  1. As an orthopedic surgeon - an acute shoulder dislocation is not a good injury. In a young male athlete is almost always associated with a rotator cuff tear or worse a bone impaction injury that can lead to more dislocations... If it is a true shoulder dislocation he will be placed on IR.

A shoulder separation is an AC joint (its not really the shoulder) injury and is generally 4 weeks or less to recover

  2. Peter Warrick looked even better with the ball in his hands, and he also lacked the hands & route-running skills a top WR prospect should have. But he was a "playmaker", so he got drafted in the top-5. Once in the NFL, it became obvious that even elite open-field moves alone are not enough to make it in the NFL. And Warrick had MUCH more college success than Patterson. Unfortunately, there is no position in the NFL called Playmaker.

Patterson has bust written all over him if he goes in the top half of the 1st. He's going to get so much hype, that he'll be drafted way too high and be expected to produce right away. He is a project and needs a few years to develop.

Warrick was 5' 11" and that was 13 years ago. College coaching and passing game is so much more refined now.

  3. This guy looks dominant. And does it in SEC. Big 6'3" 200+. Fast. Looks like Julio Jones - I think he looks better than Julio did in college. His speed and cuts remind me of .... Spiller a little bit - in the way they were head and shoulders above the competition at the collegiate level. This guy is WORTH 8 overall!

But watch the video and see for your self.

  4. So I remember this guy two years ago, and wondered what happened to him. Per PFT, Mayock says he could go #1.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/23/mayock-combine-may-put-robert-quinn-in-mix-for-no-1-overall-pick/

And here is the impressive highlight vid.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuKdkjZf5uk

He looks great, big, fast, plays the run well, has some pass rush moves. This leaves Quinn, Fairley, or Newton in play at #3 - depending on who takes who ahead of the bills. Another good possibility is that the Bills will have leverage to trade (3 awesome talents). But I think they should take one of these 3.

  5. True accountability is obviously not your strong suit. If you ever watched college football you'd know who Reggie Mcneil/McNeal was regardless of the spelling which is a silly excuse. It's funny how strong you came on because I discredited the one and only guy who liked the Bills draft.

    Cheers

    But you didn't discredit him.

  6. The good news is we'll have a real good shot at next year's number 1 pick!

    I don't think so.

In addition, I think something is clear. They all picked guys with HUGE work ethics and will improve and do everything to be better football players:

Wang (parents from CHina - look at the vid on Bbills.com)

Spiller (ran track to get better)

Troup (high motor, really good work ethic)

Carrington, Bratten, Moats (small school guys who rush the passer and high motors again)

Easley (walk-on! are you kidding me runs a 4.40)

Plus another thing. Most of these guys have SIZE. And besides the OTs the guys have great speed. Check their numbers.

Remember Nix said long ago as a BIlls scout: "mobile, agile, hostile"

  7. Maybe, but let's slow down. Wang is a fifth round pick who isn't even guaranteed to make the team. Yao was the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft. Also, I believe that Wang was born in the US -- while Yao is a full-fledged Chinese citizen who lives there in the offseason.

True. But Wang's parents were Olympians. Dad was a high jumper, Mom a 110 m hurdler on the Track team. B/c he is the first Chinese (2nd generation) player in the NFL it WILL be a big deal in China.

  8. What's your point? We have a good starting RB, so let's draft another one?

Your point is exactly why so many of us are upset. We have Freddie who's a very capable RB. We have Lynch who's a very capable RB. We don't need another RB. We need a LT, a DT, a QB. So, why pick someone at one of the few positions we actually have a little depth? Then you see the Bills say they like him in this Bush/gadget roll? Come on man.

People stop getting fixated on the "position" of RB. In the more important "position" of playmaker we have POOR depth. He plays a little bit faster the Bush. Bush looks "flashier" on tape in college. But CJ has great moves too - football moves - just one hard cut and go.

  9. This year's DT class is highly regarded, but most of the DTs are 4-3 DTs and few are true NT prospects. Discounting

Suh and McCoy because they won't be available to the Bills, the following are the NT candidates and my opinions

(admittedly based on the reviews I've read from ProFootballWeekly and former NFL scout Russ Lande). I think if the

Bills want one of these guys, they'll have to pick him about a round higher than their talent justifies and they'll

be passing over better players at other positions.

    1. Dan Williams - split opinions on him. Really didn't impress anyone until his last season so there is reason for

concern there. PFW considers him a top-20 prospect, Lande sees him as a late 2nd-3rd round prospect. Is big and

has power in his lower body, but lacks elite upper body strength and plays high losing leverage to hold the line.

Has some potential, but is probably a stretch in the top 10 - would almost certainly be the lowest "rated" player

    taken in the top 10.

    2. Terrence Cody - Massive very slow run plugger. Has shed an impressive amount of weight to get down under

350lbs, but will he keep it off once he gets paid. Won't be a playmaker due to his lack of speed and quickness,

may be very valuable just taking up OL blocks. May only be able to play a limited number of downs due to lack

of conditioning. Some team may stretch to grab him in the late 1st or early 2nd. Even if he makes it to Buffalo's

pick in the 2nd, I'd consider him a risky pick due to his lack of effort and conditioning concerns.

    3. Cam Thomas - described as "country strong" has excellent size for a NT. Little production, so is really just a

plugger. Consensus seems to be late 2nd-3rd round for him. 41st is probably a bit high for him, so he'd be a

    moderate reach there.

    4. Linval Joseph - May be the most athletic of the NT candidates and has good size and strength. Played at a mid-tier

level of competition with East Carolina. Reportedly has good upside. 3rdish round projection.

    5. Torrell Troup - Big guy, but limited athlete. A possible 3rd-4th round pick.

    6. Al Woods - LSU, big and strong, but didn't play much prior to his Sr year (why?). Has the size and strength to

be good, but why did he only start 1 year in college? Probably picked in the 2nd-3rd round.

Agree with previous post. And Russ Lande ? You mean the guy who think Crompton QB from Tenn is the 2nd best QB in the draft? And Lande thinks Crompton will be a great starting QB?

Crompton is sooo bad it is not even funny. It is like hearing Tate Forcier QB from Michigan (5'11" 175) is going to be a star in the NFL. Please.

Asked why Lande thinks so highly of Crompton his main reasoning was that he improved. OK so if you improved from 1/10 to a 3/10 you still suck even though you improved. Why would I take a 3/10 prospect over a 9/10 prospect? Stupid over-thinking logic

  10. Take a look at last season's stats:

    Passing Sacked Fumbles

G QBRat Comp Att Pct Yds Y/G Y/A TD Int Sack YdsL Fum FumL

    McNabb 14 92.9 267 443 60.3 3553 253.8 8.0 22 10 35 264 10 3

    Campbell 16 86.4 327 507 64.5 3618 226.1 7.1 20 15 43 285 11 3

    Quite similar.

And, as far as lack of confidence in Campbell "winning big", remember that McNabb played in 4 NFC Championship games and won only one.

Campbell is younger by 5 years and you may possibly get him for a 4th, while it took a 2nd to get McNabb.

Not similar. McNabb threw 2 more TD's, 5 less INTs, took 8 less sacks. And W-L is drastically different.

  11. LOL. Caffeine isn't the issue. Using a mid first round pick on a guard is if Wood never does take over the center position. As I mentioned I have hope for him. I expect him to take over at center. If he doesn't take over at center however then we made a "reach" pick.

Journeyman guards are mid round to as high as second round picks NOT mid first rounders. As I said with Donte, Wood would be a reach if all he ends up being is a journeyman guard. Donte is a decent safety. 8th overall?....HELL NO! which is why he gets so much flack from some. It's not his fault we drafted the guy 16 spots or a whole round early.

Here's to hoping Wood is indeed more than just that.

Uhh #28 out of 32 is not mid round. That is late first round. He was projected to go there or early second round. He is your best OL'man. It is a bout building a team. You can't take only certain positions based on what round it is. Take good players period.

  12. Kerry Collins had a hitch in his throwing motion at Penn State, yet led an expansion franchise to the NFC Championship Game in his second season. A few years back, Tiger Woods rebuilt his swing. Mechanics can be improved.

Not that I want to see Tebow in a Bills uniform ...

Kerry Collins has really really solid mechanics throwing a football. High elbow. Over the top. Perfect release/spiral. "Hitch" - that is Tebow or Byron Leftwich.

Also led Giants to a Super Bowl appearance. And a 13-3 Titans record last season when he was mad old.

  13. Trust your first instinct. This is a typical Bills move. Nix is a quality football guy, but so was Marv. Old and semi-retired hasn't worked very well with Levy or Modrak. And yes, we know they can do worse. Brandon was a football-side disaster. Guy has been disgusting. He should have been fired when Donahoe was here. Guy might be the worst man at his job in Bills management history.

Ok Marv was a HC, never had 30 years of scouting/assistant GM experience like Nix. Levy came in to hire the HC for Ralph. He might have had some kind of role in supervising picks - but he wasnt evaluating and making picks. Don't compare the two. I mostly agree with your other points.

  14. Whatever your opinion is on Lynch and Jackson (and granted, I don't think many opinions one way or another are worth much given the offense they play in), there is no way Lynch should be getting less than 5 carries a game. Absolutely no way. Fewell is a joke.

Yes agreed. Lynch is too talented not to see touches. Jackson 25 touches. Lynch 20 touches. Done.

  15. You know it's bad when the opposing team has gone into Prevent D with 4 minutes to go in the third. Brohm looks like a champ...almost.

What are ya'll talking about. Prevent D is two high safeties deep. I see a lot of BASE D with a true SS. Brohm looks pretty good for not playing in an NFL game before, not being with this team in training camp, and having this terrible O-Line. A lot of positives.

  16. 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Ndamakung Suh / DT / Nebraska

    2. St. Louis Rams - Jimmy Clausen / QB / Notre Dame

    3. Detroit Lions - Russel Okung / OT / Oklahoma St.

    4. Cleveland Browns - Sam Bradford / QB / Oklahoma

    5. Kansas City Chiefs - Terrence Cody / DT / Alabama

    6. Washington Redskins - Bruce Campbell / OT / Maryland

    7. Oakland Raiders - Eric Berry / S / Tennessee

    8. Buffalo Bills - Rolando McClain / LB / Alabama

    9. Denver Broncos - Gerald McCoy / DT / Oklahoma

    10. Seattle Seahawks - Bryan Bulaga / OT / Iowa

No way Cody goes before McCoy. Cody is not an everydown player. He should go in the 20's. I want to see the Bills get McClain or McCoy. Or the OLB from TCU. Also the DE from GaTech is a freak athlete pass rusher. Hes huge fast and has rush moves.

  17. Our #8 overall pick is a marginal player who is not even 3rd best SAFETY on his team.

    That spells bust to me.

Yes agreed- saying he will never be ed reed, troy, or sanders means that he is a bust given that he was selected #8 overall. You need to revisit your definition of a bust.

  18. I finally got around to watching the game and was expecting to see a horrible play by Whitner. You guys are friggin nuts. The whole defense was up close to the line of scrimmage, the RB broke through and had a wide open field to make any move he wanted. He cut right and Whitner followed (had he not followed the whole right side of the field was open), then he cut back left and took off. How in the hell does that equal taking a bad angle on a run?

It's like you people make up plays in your head and then get pissed about them.

Are you serious? Right the Chiefs 2nd (or even 3rd) string RB makes one devastating move and blows right past Whitner (pulls away actually) and its OK? Dude Troy Polamalu or Bob Sanders makes that tackle 10/10 times. Sorry when my team picks a S w/ the #8 pick those are my expectations. He has to come upfield alot faster (watch when he makes open field tackles he just stands still moving his feet up and down) and just be able to be athletic enough to not get juked and then get outran (poorly). I think you see Drayton Florence (whos big and physical and is not fast) catch up to both of them - so I have a good measuring stick for comparison. Whitner is slow - not good enough of a ball hawk to play FS (and not good enough open field tackler) and too small to play SS (cant cover TEs and gets run over by RBs too much).

Lets be honest - George Wilson makes wayyyyy more plays than Whitner. Scott makes way morrre plays. And of course Byrd. He is not a nickel cover guy either. He is a backup. A lot of Bills players (defense) are backups.
