Can people stop with the "Millennials" stuff? He was born in 94. One year later and he would have been Gen Z. I think you're referring more to Gen Z's than Millennials. You do realize that there are a lot of Millennials in their early 40's now, right? And a lot more are in their early 30's. Or are you one of those ones where anyone born from 1980 until now is a Millennial?

    Ok boomer...

Largest dead cap hits in NFL history:
    Russell Wilson ($85M)
    Matt Ryan ($40.53M)
    Aaron Rodgers ($40.31M)
    Carson Wentz ($33.8M)
    Russell Wilson, again ($26M)

Teams have eaten $111M in the last 3 years to NOT  have Russell Wilson in their locker room.

Ever had a shot of chartreuse? It’s like eating a bouquet of flowers. Maybe that’s why Astro named it as such?!

I literally noticed chartreuse liquor at the store a couple weeks ago when I was looking for cointreau. I was wondering what it tasted like and what it’s used in. Flowers makes sense.

It's a strange combination of sweet, syrupy, medicinal, and floral - almost like someone accidently combined potpourri, Jagermeister, a bouquet of flowers and simple syrup in a blender and then upon staring too long in revulsion at this horrifying iridescent green liquid... came to the incomprehensible conclusion... WTF, might as well drink it.

Meh. I think the Saints did the right thing. They kicked the can relentlessly to load up for a last go with Drew Brees and Sean Payton and but for the worst non-call of all time that might have worked out. It didn't.

They have prolonged it by continuing to try and win post Brees in comparison to New England who that first year post Brady had a "take our medicine" year and then rebounded when Mac was a rookie, spent a bit in FA, put some pieces around him and won 10 games and made the playoffs - even though that relative success couldn't be sustained (mainly because they have drafted so poorly). But I sort of defend the Saints in doing that because they were in a division that, especially this year, looked very winnable. I still think the division is attainable for them with a good season and they still have some talented players so I'd run it back once more. But if they fail to make the post season again then next spring is a take your medicine season and you move on from Lattimore, Kamara, Ramcyzk, Jordan etc and it probably means the team you field in 2025 is going to be in contention for the #1 pick. Which just so happens to coincide with the point at which you can move on from Derek Carr and pick your QB of the future in the 2026 draft. It's likely your 2026 team will still suck a bit because you will be paying money to people who no longer play for you but as we have seen with Cincinnati and to a lesser extent Jacksonville in recent years the "suck, get your QB, suck again and load up" model is one that can pay some dividends.

I understand those who would not have done the Carr thing and would have started taking their medicine already. But the NFL is an entertainment product. You have to keep the fans coming and when you have a shot to win and make the playoffs you should try and win. It would have been different if they were in a division with the Eagles or the Cowboys... but Brady had gone, there was no super team in the NFC South and nobody expected Baker to bounce back as he did. So I think trying to win was the right move.

The Saints post-Payton still have (had) talent on the team. They have a talented but aging defense, and talented skill players on offense when Thomas is healthy, Kamara isn't in a courtroom, and Chris Olave's head is in the game. Unfortunately, what they found out this season is, not only is Carr a mediocre QB, he's also a terrible teammate who likes to grandstand when things go sideways AND, despite giving him reasonable personnel at this disposal, Pete Carmicheal is a similarly terrible OC.

Also, about people who say he can't win a Super Bowl: “You can’t listen,” said McDermott, who’ll turn 50 next month. “I believe we’re doing things the right way. You only fail if you quit, and I’ve never done that. I’ve never been about that. Whatever it is, you always figure it out. You always find a way to get there. The only thing left to do for us at this point is win an AFC championship and win a Super Bowl, which is pretty darn good. There’s not too many organizations that can say that over the last seven years. We’ve done everything else you can do, and that is what gets us out of bed in the morning.”

About the tough losses the Bills have had: “Anybody that says they’re not affected by a loss in this line of work isn’t being honest,” McDermott said. “There’s a degree of, ‘Hey, did I do the right thing? Did I do enough to help my team?’ But then you need to be able to come back to ‘No, I know I gave it my all. I put in everything I could have put into it.’

“We’ve played those games once, but I’ve played them a million times in my mind. Every last one of them from the first game against the Jets in 2017 to that game right there a million times. That’s where your confidence gets affected the most because then you start to lose who you are and trusting your gut and your experience and your preparation.”

About the fake punt to Hamlin against KC: “Had I not faked that punt, with what I knew going into that situation, it would have been a failure had I not tried,” McDermott said. “I would have gone home that night saying, ‘What would have happened had I faked that punt?’ It didn’t work out that specific situation in that in that particular moment, but I need to do everything I can to help our team win.”

Especially when you have a wizard at GM who's been dealing with the aftermath of those Covid rules and cap years, could really help get us on the right side of things.

I don't think this is acknowledged enough. In terms of the natural cycle of team building, I think this was really an inopportune time for that cap "constriction" with respect to the BIlls "growth" and may have had as significant of an impact as some of the injuries as to why we haven't been able to get over the hump in this window.

As a Bills fan since 1973, you may be content with nice & Shiney participation trophys, but I certainly am not.

I suspect by your tenor this will be a futile endeavor, however, here goes... if the only enjoyment you derive from football comes from winning a championship and you are a fan of the Buffalo Bills, then, unless you are old enough to have witnessed the AFL championship seasons, you are suggesting that you have not had a single fulfilling moment as a fan of this team. If that is the case, then you are missing out on a lot of great football these last few seasons. Acknowledging this team has been fun to watch does not mean you've lowered the bar from wanting them to win a championship. Accepting a championship as the only fulfillment you can derive from watching this team, however, seems like a self-torture and a poor use of time spent over the course of a lifetime.

    First order of business...

Hire 100+ full-time refs and pay them $200,000/yr (and they must quit their other job).

    - 3 months of ref training during NFL training camp

    - Off-season refreshers/training weekly

    - In-season, in addition to their assigned game... weekly meetings to go over calls throughout the league and how to improve week-to-week

    - Ongoing review, reporting, and accountability with penalties (financial or dismissal) if repeated problems

    - Have another 50 refs "on call" for emergencies who are trying to crack the top 100

    100 x $200K = $20 mil (Nothing to the NFL)

So, I looked really quickly to see some of the other occupations... dentist, pilot, HBO films producer, etc... I think a lot of these guys would be making a lot more than $200K working full time at their other jobs.

  9. This seems like a marketing ploy to get NFL fans to use BACtrack. Looks to me like they’re using location services to extrapolate team regions with user data without any definitive knowledge of whether or not the user is in fact a fan of a team in the region. So, for all they know, Miami’s ranking, for example, could be related more to Buffalo snowbirds than to Miami fan.
