orton retired feeling having to go with EJ he would be fired after next year anyway. if you were Rex Ryan with his defensive background would you join a team having EJ or Matt Ryan? Reality of our situation is what is making me blue.

    Go Bills

  7.

what? How did he panic? Let's find out if he lost after a few years.

I can just picture the same exact topic for Beckham with these QBs that we have.

"Did Whaley panic and grab a Beckham because Evans was gone? Why don't we ever trade up? Watkins is doing amazing on the Giants"

I know Bills fans have a habit of running their players out of town but geez. Give them a shot/chance before calling them a bust. These are less than ideal QB situations.

If you didn't mean the Watkins/1st over Beckham deal, then I apologize for my assumption.

    k

Oh yes the kick it down the road argument. Two years in a row Whaley grossly overpaid in the first round. Along with his "All In" on EJ this year. Well Doug you busted out, please help yourself to a complimentary buffet on the way out the door.

  8. Bench Orton. Start EJ. No further explanation required. I started this thread with those three sentences. Let me explain. Orton does not give us the best chance to win. He gives us the best chance to lose. We beat the Pack today despite Orton not because of Orton. EJ may not be the next coming of Montana and may not be even on this team next season but at least give him one more chance. Can he do any worse?

You are doubling down on embarrassing yourself. EJ sucked last year and this year. What magic elixir has he taken to reverse that while on the bench?

  9. We would like wins and I for one would like to see the playoffs again. You prefer we laud him for sliding 3 yards shy of a first down and ducking at imagined pressure?

You think we win with EJ out there or is it 24-3 with EJ throwing for 150 yds with a 70% completition rating and coverting zero third downs.

  10.

Not so sure about the above. The DL put pressure on Brady but not enough, and at times they rushed 3. When Brady is on, he will find open receivers given time, and time is exactly what Schwartz handed him. They should have blitzed and kept hitting him.

The Bills didn't do well in the past with passive defenses. This game was more of the same and makes one long for the days of Pettine.

You mean the good ole days where our D gives up 250 yds on the ground?

  11. The best Bills offense of All Time had James Lofton spreading the field deep which opened up underneath for Andre and Metzelars and also opened up the running game. Goodwin may not have the skill of Lofton but he certainly has the speed to stretch things out. I think the Bills should sent him deep and try and overthrow him a couple times a game. With his speed I dont think they can overthrow him.

  12. Guy has to stay on the field to be utilized. Injury issues have really hurt him, but if he can stay healthy I'm sure he will be used more and more. At least I hope.

Maybe a QB that doesnt throw balls in places where Goodwin gets blown up will keep him on the field longer.
