  1. The Bills barely beat a bad Panthers team at home last week so I don't see how anyone can predict they will go on the road and beat a bad Jets team by 14 or 30

Any road game is going to be tough for this team especially the first one at a place they generally do not play well

The so called experts on TV especially NFLN are a bunch of dopes

The Bills have to prove they can win on the road before they start running up scores.

  2. A lot of posters come here solely to vent. They have to make sure that others feel their frustration.

I was disappointed with their play yesterday but this is my theory too.

The team looked overworked and they just broke camp on Wednesday. They had an off day on Thursday to move and it was just one of those games (which happen to all teams) where the team wasn't sharp for a variety of reasons.

    They're not robots.

I remember thinking on that one play where Helu fumbled and the ball bounced right back into his hands "this is just one of those days."

It's TUEL Time Lets light it up!
  3. To everyone saying they can't remember a big kick he didn't make, there was a prime time game against Cleveland a few years back where we had a chance to win at the end, and he totally muffed it. I remember sitting in the stands wanting him cut after that game.

Missed his share of kicks late in games, automatic when game was not on the line. Steve Christy he was not but solid . Good person ,and best of luck.
  4. Okay, maybe that's going a little too far, but hear me out:

IMO, I think there is a good chance that Marrone has had his mind set on Manuel from the beginning, and here's what his plan may have been all along: To give Manuel a fast track training that he could not have obtained if he was named the starter 2 months ago. Rookie QBs face a whole new level of pressure going into the NFL, and Marrone is giving him doses of pressure to prepare. First, the training camp battle - this will give Manuel something to play for more than just "practice" - give him the mentality he's actually fighting for something. Same goes for preseason...if he's fighting for the job, it is a more similar mindset to a regular season game than just a "scrimmage" game. Manuel is under immense pressure right now instead of naming him the starter so he can breeze through camp and preseason without a worry, then get smashed in his debut.

Other people have pointed this out: If we let Kolb start all year, and he fails, then it leads to 2014 being ANOTHER rebuilding year with Manuel's first starting season. Coach knows we need to get the ball rolling.

I get your point but there is no breezing through camp if your the 1st, 2nd or 3rd string at any level!

I wrote earlier that I think this is just good coaching. Kolb knows the speed of the game and has faced NFL defenses that blitz, no reason to dumb it down for him. Manuel on the other hand is being eased into the speed and complexity. If you threw everything at him it could slow his learning curve. The objective is to have him ready for opening day.

    +1

  5. In fairness-- and with some cynicism sprinkled it-- most of the general population aren't coached on how to take the Wonderlic and drilled on the types of questions that are asked. Scoring extremely well is still a modest accomplishment, but it means a lot less than scoring poorly.

    Great post!
