Was listening to a sports station in orlando the other day and they had Brian Urlacher as their guest. One of the questions was how was it was in the locker room with Cutler. Urlacher replied that Jay never talked to anyone on the team and was always to himself. Classified Jay as "different" than anyone else he's met personality wise. He added during the interview that Cutler wasn't ever involved with team togetherness activities, etc. Not a guy I'd want to be on my team.

My guess, They wanted to keep the ball out of Patterson's hands. Dangerous returner who could take it to the house on any return.

, I think its a pop warner/HS D, maybe some Colleges, but I don't like it at the NFL level. Just my HO.
A lot of more athletic high school teams run this as well , and run cover 0, quarters, or thirds behind it. It's a tough theory to hope "our guys get there before the QB throws the ball" situation. But i agree, It's really not a fit in an NFL defense.

I am talking about 5 DL (I'd guess they would put KW as center), 2 LBs, 3 CBs and a safety? Remember reading about it a couple of years ago bur Bills never had the horsepower. Teams would probably try to match it with 5 WRs and try to get between the DL and LBs but there would be a lot of pressure on OL and QB especially without a RB to pick up a blocker.
Are you talking about an over/under front with a stand up LB playing? Or a three man T,N,T front with 2 stand up guys or ends?
With all the pressure you would try to apply on the QB, you could expect a lot more 0 coverage.

+1. I don't see Freddy as a "me" kind of guy. He's always team first. If Nix said his contract will get done, I don't think Freddy has any doubt. He is a football player that any coach would dream of having on their team.

When they showed highlights of this guy I couldn't believe he was listed as pass rusher. This is one of the skinniest DE/LB's I have ever seen. My first reaction was OMG that guy is skinnier than Aaron Maybin.
Pretty sure i heard during the draft that he was converted from either SS or FS (4.4 speed). They called him a one trick pony. He has no inside moves, and always rushes outside.

But back to the original post, I've seen Coples going in the top 10, so I'm gonna go with him.

RBs in the first round are a waste no matter how good they are.

Well suck is a relative term to where the player is drafted isn't it? Ill go with Richardson. He doesn't have the elite speed to warrent a top ten pick, and RBs are chewed up and spit out these days. Peterson and C Johnson as evidence.
This argument holds no water. Last year was the only year Peterson rushed for under 1200 yards. Johnson never under 1,000. Richardson is going to be a good player, and you can't just base it off off "potential" injuries.

My friends and I were talking about these drugs during the games yesterday. Gronk took a nasty hit/tackle and was obviously gimpy, however, we all new he would go back get shot up and be back out on the field.
It got me to thinking how much of the early deaths and birth defects in their children we see with football players are contributed to this.
Dangerous game they play not only short term but long term with these side effects. Concussions rightfully so are at the forefront of the nfl's concern, but the punishment (and treatment) these players put their bodies through should be as well.
Very well put. Although I believe there should be more guidelines on the extended use of these drugs given to the players from the team doctors. I know there is a ton of pressure put on the doctors from the owners, so the NFl as a league should step in and mandate perscription use. Example: I know you're not "supposed" to recieve more than one cortizone shot for one area (because of excessive damage to the tissue), but who knows how many these guys really get, and shortening their careers by doing so.

Who knows what happens with Mario Williams since Conner Barwin had a huge year. Maybe the Texans think Barwin will be the better option because of his contract status while not losing a whole lot at the DE/OLB position.
Mario's status: Barwin may have helped make the Texans think Mario Williams, who is heading towards free agency, is expendable. With Barwin and Brooks Reed at outside linebacker since a torn chest muscle ended Williams' season, the team has gotten great production. Williams’ franchise tag would cost more than $16 million, which is salary-cap prohibitive. The Texans are going to have to sign him or let him walk.
Guess which one Barwin is hoping for?

He had five sacks in the first five games, so who knows what his production would have been. In Wade Phillips’ system in this defense you need three outside backers to rotate and me and Brooks have been pretty much playing every single snap. That can wear you down a little bit. AWOL sacks: While he finished the regular season with 11.5 sacks, it could have been 13.5. (We thought he lost three sacks as we talked, but ESPN Stats and Info says it was only two.)

Each of the lost sacks were turned back because of penalties, though of course we must consider that the penalty could have given him the time to make the play. Week 4 against Pittsburgh Barwin to Ben Roethlisberger but Brice McCain erased it with an illegal contact call. And Week 13 against Atlanta, Barwin got Matt Ryan but lost the play because of defensive holding against McCain.

Tebow's senior year: 2895 yds passing, 910 yds rushing
Harnish's senior year: 3216 yds passing, 1379 yds rushing
And Tebow was surrounded by a lot more talent at Florida than Harnish was at NIU. Bills could get Harnish in the later rounds and start breaking him in by using him in wildcat formations.
Tebow also played much better competition

And in General the rest of the SEC, which has been the best BCS conference in the past 6 years.

895 rushing yards and 23 Tds
Harnish in 2011- (with the stats listed in previous post) 61.7% 28td's 6ints
All for a 155.0 QBR
Granted Tebow played with guys like Harvin, but he played against guys like Dareus.
According to the correlation, he may be worth that late round flyer pickor brought in as an UDFA.

He's a free agent after the season
He's young at 25
He's a deep threat
He's not that huge of a name so he shouldn't be to expensive to sign
He would be a great compliment to Stevie and in my opinion would be the best number 2 reciever option to get out of free agency
Pierre would be a great pickup IMO. He's only 6'0. But he plays with a ton of heart, and can be a 100 yard per game kind of guy.
This year with a shaky QB situation he had 947 yards on 70 grabs, that is over 13 YPC.
Most of all he's a Ralph "High Character" guy. I've met Pierre when he was still in college (recruiting trip to Mount Union) and he was just an all around nice guy. He's also done a lot for Haiti. I'd love to see the guy in a Bills uniform.

Chargers head coach Norv Turner will be fired sometime next week, meaning Sunday's game in Oakland will be his last with the team, the San Diego Union Tribune reported Saturday.
"There reaches a point of no return," a person in the Chargers' organization said.
The ax will fall despite Turner's reign at the Chargers being as successful as any of the team's previous coaches.
He will enter Sunday's game with a 48-31 win-loss record — the second best regular-season winning percentage of any Chargers head coach. If the team beats the Raiders on Sunday, and his postseason record is added to the equation, Turner will top the list of Chargers coaches.
Turner's dismissal will not be unexpected, with the coach being told in November that he quickly needed positive results to save his job. Four more defeats that month left San Diego fourth in the AFC West standings. They have since climbed to third, one game ahead of Kansas City.
But the firing is not likely to be well supported by Chargers players.
"It's really a shame . . ." quarterback Philip Rivers told the Union Tribune. "It hasn't been great [the past two seasons], but he's the winningest coach in the history of this place.

Hard to believe no one has given a shot to Banta-Cain.

According to Joe Buscaglia's twitter Batten was taking 1st team reps in place of Kelsay.
It will be interesting to see what Batten can do with full-game reps. Unfortunately i didn't catch many of the preseason games to see him play.

Wasn't too long ago that Lee Evans was the one and only draftable player on the Bills roster, and he was never exactly what you'd call a solid option at WR 2. Now Fitzpatrick, Freddie and Stevie are 2nd tier fantasy starters while Nelson and Chandler are solid late round picks or FA acquisitions.
Freddie has been my #1 guy all year. He's puting up solid pts. I've also got Stevie J, and Chandler on my roster after drafting Chris Cooley for my TE slot. I also just picked up Nelson for my W/T slot on yahoo.
