  3. i keep reading these reports on players so i went and found a tape measure at work. at my tallest in HS i was just at 6'3". i'm just under 6'1 5/8" now with old age.

my arms are both about 30 1/2". i was curious how'd i'd compare because i never measured. i should probably be a 1st round pick.

This happens all the time.  Players whine about being disrespected by teams saying they will take them and then don't.

Randy Moss built a whole career out of telling everyone Dallas said they would take him and then they didn't and he still talks about it.

Nice Article from Joe Buscaglia on where the bills are and how that effects the draft.

  6. Re: the Leggette situation where he said he was going to be drafted by the Panthers. Teams tell TONS of players they're getting him. Gronk said a bunch of teams said they were going to get him and passed, for example.

  7. we drafted only one guy with a hyphenated name. so tha'ts a plus in my books.

    #nevertrustthehyphen.

Also... i don't mind these mock drafts. it gets us to look at people we may never pay attention to and learn about who's out there.

  8. Does any serious person who has the ability to think critically listen to NPR? I don't know of anyone who enjoys NPR who doesn't mouth pump the Democratic narrative.

NPR is just fine but it shouldn't receive federal funding. The problem with truly open left leaning democratic entertainment venues is they do not survive. Specifically on radio. Not when every alphabet on the television carries the same mantra.

I know nothing about North Carolina state income taxes, but here's how it works for federal income taxes:

    From https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc419

    _______________________________________________________________

    "Gambling winnings

A payer is required to issue you a Form W-2G, Certain Gambling Winnings if you receive certain gambling winnings or have any gambling winnings subject to federal income tax withholding. You must report all gambling winnings on Form 1040 or Form 1040-SR (use Schedule 1 (Form 1040)PDF), including winnings that aren't reported on a Form W-2GPDF. When you have gambling winnings, you may be required to pay an estimated tax on that additional income. For information on withholding on gambling winnings, refer to Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax.

    Gambling losses

You may deduct gambling losses only if you itemize your deductions on Schedule A (Form 1040) and kept a record of your winnings and losses. The amount of losses you deduct can't be more than the amount of gambling income you reported on your return. Claim your gambling losses up to the amount of winnings, as "Other Itemized Deductions."

                                                                                         * * * * *

    Recordkeeping

To deduct your losses, you must keep an accurate diary or similar record of your gambling winnings and losses and be able to provide receipts, tickets, statements, or other records that show the amount of both your winnings and losses. Refer to Publication 529, Miscellaneous Deductions for more information."

    ________________________________________________________________

So if your "guy" doesn't itemize deductions, he will definitely have to pay federal income taxes on his gross winnings, not just his net outcome.  If he itemizes deductions, he might only have to pay federal income taxes on his net winnings, but even that requires record keeping that most folks probably don't bother with.

He does not itemize. I have told him he needs to work to be able to itemize. But he's stupid. So, tax season will be fun next year.

Interesting considering there were rumors about him trying to sell the Sabres yesterday

i was told early in the bills season by a trusted source of first hand knowledge those rumors were not true. i do not think this person was accurate.

anyone doing this needs to have the ability to purchase the team as a whole should Pegs want to sell it.

He's intimidating witnesses.  you know he is.  the guy's a mobster and almost half of America wants to vote for him.  WTF?  Y'all grew up in WNY.  Remember when the mob was big in NF and Toronto?  Nice people as long as you didn't do business with them...I never had any trouble.  In fact I lost a golf bet as a kid and couldn't cover and the guy I was playing with did.  Bought me lunch too.  but I'd never vote for him for prez...

Pathetic and weak. Worthless and shameful.

    Do better, charge rent.

It's infiltrated my local hockey TV broadcasts in between periods. Sports radio runs commercials non-stop but the sports books shows aren't during drive time so it doesn't affect me as much. But whether it's TV or radio the sports book shows have some of the most annoying personalities on the face of the planet.

There is some dude who sounds like words I am not educated enough to use properly so in order to do so I will combine words I know with made up words for the guy I hear a lot:

Dorky, nasiable, heliumfucted, self righteous, smarmy, annoying, unlistenable, stupid.

I have a Fan Duel account and do bet up to 25$ on things and doing ok. So it would be hypocritical for me to condemn sports betting,  But I'm sick of odds running on the bottom of the screen in any of these sports, my feeling is leave that crap off we know where to find it

The sports books are paying to have it put up. And considering ad rev is down for these things it's just showing how fragile our media is to viewership and oversaturation.

  13. Gambling is destroying everything. Seriously.  I know for many it is fun but I have watched it over the last 6 months rip NC apart. It was made legal just after the suoer bowl and every ad now is for some sports site. Radio stations play sports book shows 24/7.  Most people at work bet. They'll bet $2 on an Australian middle achool tennis match, Saudi Arabian hockey tournament, Kenyan horse race.... Any damn thing.

Their third screens now show live streams of these sports, too.

I just cannot believe how it's going and NC is a fraction of the tax that other states are and what I tried to tell these folks are the taxed winnings they get are based off of winning every bet not just the final net total they're ahead. One guy has won over $2k but only netting about $350 income. He doesn't understand no matter how many times I tell him he is going to owe a lot more than he realizes.
