  1. We here takes tons of der der der der der (banjo on porch). Listen, any real college football fan who has gone to a real football school will root for their conference on any national stage. When the top team is voted as such, conference strength plays a huge role. If your conference is struggling in RECENT years like the Big Ten, you want the conference to be represented well in bowl games. If your conference is the tops in recent years like the SEC, then as a fan of any SEC team, you want the conference to continue flexing its tiny hick muscle.

    And chazbb,

"Witness Florida's 41-14 victory over "number 1" Ohio State in the 2007 BCS National Championship game. The truth is, ANY of the top five teams in the SEC that year would have easily handled Ohio State, but Florida just so happened to get the honor."

Dont be an idiot. That's something a casual college football fan would say.

sounds like someone is still bitter about that 41-14 loss.

  2. Being from the Gainesville/Ocala area, we here take tons of pride in being in the strongest conference in football. Florida has the tradition of being that powerhouse the past couple years, Bama this year, and most seasons Georgia/SC/Arkansas/LSU/Auburn/ are all usually ranked in the same season. Even though im a huge Gator fan through and through i rooted for Bama even though they thrashed us. It's not the team, it's having the pride of the strongest conference in college football, and SEC fans want other people to surely know that...pretty simple.

  3. As much as I've gotten caught up in the Cowher sweepstakes, I also see major upside with Schottenheimer. He has worked with Brees and Rivers in the past, and has Sanchez, a rookie, into the second round of the playoffs.

Maybe Brian would come with dad as some type of a consultant to the Bills, or at least he could help Brian with assistant coaching contacts.

I also really like the idea that we'd be robbing the OC of a division rival.

My only question is, can be build a quality staff?

I am guilty as well about wanting Cowher almost too badly. But the more and more i read and hear about Schotty Jr, the more i would like to see a young buck in the driver's seat. I also agree that Marty could probably advise him pretty well about assembling a top tier-staff, as i am sure he's got some good contacts.

  4. Bear Bryant was the Coach at Alabama

In the movie Forrest Gump, the title character played football at Alabama

Forrest Gump was played by Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks also played in Apollo 13

Also playing in Apollo 13 was Kevin Bacon

It all comes back to Kevin Bacon

But seriously...how much time did the guy who wrote the article have on his hands?

  5. When asked about 2008 No. 11 overall pick Aaron Maybin, new GM Buddy Nix said "We try not to take guys who are one-year wonders; they'll get you in trouble."

Nix was trying to say that if he was in charge last April, Maybin would not have been the pick. He started just 10 games at Penn State before declaring early for the draft and needs to put on a ton of weight. It's too early to call Maybin a bust, but he has to be considered a project at this point. The "pass rusher" had no sacks in limited snaps this season

This was on rotoworld.... im sure almost half this board was saying the same thing last april.....Finally we seem to have someone with a brain up there in the front office....

I dont post much and usually just watch all you guys say what im thinkin but i figured i wanted to share this...

  6. Bobby April is the best Special Teams coach in the NFL.

Not to long ago he was being considered for a HC job in Buffalo.

Why would we ever let him go???

Just looking around for this on multiple websites. I know we cleaned house but April was our best coach the last couple years without a question.

  7. Would you want to bring him in for a looksee? I know he's not great against the run and he was hurt last year but maybe a situational guy to mentor Maybin? I'm already in the offseason guys and bored so I'm wondering about your thoughts...

why not? I think he'd be a decent pick up for a good price if Schobel decides to drop himself off the roster. He would be good in a rotation, and we could move maybin to OLB

  8. Ye Ole' was having himself a nap earlier and a prophetic vision struck!

Suddenly I was in the midst of a 1 PM "presser" at OBD... I even had credentials!

Next thing I know Ralph steps to the podium and in a somewhat incoherent fashion makes a few a jokes that garnered a courtesy laugh from those of us in the media, after which he had Russ Brandon step to the podium.

Russ makes about 10 minutes of small talk outlining the search/interview process for a new coach and then gives the old "without further adieu, it is my great pleasure to introduce the next head coach of the Buffalo Bills, Bill Cowher!"

Cowher stepped to the podium and discussed his philosophies on both sides of the ball. Said that he'd be implementing a base 3-4 scheme that would have a lot of zone blitz looks. On offense he said he believed strongly in building a big, physical, supremely talented o-line and really liked what he had seen of Freddie from afar. Also mentioned Marshawn as a tough, physical runner. After roughly 15 minutes he said he had to get to work, and promised to restore the winning tradition to this great franchise.

Afterwards there were fabulous refreshments for the media that included deli sandwiches and a delectable fruit chutney!

Then, I was over by the deli tray, when Mike Robitaille got down on all fours behind Mike Schopp and gave YE OLE' the thumbs up to signal that the school boy trip was all set up. Just then I gave Schopp a shove and chirped "SURE!" ... sure enough Robi caught him at the knees and Schopp was goin down fast! ... then Ye woke up. I really wanted to see how that turned out too.

    it's always nice to dream.

  9. Ahhh, maybe his $6.5 million dollar paycheck?????????

Being on a losing team is no excuse for not giving 100% effort all the time, thats why they pay you MILLIONS TO PLAY A FREAKIN' GAME.

Was he used to full potential? No.

Could he have been better if he was on a better team? Probably

Does this excuse his lack of effort? Hell No

Was he worth signing this year? For the Bills, ticket and Jersey sales show that it was

pretty sure he's going to get paid the rest of his money if he has 0 catches his last two games or 25 catches. Who cares.

  10. I'm tired of hearing this "bring Clausen" to Buffalo crap. Draft Jevan Snead from Ole Miss.

    and here we go....

Snead is absolutely terrible. If you have ever seen the kid play, you would know this. He had just about an equal Td/Int ratio at 20-17. Only completed 54% of his passes. If you want any SEC kid, get Mallett from Arkansas. Kid is a great NFL prospect with his size at 6-7 240 and threw 29 tds, 7 ints, completed 60% of his passes and tossed for 3500 yards, all this against the same competition that Snead went up against. Watch some game film or highlights and educate yourself for im sure you may start to feel the same.

  11. Certainly could have used that 6mil somewhere else, like on a linebacker or a tackle. Fact is, this guy did nothing to distinguish himself. He will either be out of the league or working for a lot less next year.

what did you expect him to do with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB and a horrible o-line? rush for td's? oh wait....

  12. I am a realist that is why. Until Ralph Dies, sells or just gets the !@#$ out of the way 100% this team is going to suck. It has a horrible rep and no one worth a damn at this point even wants to sniff coming to Buffalo.

Hope? I am done with blind faith and hope. REALITY is we are in deep **** as an org and I can't see it changing any time soon thanks to the Owner still being the owner.

Gotta agree with this. In reality, we're absolutely horrid, we're a mess, and what kind of upside do we have to look forward to? putting Brohm in for 2 games? Speculation that 10 mil has been thrown at shanny? no. As long as Ralph is here we will still be a 7-9 team at best until something major is changed. Which we all know just won't happen. Thanks Mr. Wilson!
